Expectations are always high for a QC, even the basic CVR - that said, this was just ok. 2015 not my favorite vintage across the board. The heat from this wine even on the nose is strong - carried through to palate - nose showed blackberry notes with a hint of flintiness - palate showed dark fruits, some umami and a tar or dark olive tapenade and even some blue fruit - acid balance shows up 2/3 through to finish with a final upper palate light bitterness to close
At $40 back in the day a decent wine if not outstanding.

Nose: Blackcurrants, forest floor, black cherry, licorice, fig, wet bark.
Palate: Bright acidity but perfectly in check with the fruit and tannins -mouth watering. Tar, dark plum, pomegranate jam, dark cherry, vanilla pod and sweet forest berries. Great wine and qpr.

Twin Cities Wine Club Washington State Bordeaux & Syrah Tasting (Edina, MN): Oak up front but after some decanting and Vinturi it got better. Blueberries, dark cherry, menthol and blackberries. Some tobacco on the finish. My least favorite wine of the tasting and I think Quilceda Creek is the most overrated wine in Washington. 88-89.

Well...I didn't hold this until 2025 like I said I would. But the flavors here are spot on with my note from earlier this year, less the yeasty bits. I think the 6+ months of additional cellar time served this wine well, in that it was much more enjoyable now vs. then. Gave it an additional point and think it will continue to gain them with more time. Alas, I'm out of the 2015. Drink now - 2030+.

Dark red almost opaque, full bodied, rich dark fruit flavor, strong but well integrated tannins, well balanced acidity. It is a pleasure to drink and to appreciate how good a great Cabernet can be. It was excellent right after pulling the cork. Perhaps it has reached its optimum age?

Excellent WA cab blend. Still lot's of room to grow. Nice rich dark red fruit with long palate and ample forest floor make this an interesting wine. Glad I still have three more in the cellar.

Very tightly wound, even after 3 hours my impressions were limited to dark brooding fruit and oak. Modestly more revealing on night two, tannins yielded somewhat but I think this wine just needs more time to settle in. Try again in 2024.

2 hour decant. A touch yeasty on first sip after the pop. Glad I let it breathe for a bit. Flavors of black cherry, cassis, oak and vanilla, with a lovely finish of espresso and cocoa nibs. This is in a really good place right now, but will hold my last bottle until 2025 at least. Drink now - 2030.

Dark red in color. Black cherry and blackberry on the nose. Fine, but intense fruit on the palate. Bittersweet chocolate, black cherries, sweet tobacco. Sweet tannins, sharp (not unpleasant) acidity, great balance. Finishes long with dark chocolate and cherry notes. Lovely. Should drink well for 6 to 10 years.

Nose: marshmallow and vanilla, blackberry, blueberry, eucalyptus, slate, glycerin. Smooth grippy tannins, good acidity and alcohol, well balanced. Taste: blueberry jam, stewed prunes, bell pepper, sour cherries: long finish. Delicious. Could lay down for longer.

Very nice blend. Primarily cab with the complex purple and blue fruits, but the cab franc adds a boldness and possibly some alcohol (15%) that is quite enjoyable. May be biased because paired with an excellent meal. Hoping the '18 and '19s are even better.

Still surprisingly oaky, rich and heady, and much more a sipping wine than a good food wine at this point. Tasted alongside a Delille D2, also 2015, and I’m not sure than one was appreciably better than the other.

Surprisingly very close to left-bank Bordeaux stylistically in its restrained mannerism and measured, tightly knit structure. Good now with food, but I suspect it still has a couple of years to resolve fully.

Might have been the best among a group of strong wines. Rich, lush, full bodied, dark red and blue fruit, smooth, good on it's own or paired with food.

2 hrs slow ox. Nice grip on the stems. Nose is firm, a phrase I don’t know that I’ve used before, but speaks to crushed gravel, tight wood, rough (as opposed to elegant) vanilla and soft lavender.
Is somewhat tight/restrained. Very enjoyable now but that it’s best years lay ahead. You can certainly sense the fruit, but it’s peeking out from behind the tannins. Perfectly enjoyable on its own or with food, hope I can let my remaining bottles fully resolve over the next 3-7 years.

