The wine was pale tawny at the core and orangey at the rim. The viscosity was low, no sediment and alcohol was 13.5 % On the nose there was a yeasty smell although the wine was in good condition. The bouquets were of cranberry, sour cherry, almonds and moss. The intensity was low. On the palate the taste was underwhelming with a short finish. The tannins and alcohol were low and the acid medium. The body was light and generally mellow. I tasted iron, leather, and cranberry. This is akin to a table wine. I would not buy it again. It paired well with a cheese and meat charcuterie platter. I do not think this wine will improve with age.

Beautiful light rusty brick red colour. Very light in appearance, if not for the slight orange, one would almost guess Pinot Noir.
Sharp minerality on the nose. Concrete & oak, green leaf, young leather round it out. Very little fruit to give it away.
Light, very elegant mouthfeel. Medium+ acid, present but softened tannin. Very nicely packaged, good harmony in the bottle, however missing fruit at this point in its life.
Overall a very nice light-bodied wine that would have gone excellently with good quality Neapolitan pizza, or roast pork. Good QPR, will wait another 1-2 years before opening the next bottle, but tasty now.

Sangiovese - Very light floral flavor, bland taste of strawberries. Not much mid-pallete. Very short finish. Reminds me of a light pinot noir. Very light/smooth tannins. Light and clear in the glass. Feels a bit unsatisfying (leaves me wanting something stronger/darker/richer). Had with roasted turkey and roasted chicken.

Really ripe bouquet. On viewing this wine I must say that it is so transparent that it makes me think it is a Pinot Noir. It has a berry richness with spices that shut down fruit at the mid palette. Clearly meant to Age this wine is worthy of some cellar and bottle age.

Opens much lighter than I was expecting but this is, I see, 100% Sangiovese. Nothing too exotic but this is very well put together and strikes a good balance of savoury and smooth, rich fruit. It isn’t one I’d hide away in the cellar but decent enough.

Red cherry palate. Very nice for a 2014. Has some floral nuance in the palate, not thin by any stretch. Plump fruit texture. Maybe not a long lived vintage, but this drinks real nice on day 2.

On the lighter side of thing. Wonderful bouquet that I could get totally lost in. Floral. Spice. Went on and on seemingly for ever. On the palate it was bright, forward and really yummy (technical term). The only thing "lacking" was a short finish which otherwise spoiled a 90+ wine leaving it just short. Still, delightful bottle and well worth drinking.

Enjoyed with a medium rare bone in Ribeye at Ruth’s Chris. Light berry aromas, spice and subtle violets. Light-bodied palate, polished tannins and fresh acidity underscore with cherry, raspberry and clove finishes.

Scarlet core to garnet rim Light dried cherry and earthy aromas Bone dry, tart and a bit gritty on the palate. A bit lean by itself, but an excellent food wine with a fatty pork roast. Seems a bit older than 2013

The nose was dark with pure red berry fruit, dusty savory spice, dried flowers, and minerals. On the palate, I found soft textures with balancing acidity, caressing red fruits, spice and inner floral tones. The finish was medium in length with lingering floral-infused red fruits. This may not be the best vintage, but Avignonesi made a great effort to be enjoyed over the next three to five years.

Good, middle-of-the-road freshness and complexity. Balanced, clean, with cherry and dusty leather, red flowers. A little gritty just now, let it rest a year or so.

I liked it. Not much fruit but nice old world earthiness. It’s aged a bit faster than I would have expected. Already orange at rim.

Extremely woodsy; strawberry/cherry, roots and bark and spices. Some oak is lingering... and with Avignonesi I also always get a hint of balsamic.
Light of body and opacity, but not of flavor.

WAID Noble Italian Reds (What Am I Drinking?! Bryn Mawr, PA): Disappointing, as I expect great things from Avignonesi. A stemmy, green note dominates. Improves a bit with air but not enough.

High acid, moderate tannins, light fruit. Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't have any of the earthiness I associate with good Tuscan reds.
