Holiday tasting (EBCC): Walk around tasting. Blackberry and plum fruit with chocolate and coffee elements mixed in. Fine tannins carry the fruit through the finish. Excellent. (C&AJ)

Solid mid priced cab. Pleasant notes of dark fruits, velvety mouthfeel. A tad too much alcohol and a short to mid finish holding this back from being a true wow. Overall, an enjoyable wine that i would gladly drink again.

PNP, open from the get go. Straight down the line Napa cab, but so much better than it has any right to be for $24. Lovely nose of ripe cassis. Purple and black fruit on the palate. Notes of graphite, dark chocolate, slightly grainy tannins giving structure and enough acidity for balance before short, bittersweet finish.

Surprisingly well made with loads of mocha, cocoa powder and spice box scents, very firm tannin, and big ripe flavors of a dark red currant & blackberry fruit cocktail. I had moderate expectations, but it was very interesting and delivered much more than I expected. It still has several years of life - perhaps until 2026.

PnP, wow this was the best showing so far for this wine. Really surprising structure that supports a lot of flavor, black and blue fruits, floral notes, baking spice. Drinks well above it's price, I would have guessed blind a $70-100 Cab.

My last vintages pre-2013 were not very good. This 2015 had good reviews, so I tried it with a rib-eye steak. Pop n pour had great blackberry flavor. After a short decant this wine impressed with balanced fruit and tannins. Typical Napa with a fairly long finish. Will buy more at $25-27 price point.

PnP - Dark and rich with a velvety, almost lush texture. Dark fruits (reminiscent of Malbec) with earth, spice and a touch of graphite. I normally experience a firm structure with this wine, but this seemed softer than normal. Not yet fully integrated, but still very enjoyable. Upside potential with more cellar time. 90+

From the $2 pour at the Vino Volo in Pittsburgh airport. I am a fan of the wines from Veeder so I was excited to try it. Let it sit in the glass for prob an hour before I started drinking it. It's very young. The oak and alcohol are more pronounced than some of the other Napa 2015s that I've had. I suspect it needs some time to integrate. Even as I've started to swirl more I can see it coming together a bit better. It's got a big structure. Not overly sweet though or jammy and so there's some potential there. Would be interested in revisit in a few years.

Good color. Nice Cabernet scents in nose, even a hint of Cab Franc in the nose. And yet, still a bit light. Flavors of cherry and spice, but again, mostly light in tone and filling. Another shadow of its former self.

2nd day notes. Translucent purple in color. Nose of mostly red berries with earth, smoke and oak. Flavors are similar and mostly red (raspberry and pomegranate), tart and acidic. A little out of balance with acidity greater than tannins. Nice wine and pretty good QPR but certainly not great.
Good red fruit aroma with no overpowering alcohol (this was after a decant of 40 minutes). Mostly red fruit not overly complex some tar and menthol. Good finish slightly acidic but not too much. At price in mid 20’s it is an excellent QPR for everyday drinking

12 Days of Christmas - 2018; 12/21/2018-1/1/2019 (NYC, Vermont, Lake Placid): Tasted blind. Flight #4 - Wine #3. This was my favorite of the flight - just seems like a more interesting wine with a bit more complexity. Would have benefitted from a decant. Dark fruits, earthy soil, some menthol, tannins are still quite grippy (finish is long) and it has a spine of acid. This one wants cellar time (5+ years) or a 3 hour decant for optimal drinking. Second place for this flight with 29 pennies.

Smooth w refined soft tannins. Decanted 30 minutes. Had w Porterhouse steaks. Great food and sipping wine. Fantastic QPR wine. A go to wine in this price range. Like better than Daou or Mondavi which are also good for a few bucks less

Hennepin Lake Tasting 2018; 10/11/2018-10/14/2018 (Minneapolis, MN): Not as good as the 2013 vintage I had recently. Floral, baked pie crust and a bit harsh on the finish. Not balanced. As I review more 3 day wine reviewing is the way to go. These young wines critics are giving good scores are throwing darts at a board and don't accurately rate these wines. This wine right now is not good. Maybe if I did 3 days on it would be better but this on day 1 is not good.

Thirty minute decant. Deep dark purple color. Crayon, menthol, black cherry and cotton candy on the nose. Smooth, dry palate. Full, round tannins on the medium long finish. This is very quaffable, but also a bit too extracted.

This is a lovely, easily approachable wine. Its color is dark red. There was no bouquet. The tannins are very soft. There is some fruit but this is not a typical "fruit bomb" Napa Cab -- this is more like a merlot with a good balance of fruit and tannin. At 3 years of age it is very drinkable.

P: Med body; NICE frt quickly met by puckerish astringency which DOES lose the majority of its bite by the LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy finish with a swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. Deserves/NEEDS 12-18 mos, then drinking for 3-4 yrs, though more approachable early on than were the previous 2 vintages (both of which I'm cellaring)? It's early and just hitting the shelves......I'm a bit wishy washy on this vintage and not what 2014 or 13 was. Just not together yet and I'll try another later this year. I'm a fan of this winery - but not sure I'll add 2015 to the cellar just yet!
Brought over by Taylor J.W. Sweet candy nose, very ripe, sweet, approachable, developed more focus and intensity over the course of 4 hours. Doesn't have the seriousness that the '14 has at this stage.

By the glass offering at a Menlo area restaurant, so expectations are modest.
Deep purple garnet color. Nose showing black cherry, sweet candy, floral notes. Palate of dark berries, blackberry. Medium weight and finish
Did pick up the harsh notes some others did. Nice enough but no real depth, seems to be built to drink early on.