Decanted for two hours before service. In the glass, pink/maroon at the rim, shading to dark, cloudy maroon at the core. On the nose, currants and pine. On the palate, more of the same, with firm, structured, persistent tannins throughout, which were more manageable four hours after opening, but still quite assertive. If I had to do it again, this needs five hours of air to settle down sufficiently.

A very Washington Cab. Dark fruits, earthiness and some tobacco. Complexity to it, and a restrained structure. If you like big fruit bombs and juicy Napa’s than this may not appeal to you as the fruit is secondary. It needs at least a two hour decant and improved throughout the evening. I struggle with the QPR - while I don’t like fruit bombs, I would have preferred a bit more flavour than this offered.

Very very good. And a great value Dark fruit, currant, spice, tobacco. The finish is lengthy and there is just a hint of menthol at the end. There is some earthiness present lending it some old world quality. But the fruit forwardness leaves no doubt it is new world. Balanced with sweet tannin. In my mind the best Washington Cabernet is more to my liking than the big Cali Cabs. Bigger and more fruit forward than Bordeaux but with some of the same subtle complexity the best straddle both worlds. This is a second wine and without a doubt doesn’t have the same power and complexity as the flagship wine. But the price to quality ratio is through the roof. Just killed it with a grilled bavette

Pop and pour, 75 minutes after opening. Dark tea, clay and a metalic tinge on the nose. Wine has a nice grip on the stems, this is more Bordeaux-like than typical from a CVR; it’s lacking the blue and dark fruit I expect and is much more subtle. Front -to-mid palate finish is polished but lacks the depth I expect. While a nice quaff, this varies considerably from my last bottle and others’ notes.

Many of the CVRs leave me wanting more. The '15 however hits the spot. Opaque but not overly dense. Rich lush fruit. Complex and integrated. Much more in your face than the QC cab but very nice. Pleasant finish.

Unimpressed today. Outclassed by the '14 Venge Silencieux sitting next to it in all respects. Clumsy and unappealing, tart and fruitless. Disappointed... and hopefully not representative of the remaining bottles.

Friday night solo treat while wife is out on girl's night; feels like I'm cheating. Voluptuous, great legs, with intoxicating aromas of cassis and sandalwood. Luscious on the lips with round black currants and dark nuances, balanced, and sexy. Oops, my wife is back. "Would you like a glass, sweetie?"

My third bottle of this wine and it’s hard to understand why it’s this different - maybe it was because I drank this closer to room temperature. In any event, I’ve seen people derogatorily describe something as a “blueberry vanilla shake.” That’s what this is - powerful hit of blueberry flavor, prominent oaky vanilla and heat-hot from alcohol. A bit of a mess. Second night was worse. Maybe it was me as I regularly buy the CVR wines as they are a good value.

Feel that the nose is a bit nondescript, though i pick up faint blue and back BlackBerry. As I write these notes, the wine has softened a bit from its initial opening when it had a bit more layering. However this is a classic QC red blend that’s a consistent crowd pleaser and is fine both on its own or with food.
Based on this experience I would not decant, and would drink within 90 mins-2hrs after opening.

The 2015 Quilceda Creek CVR is a delicious wine with dark fruits on the nose. The wine is medium bodied with velvety oak and licorice notes. A great wine for those who want to try a Quilceda but not ready to spend the money on their estate cabernet. this wine should drink well for another 5 years.

Really nice wine especially for the price. Complex, notes of graphite blackberries maybe some dark chocolate. Tannins are well balanced at this point but should drink even better in a year or two. Plenty of fruit without being one syrupy gloop. Smooth with structure. Delicious

When compared to the ‘14, this comes across slightly brighter, and more structured. Black cherries and cream, licorice, sandalwood, and espresso leap from the glass. The palate is slightly less fruit forward than the nose, showing added notes of graphite, potpourri, dark chocolate shavings and tart currant. Silky tannins but still enough backbone for this to age nicely. In fact, while I’d pop ‘14s now, I’d hold these another 2-3yrs to get to how the ‘14s are drinking today.

