back end, schmack end. this wine is singing tonight. alas, our last bottle, and only one more PM 02 in the cellar. as i inferred, firing on all cylinders. lavender, mild cedar (wow), nice honey component, orange marmalade, great depth of fruit combined with a spice riddled back end. fabulous. i printed out all my notes for PM 02 chards. a really fun exercise. drink, but if you are lucky enough to encounter a bottle in this good of shape, you could maybe milk it for another 2 years.

ok, i was wrong. 19 months later, this is on the backend of it's life. still, it's deep texture and slightly carmelized, mildly oxidized profile is hardly displeasing, just an acquired, interesting taste. we enjoyed this wine with butternut squash soup during turkey festivities, but i'm glad i only have one bottle left. drink.

Clear gold color. Thick and viscous. Lovely nose all you would want in a Cali Chard, lemon hazelnut. Viscous palate lemon zest stones fruit lasts a minute. I wish I would have saved a few more of these. wow

the most interesting aspect of tasting this wine was the 15.1% alcohol. at age seven, how would this wine reflect it's alcohol and/or age? well, the jury took only one sip to proclaim this wine spectacular. richly textured, beautifully composed, expansive fruit. the color shows virtually no age, and the wine only displays any age because of the almost complete integration of oak. i have to say that consistently, PM out-performs the competition, i.e. aubert, kistler, kongsgaard, pahlmeyer, and yes, even marcassin ( i don't have enough experience with aged rochioli to make a judgement). ordinarily, i 'd say drink up for a domestic chard at this point, but this bottle allows for an almost limitless future...4,5+ years? seriously.

Good, mature, with a touch of caramel in the nose and flavors. Seemed a bit closed at first, but improved into a moderately complex medium weight wine. Good length, medium depth.

Tasting Group Dinner - Bordeaux at Heidi's (Heidi's, Minneapolis): Rich, moderately cloudy gold color. Wide open, concentrated, and expressive. The palate shows ripe apricot, bread dough, and well-integrated buttery oak/vanilla. Lightly sweet. Lush, thick, and creamy in the mouth. Over 15% alcohol, but no overt heat.

Wednesdays at Heidi's: Pale yellow color and cloudy. The nose exudes a complex blend of concentrated citrus fruits with floral and mineral (stone) notes complimented by new oak. In the mouth this is expansive and has great intensity of flavor -- including concentrated fruit, honey, butterscotch and oak. The finish is long and satisfying. This was an awesome wine to kick off the evening.

golden yellow, touch cloudy with it being chilled, cleared up with warming up. Smoky rich nose with citrus underneath. More hazelnut emerged with time. Delish.

No detailed TN taken, but this was still very much alive and kicking. Beautiful gold color, though it was a little cloudy. Really opened up after about an hour (in the bottle, not decanted)--wonderful honey bouquet.

Tight out of the gate, but opened up with 30 minutes of air and continued to improve over the next 90 minutes. A bit heavy on the oak, but the fruit and honey are outstanding. Thick and viscous.

What a beautiful wine. Yellow/green in the glass. Honey, acacia flowers, lemon and candied orange on the nose. In the mouth, the acid and alcohal are so balanced that the necar just flows down your throat. Drank over a two hour period and it got better and better. The French have nothing on this little gem.

Aromas of ripe citrus. Intense flavors of tangerine with the typical PM lees-y texture. Still holding up well.

Past prime but evolving in an interesting way with deep color, some almond, butterscotch note and still some citrus... Was lovely with lobster

Classic california chard. No sign of oxidation but one to be enjoyed within the next 12-18 months.

HAS THIS WINE EVER EVOLVED. BEAUTIFUL BALANCE, NOTHING DOMINATES. SIMILAR TO OTHER PM'S, DRINKS BEST 7-10 YEARS AFTER THE VINTAGE DATE.

Definitely some lemon and honey on the palate but very one dimensional at this point. I think I held on to this one a bit too long.

gold. Nose is starting to cross over from the overtly fruity to the caramelly. Taste was smooth and demanded another taste. Very Good.
