THis, my last bottle, was simply delicious. No signs of damage or defects. Muted in the nose at first but notes of honey appeared after time in glass. FIne structure with bracing acidity and exceptional length. Delicious. Sad to see the last of that case!

Well, do much for keeping the second bottle for a few years. Opened this by mistake (wasn't paying attention), but I certainly wasn't disappointed.
Medium gold. Pronounced aromas of baked apple, quince, pear, lemon rind, almonds, wet wool, wax. Fully developed. Off dry (some RS), high acidity, full body, medium alcohol, long finish, palate similar to the nose, with some stone fruit too and spice on the finish. Outstanding wine. Equally good on day 2. Drinking perfectly now, but has the acidity and fruit concentration to last for another 5 years.
I'm sorry for those who have had bad experiences of this wine. I've had two perfect bottles, no sign of premature oxidation mentioned elsewhere (which surprises me as it isn't typical of Chenin Blanc, that I know of), or any fault linked to the cork (this cork in perfect condition).

Waxy lanolin big-time... it's more sec tendre than sec... seems something is off, not sure if it's chenin funk but it's a weird mid-palate flavour that overwhelms all else. It needs food.

I’ve read mixed notes on this, but our bottle was very good. A golden yellow hue. Dryer than most Huet Secs, but a little less acidity too. There’s waxy lanolin on the nose, with both pear and lemon coming through. Despite having no beer at home, we found a perfect pairing to spicy black bean tacos.

After opening a sadly oxidized Le Mont 02, this was altogether different - firstly the colour, which was pale yellow, then the nose, fresh lemon and just a hint of honey, then the taste, again very fresh and youthful, full of citric fruit, honey and just a hint of butterscotch mid-palate. I didn't find this flabby at all, it had good bite and acidity. Not quite the depth and complexity of the best Huet secs, but it will probably improve further.

Not premoxed, but not so easy to like either. It's soft and flabby - I need more spine and definition out of a sec - and while the array of flavors and aromas screams chenin it does it in a way that's lacking in freshness, like florals that are less about the blooming flowers and more like the murky water in the vase. Not terribly surprisingly, given a ton of air (in this case three days sitting open) it freshens up some and gets much better, with brighter tones and a tactile, chalky feel, but still with a bit too much flab for sec.

Damn it. Between my last note from 2017, when I thought the bottle was probably hitting the apex onto the downhill side, and along with the last 4 TNs on this wine from other users, I thought I better get this opened. It's perfect. Paid $25 for this back in 2012 from Envoyer. Absolutely zero premox or advanced markers of any kind in my bottle today. Opened about 15 mins ago, with the cork just falling apart into a mess of pieces. I got the inner 1/2 out cleanly, then poured the wine. Such a beautiful melange of peach, honey, citrus pith and a big blast of acidity in the finish. Damn it. This could fool me for a wine that is less than 5 years old, and in comparison to a 2015 Chidaine Choisilles I recently opened, it has the livelihood of that wine which is a decade younger. This is a cracking great bottle of Huet Bourg that drinks like it is connected to an electrical current. Damn it, what an awesome bottle of wine.....retasted 24 hours later, the honeyed aspect to this has come forward, as has some notes of pineapple. The texture is a little fatter and the acidity less bright. What a cool wine for 15 years old.

Tulip yellow. Some waxy Chenin and honey, but mostly citrus. Medium bodied, on the light side for Vouvray. Not a really dry or severe Sec, but it has a rush of bitter lemon toward the finish. This is still in wonderful shape and could last. I'm impressed with the cut it has for a 2005.

Opened this a full two days ago. Had a glass left that was in the bottle that I had left in the fridge from our dinner 2 nights ago. Before adding tonight's impressions, my notes from the dinner say pink grapefruit, minerally, dry finish. The acidity was quite present and it showed as a true medium weight wine. Tangy peach, too. Forward now to this evening, I get a look at this as a standalone wine. Some bronzing in the color that I can see now. I'd say that since the dinner this shows less energy than it did, reflecting more of the stone fruit flavors (nectarine and peach) that I'd expect from this wine, very little of the grapefruit nor the acidity from 2 nights ago, too. Finishes a little flat, with some baked golden apple flavors that feel a little oxidized to me in tone. So overall, not sure how to explain the better showing of 2 nights ago versus what is showing this evening but I have one bottle left and I will use that in the next couple years, for sure.

Charity Auction Tasting for Brigid Collins Family Support Center: One of the winning bidders of the Charity Auction was French and requested a Vouvray. She'd never had a Huet, so this was an easy pick. I was a bit surprised how dry it was compared to the '10 and '14 of which I've had quite a few. Citrus and wooly lanolin, crisply acidic, I liked it but think I will like the later vintages more when they get some bottle age.

Really good showing. Still coiled up but approachable now, especially if there arr other bottles and this won't get slurped down before it unfolds. The nose shows lovely ripe fruit and also things like anise seed and honey and that woolly scent in Chenin. A lovely and very complex nose that fully harmonizes with the very mineral base notes after 2 hours open. Balanced and texturally very graceful, round and and harmonious on the palate. Delicious and compelling wine.

Completely mature now. In the nose you'll encouonter the typical bouquet of wet wool, hay, warm wax, hyacinth, cashew and melon. On the palate it's very round, ripe and creamy. Strange...., this serving doesn't seem completely dry to me... Last bottle from a 6 pack, all other bottles were driz-a-bone.