This one vanished into thin air at a dinner party in Walla Walla. The girls poured it all into their glasses while our backs were turned, the guys never had a chance. But Edith was kind enough to let me sample hers. Drinking beautifully, all chocolate and leather with silky SILKY tannins. Will open another this week so I have a chance to fully evaluate!
While there isn’t much of a nose on this, it made for a pleasant pop and pour, and paired well with a pork teriyaki stir fry.
A bit watery and lacking depth of some earlier vintages but an enjoyable bottle with less demanding foods or in its own. This would be great with most fish or poultry, and whine drinkable with beef it would t be a top choice

Day 1: Powerful dark fruits, floral, vanilla on the nose. Amazingly smooth and drinkable upon opening - surprised it didn’t seem to need air. Decanted for 3 hours but did not seem to change much. Very smooth and drinkable, fantastic balance, not too acidic, not too astringent - tannins are subdued, lower acid, blackberry, plum, cassis and vanilla oak. Not as much complex cigar box or old leather when compared to a double-the-cost Leonetti, but this Quilceda CVR is an amazing everyday drinker that provides ample pleasure. I plan to let my flagships age 10 more years while I enjoy these CVRs. Day 2: Still delicious with slightly less oak. Impressive for a 2nd label.

Not quite as pretty as it was 18 mo ago. Big nose of blackberries, blueberries, bay leaf and other herbs, cedar, new leather, and earth on the nose. Some raspberry comes out with a little coaxing. Cassis, blackberries, blueberries, earth, herbs, and a touch of alcohol on the palate. Moderate acidity, nicely integrated tannins, medium-long finish. Huge wine. Concentrated, alcoholic, fruit-forward. Hmm, I'm a bit torn on this wine. It's big and the quality is there, but it lacks a little charm at the moment. But if you need a *big* wine at a good price (at the mailing list price), this could be a good choice.

Seductively perfumed! Rich, ripe, primarily red fruit. Sweet and expansive on the palate, while also stalwartly framed. The wine wears its alcohol quite well. Without harshness or edges. A fine example of over-the-top flamboyance in balance. Delicious!

Pretty good wine for the price. A bit ‘hard’, but very much in the style of Quilceda, which tend to be harder wines that give up less when young than (say) a California wine. I always think of handling my Quilceda Creek like an approachable Bordeaux. At least 5 years. As a second wine I thought this might be readier than it is.

coravin’d two nice glasses of this. With limited air this is a bit restrained; tar and very tight oak. Feels nice across the palate but is lacking the sweetness you expect as this wine matures.
Look forward to watching this age and retrying in another six months. Hopefully the balance of this bottle isn’t destroyed from the Coravan.

First attempt at the '15s. Gave it some air. A bit disappointed. Solid full bodied black and blue fruit, but not ripe, complex, or notable. Decent finish. Have enjoyed the '13s and '14s more. Have 17 more to go.....Will give them some time.

Followed over four hours, half decanted with the balance straight from the bottle.
Tight nose with dark berries, forest floor and spice tightly wound together. Equally young across the palate; while there is ample fruit here, it’s young and requires serious aeration to bring it out. There is also young wood, and the wine seems a bit watery.
I imagine this still need some time to pull all the flavors together;this is the most disjointed vintage of this wine I’ve tasted a year after release. Will be interesting to watch it’s evolution.

Folks, this is just a great wine. This bottle is sub $50 when purchased from the winery, a little more on secondary market, and checks all the boxes to put it north of 90 pts. Fun to put in a lineup with something decent from one of our beloved California valleys. Nose shares much in common with Napa favorites. Followed by mineral rich palate with bitumen, peppered cherries and raspberry jam (Dr. Pepper maybe?). Good stuff. (Highly recommend a respectable decant first). In fact, showed beautifully on second day

Poured through a Vinturi into a decanter. Consumed over the next few hours
This is a BIG, fruity wine, but it's still too young. The fruit needs to mellow a bit to allow the other flavors to shine through. Others have mentioned a lot of tannins, but I did not notice that.
Be aware, the alcohol content is 15.2%. Amazingly, you don't taste the alcohol. It's hidden behind all of the fruit. But you will figure out that it's high alcohol the next morning.

Probably the richest and most stylistically resembling its big brother of any CVR I’ve tried. Had a glass on a Saturday night and revisited tbree nights later. Plenty of stuffing and loads of gorgeous fruit. Finish is long but a bit oak dominated at this stage. Another year or two to integrate should pay off handsomely. 93+

WOW! What a rich, full bodied, elegant wine. It hits all the points of a great wine that I went back and bought a full case from the vineyard. It's lush, rich, dense with a great mouth feel and full of dark fruit and soft silky tannins. At this QPR it's an amazing wine

First of four bottles. Decanted about 90 minutes. Agree with note below. Drinking very young but shows great potential. Heavy oak should mellow over time. Better on day two. The ‘09 is drinking perfectly now and expect this will do the same. Will wait 3-4 years before opening another.

