  • Fresh bouquet of white flowers, citrus, salt and a hint of petrol. Layers of chalk, green fruit and citrus on the palate. Incredibly expressive, razor sharp, steely. 8 years old, but it tastes like it was just bottled yesterday. Many years left.

  • I really dig the nose on this wine - reminds me of a really good dry riesling strangely. The palate is not quite as exciting though - a little flat. Nice minerally aftertaste though. A good value compared to some other sancerre.

  • Although this is the second time I've tried this wine I'm still rather unsure what to make of it. The colour is (remarkably) almost water white, and the nose contains some melon but mostly the most herbaceously "green" of aromas. Similarly the palate is forceful and concentrated but the acidity is searing to the point of being painful. It seemed to loosen on day two especially at a warmer temperature. Certainly quite a statement stylistically.

  • Excellent but a less rich and more grassy showing than previously remember.

  • A delight. Clean, pure, rich, deft with lovely weight and balance. Distinguished by the layering of cherry/passion/melon fruit (as others note, and is that from oak?) with fine lemon, mineral, lime. Good length. I'd say minerality has eased a bit compared to past notes. Great on its own and with sea scallops in light wine/lemon/dill sauce over homemade pasta.

  • Ruby red grapefruit, sweetgrass, passionfruit, and a lovely mineral sense to it all. Lemongrass, lily, limestone just billow from the glass. Waxy and persistent on the finish with great freshness. I recently had a Mondavi I-block Sauv blanc and while that's a bigger, oakier, richer wine than this, the Cotat is no less impressive.

  • Amazingly, fresher than a year ago. Takes just a few minutes in the glass to open. Oak seemingly integrated. Intensely minerally, more like spring water than almost any wine I can remember, and losing no richness for it. Abundant herbs, passion fruit, salinity, bracing acidity. A bit disjointed at times with so much going on, but at other times just glorious. Excellent pairing with lingcod and lemon basil glaze, tomato goat cheese salad and dill rice.

  • Herbal, spring-water like on the nose. Occasionally riper notes but certainly this is not over the top. Fine, concentrated palate. Gorgeous.

  • I served this in my wine course. Complex nose of melon, gooseberries, marine air, grass, slight honey and even some cat pee. Relatively rich waxy texture in the mouth. Long satisfying mineral and bitter finish that comes in waves. Always impressed by Cotat's wines, and this no exception.

  • LOVE these wines...SO crystalline and bright with citrus, chiseled with rocks and minerality...the freshest freshness! The 14 of this wine is my benchmark Cotat...probably the finest I've had from them...the saline minerality and chalkiness are insane! The 16 shows less than 14, but still possesses that pure crystalline citrus, SO much tension and energy...pretty blossom florals, lemon grass, chive, rock melon, pear, green apple tartness. LOVE the limestone chalk in these, little white pepper dust, nuanced sea air funk...puckering lemon and spice finish. Would love to see how these are with some age on them...but they're TOO good young, so I keep drinking them!

  • Nuanced, subtle, and savory. The most beautiful sauv blanc I've ever consumed.

  • Steely and tons of mineral content. So unique. Keeps going with a waxy texture and long, again, steely finish. Guests were expecting oak. Sorry!

    Just loooovely with brie.