Huet tasting Sec, Demi-Sec and Moelleux from different vintages (Andis Home): Colour: Light yellow Nose: First a lot of confectioner's sugar mixed with vanillin covered the nose. After some time in the glass and with more temperature the wine shows aromas of apricote, ginger, fresh cutten pear, orange and almonds. Palate: As the label said before this wine is dry. At first it is very flat and without any power but getting better with more time. A nice spicy component on the mid-palate appears. Medium finish.

Deep yellow. More citrus than pear. Medium body, in fact, lacking some of the glyceral richness that I usually find in Huet. Unusually lemony, just a hint of residual sugar, some vanilla notes, sound acidity, and a ton of terroir toward the end. My quibbles with this bottle are the less than harmonious texture in the mid-palate and a drying, rather harsh finish. I recently had the Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec and found the balance and overall impression much more pleasing. This is clearly not too old, but will more time pull it together?

Wooly bully. Yeah, immediate big nose of wooliness and beeswax. As the nose becomes accustomed to this, notes of apple cider, baked apple, poached pear, graham cracker, yellow flowers, lemon chiffon all swirl about. Thick and cream attack but with almost an amaro tug rather than a soft or sweet effect.
I'd love to try BBQ ribs marinated in this instead of apple cider and lemon. But, I guess I'd rather still be drinking it instead.

Apparently the best of Huet's 2005 Vouvray sec bottlings. Opens with a powerful nose of chlorine which gives way to paraffin over time. Sometimes apricot, sometimes melon in a blanket of minerality on the palate. Finishes clean with an echo. Ready, but in no hurry to be drunk.

Appealing nose with still lots of fruit, like slightly dried citrus, summer apple, medlar. Besides there is some hay, chalkines and lots of honey. Overall still full with freshness but has the complexity that comes with some bottle age. Medium-plus body. Savoury attack followed by good density on the midpalate, accompanied by high, vibrant, mouthwatering, but pretty well integrated acidity.Purity with fine creaminess, quite long finish. Not that powerhouse regarding its intensity as the 2008-er Huets, but maybe more elegant and stylish and is absolutely delicate.

Medium yellow. First time tasted in 4 years. Uncanny quality of underripe pineapple along with a cidery note as well. Deceptive in that the entry seems as though it will be sweet, but it is not. Spice and vanilla complement the lively fruit. Medium to full body, great sweet/sour tension due to the acidity and a long soil filled finish that I associate more with Clos du Bourg than any of the other Huet crus. Tremendous bottle.

Really delicate at this point, less wild and erratic than younger vintages, but very pointedly Clos du Bourg. Quince and honeysuckle on the nose with a hint of smokey, unctuous crushed rocks. On the palate hints of quinine and honeysuckle, orange flower. Very mineral, almost saline. Really nice and delicate.

Day 1 this smelled to me like a Pendleton wool shirt dipped in apple juice. Figuratively speaking. Sort of tasted like it, too. Day 2 shows a much more floral nose but what's really surprising is how the level of acidity seems to have spiked so that this is brilliant in the way I remember it tasted upon release. Some of the apple lingers on but it's no longer dominant (and with regard to what is left it's like we went from a boring Red Delicious to a more interesting Arkansas Black). Seems totally sec to me.

Floral but muted. A pale wine in comparison to its 07 sibling.

It's interesting to see that both previous times I've tasted this wine, the word "lean" has come up. This bottle certainly started out much the same way with herbal tones outpacing the fruit, but it nicely gained weight and more typical quince fruit over time. This still needs a lot of time and is an '05 in which lack of acidity is not a problem. Very dry-a true Sec.

2005 and 2006 Huet (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Same pale color as the '05 Le Mont Sec. Very nice gingery nose. Compared to the Le Mont, higher acidity, leaner, and not nearly as approachable now. It has a great finish, though, and tasting it again, I am more confident that it will be a tremendous Sec in due time.

Pale yellow. Very interesting contrast between this and the Le Mont Sec tasted several weeks ago. A nose tending much more toward acacia blossoms, lemon, and tonic water here. Although it has good flesh, it is leaner in style, the fruit is more backward and less round, the acidity may be a tad lower, and it finishes with a touch of austerity and a quinine/earthy bitterness. Drink the much more open, accessible Le Mont over the short to intermediate term while you hold onto this one. I imagine this Clos du Bourg might be too severe in style for some, but I plan to lay some down.

As pure a Huet sec as I can remember. Sometimes they're so strong with apply fruit flavor they don't have much else to show. This one is milder in its fruit flavor which makes the overall impact more lithe and graceful in a streamwater kind of way. It becomes more tactile on the finish.

This was sampled at Chambers Street Wines as part of their, what to serve with lamb or ham, tasting. Beautiful citrus, pear and mineral on the nose and palate with super definition of flavor. Rich.

Encore plus d’alcool volatile que le 2012 mais ici aussi l’aération règle le tout.
Des arômes fruitiers plus secs: abricots, poires. Une touche de miel, et des notes de noix (pistaches, noisettes), sans toucher au registre oxydatif.

Yellow fruits in the bouquet. On the palate soft and ripe yellow fruits like mango as well. Limestone minerals. Some bitterness in the finish. Full bodied and beautiful wine.

Huet tasting Sec, Demi-Sec and Moelleux from different vintages (Andis Home): Colour: Light yellow
Nose: First a lot of confectioner's sugar mixed with vanillin covered the nose.

Ripe apples on the nose. Honeyed fruit on palate balanced with zingy, crisp, angular acidity that hasn't been tamed after 8 years in bottle. A ridiculous qpr- it's hard to believe this classic retails for $30...
