This is so smooth ...fruit is medium to full. The tannin is very soft...Still this is young and partially hidden by the tannin. Give this 5 years, at least.

Fantastic wine. Decanted for 15 minutes. Wonderful lift, dark fruit, long finish, long legs, layered, fine tannins, and multi-dimensional. Katie, Tim and I agreed this is a fantastic wine. Celebrating Bona's wedding today in S. Korea.

Return to Napa; 3/6/2022-3/13/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): This wine was one of the surprises for me. I like Dunn and I like the Napa bottling (sometimes even better because then I don't have to contend with the wax) and I've always thought it was really good wine but this was kindof great. Lovely dark fruits and amazing balance and somehow there's just a classiness to this wine that really jumped out at me. Drinking young for sure but a wine that I'd look forward to following the trajectory.

Deep dark red medium body wine (13.9%). Opened for about 40 minutes. Pleasant nose followed by black cherry and blackberry fruit. Very nice finish. This wine will be even better in 3 or more years.

Deep dark red big wine ((13.9%). Good nose followed by a surprising amount of big and full blackberry, currant and blueberry fruit. Very pleasing finish. This wine will cellar for many years. This wine is going to be a stunner in 5 or 6 years.

These recent vintages have changed to a more open, ripe, round, and ready to go style. Smooth and silky. New world Napa style now, gone is the old world Bordeaux style of wine making here.

Some say you should never have Dunn this young. (At least decanted for 4 hours) After my first I am at least very intrigued how it will evolve. Primary fruit is red berry, Black cherry, herbal like basil, some light woodyness. Cool climate nose. Very vell integrated tannins already. Aromaes continue as wine fills mouth. It strikes me how pure elegance this is. More points if it matures some complexity. Nexth one next decade

Out of the bottle, a vibrant, deep purple flowing into the decanter, conjuring images of size and power. But looks can be deceiving. The nose was muted. In the mouth, the best way to describe this Dunn is by its narrowness. Not quite thin but lacking the complexity one would hope for in a Dunn Cabernet.
Over the years, I have been amazed by the longevity of Dunn wines, often drinking the Napa and Howell Mountain versions twenty years on. The 2016 though doesn't hold much promise for the future based on this tasting.

Still too young, but very drinkable with air. Nice balance and candied red fruit.
