To me this is what Riesling is about. Pure fruit character, petrol, and minerality. The wine showcased stone fruits in its most elegant from. This together with the minerality and petroleum makes it an incredibly captivating nose. However, for me, it is the palate where this wine really blew me away. The level of fruit purity, acidity, citric and salinity and the overall balance is just insane. This was obviously too young but you are drinking this wine now, give it 1 hour of decant prior. I have to try this again.

Very mineral, intense electric acidic structure. Very primary fruit, needs time but such a gut punch to drink now. Fantastic. Incredibly memorable. Hard to find the words, really.

HDH auction at avec (Chicago, IL): Wow. Leagues better than other fresh CSH that I've had. I love the mineral brightness and the intensity here. Delicate and light, with lots of good freshness. I love the laser focus of this.

Intense and steely with a firm mineral spine, complexity on the palate, ripping acidity, and a taut, but elegant structure. Everything is balanced on a wire here; incredible tension and freshness. Love this.

some Riesling appreciation - Austria, Alsace, and Germany: light straw colour, medium body and highly aromatic. petrol notes move aside for the white peach, lime, coriander, white flower, and beeswax bouquet to entice the palate. in mouth it feels broad as a sip gives way to a slow-motion explosion of flavours that replicate the nose and are burnished by the juicy acidity and bitter minerality. as this process unfolds, the wine teases in one direction only to change aim again in a lovely dance of flavours. long persistence with citric and saline overtones.
a true revelation of Riesling; while quite young still, it feels remarkably complete and wanting nothing but some age. this could well become an extraordinary wine with just a bit more time.
13.5% AbV; from a small, mid-slope plot within the Rosacker Grand Cru site.

Riesling tasting (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): Gentle scent of a gas pump nozzle, bright and shiny white and pale fleshed fruits. Fruits are ripe but has a good amount of acidity to maintain a balanced intrigue. With little air time, it develops white floral notes and a dry honeycomb note (imagine wax without any of the honey).
Clean and swift acidity rushes over the palate, leaving behind some unripe green apples, bitter minerality, and ripe pineapple flesh with its bitter skin. Gentle petrol notes from start to finish.
The most complete wine in the lineup. Great complexity. The bitterness and minerality seem to work as a mechanism to prevent any kind of sweetness from surfacing.
This had at least an hour worth of time in a wide decanter.
TOP SHELF WINE WEEKEND: On day one, this was pretty torqued up and launching all sorts of wet limestone and chalk. Petrol and salt follow, with a hyper chiseled profile that demands a generation in the cellar. Linear, primary, and a steel dart to the back of the throat, it was even a bit difficult to take down on the first day just due to the sheer intensity of the acidity and overall execution.
On day two, this was in a much more assessable place, with similar vivacity as before, but with a more fanned out cadence to its flavor expansion. Ocean saline, lime, petrol, chalk, prickly pear (almost like a pear margarita), and grass are more discernible and especially pure. About as fresh and dry as they come, the Clos Ste. Hune is all about wake me up before you go-go at the moment. Best to Rip Van Winkle this thing for a while before trying to wrangle its flavors with any true sense of amalgamation. It’ll leave your palate slap happy without question, but you might not feel your face for a few days after. Fair warning.
An excellent and compelling bottle to be sure.

Wild and Crazy Memorial Weekend - Saturday (Chris' Castle aka Melissa's Manor): This wine was a rock star Riesling! Very primary now, but still delicious! Would like to revisit this wine in 10-20 years (God willing!) This wine shows tons of minerality in the form of sea shell and slate, and tons of citrus and stone fruit with a slightly grassy note. The wine also has enough acidity to ensure a long, long life for this wine. Great now, but will be even better with an additional decade or two of time! You can already sense the greatness of this wine! Wish this wine was priced more friendlier! Thanks Bryan for bringing this! Easy 96 for me.

Flavors of clean and dry fruited straw/wheat, gentle spice and prickly minerals. This draws an awesome amount of acidity on the palate, providing a nice tension.
A first for me and I'm very curious how this will develop with time. 96+

Memorial Madness at Case de Chris y Melissa - Day 1 of 2: I’ve never really had a dry Riesling before so this was lovely. Not as petrol-y as some from Germany. Lots of citrus, bright acid, and lemon peel. As others have mentioned, there was a minerally and salinity component to this that I really liked. Very refreshing. I will be putting a ton of age on my last bottle to see how this is with age.

Total eye opener. Absolutely fantastic. Young they say, but already more than enjoyable. Deeply complex with wonderful minerality and a bit salinity. Wow, just wow.

Intense lemon and lime fruits. Relatively tight and understated for now. Pure with loads of smoky mineral. Linear and quite dry and salty on the finish. Needs plenty of time.

Memorial Day Weekend, Day 1: Inglourious Basterds: Aromas of dried and dusty earth, a breeze of fresh air and grass. There's also a subtle scent of a gas nozzle, and I mean that in the best way.
