Unfortunately the oak was alittle too overwhelming for me. Although this has some of the classic Rousseau style the vintage and lack a grapes created a wine with more oak than usual so the oak is more prominent in this vintage compared to others.

Gevrey Masterclass @Sommcellars. Pure and airy scents of red berries and spices, red fruited then beautifully textured, powerful in a deceptively light frame, ending in a very long, minerally inflected finish that saturates the buds. Compared to all the other wines, this has absolutely no sucrosity, near perfect purity and balance. Needs to snooze a dozen years in the cellar, this is a beauty. WOTN for me.

Magnum Holiday Dinner (Hao Noodle): Intoxicating blue fruit, spicy, so pure, transparent, structured. Gulping one glass after another after another. 94-95

SLDS Decadence 2021: Stalky, cherry, earth and spice. Palate is a delicate mix of red fruits and spice. Classical profile here, really lovely and pure. Can't ask for a lot more from this wine, it's young but hits a lot of high notes.

Closed on the nose but wonderful mix of red and black fruit on the palate. Rich and plush texture. Great balance and harmony. I feel Rousseau keeps improving his Ruchottes. Medium plus finish. Needs 5+ years but will hold forever.

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Sweet pure black fruits, blackberry, black cherry, a hint of strawberry jam, rose and limestone. Excellent concentration, round but cool and silky, very good acidity, a hint of mineral, very fine tannins and a long pure black fruit driven finish. I mention to Frederic that the quality of Ruchottes has been really improving and he agrees that it is getting very close to Clos St Jacques in quality. Really nice showing.