We wanted to get a benchmark of this young cab. On the open, it was tannic and a bit "rough around the edges". After about 40 minutes of air, it started to open, and kept evolving for about 3 hours. After it had opened, it was spectacular for a young cab. It had a very different nose and flavor profile from a Napa cab. The nose was violet flowers and the flavor profile was blue and black fruits with a notable roasted plum flavor that coated the palate (after being exposed to air for 3 hours). Lush and viscous were other sensory characteristics on the back palate. Very unique wine. We are not touching the other 2015 QC CVR's we have for a few years.

Doubled decanted and then consumed over two nights. It was partially due to drinking a glass after having a glass of $10 Renegade red wine, but I was quite impressed. The wife raved as well. Balance, structure, velvety texture...a “wow” wine at any price. A steal for $40.

This was a surprise. The bottle is only $45, but drinks like a $70 bottle. Big ripe sweet red fruit and well balanced. It was not clawing and the tannins were just enough to tame the fruit. It was a pnp and would go well with pizza, chicken, cheese etc. I would not open with red meat as I like more complexity with steak or lamb. Excellent buy and a go to wine without breaking the bank. A great QPR.

Huge wine. Lovely berry nose with blackberries, blueberries, some bramble, fig, herbs, cedar, violets, and earth on the nose. Cassis and berries, tart cherry, herbs, earth, and alcohol spice on the palate. Nice acidity, nice underlying tannin structure, medium-long finish. This is not a shy wine. Concentrated, alcoholic, fruit-forward, but also pretty fresh. The alcohol doesn’t show as much a few days later. I liked the 2014 a little better, as it was also big but a little friendlier.

Had a splash on night 1, then remainder following evening with delivery pizza. Surprised at how approachable the '15 is this young - in comparo to priors. Hopefully the over-oaked trendline continues down.
Big, big over the top Wine. Lots of everything, fruit, oak, alchohol and more fruit. Beautiful wine! I’d prefer to hold these until the oak influence less prominent. Had a 14 and a 15 open for Xmas dinner. I think slightly preferred the 2014 to the 2015. Both were amazing. Cvr is the $40 Wine that all other $40 wines want to be when they grow up.

I agree with one of the other notes. This might be one of the best young CVR to date.
Decanted, drank over about 2 hrs today. Intense nose showing loads of brown sugar, baking spice, cinnamon, clove and oak toast. On the palate, rich and dense, but excellent acidity keeps this vibrant, with loads of red and black fruit and more toasty notes, together with some oaky bitterness. Nice finish, showing fine woody tannin. Not a hint of heat on the finish.
Day 2: Left on counter overnight (unrefrigerated), and this has fallen apart a bit. Shows a touch metallic, with the brown sugar and black fruit in the background. Still pretty good on the palate, though it leans a little shrill. Tannin slightly attenuated, but still present.
Day 3: Left on counter again. I must have eaten something funny before I tasted yesterday, because today this just tastes like a softer version of what I had on day 1. Not shrill at all, but does show somewhat sweet.

Dark ruby red and a hint of sediment. Nice red fruits on the nose with a touch of oak and incense. More red and blue fruits on the palate. Pretty well integrated with smooth tannins considering it's youth. Not super complex though. Consistent notes on night 1 and night 2.
I think I liked the 2014 better at this point in it's life, but this is still a good value at $42 from the winery. I look forward to seeing how the other bottles develop with some more time.

The 2015 Quilceda Creek CVR is a very solid wine, even more so at its price point. Great QPR. This bottle came on the heels of drinking the QC Galitzine, which made for an interesting contrast. The CVR wasn't very complex, but not in a bad way. I noticed dominating notes of plum and vanilla, simple but quite good. Medium tannins with medium to a slightly long finish it didn't seem to change much from the first to the last glass. Great pop and pour wine, it will be interesting if the wine improves much over time. Slightly better than the 2014 CVR, which was also quite good. I'll probably end up buying several more bottles in the spring if available as it is a 98-100 if bonus points were given for QPR.

81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. A blend of some of Washington's best sites. Decanted. Deeply scented fruit forward notes of marionberry, fig, black plum and dark cherry that are followed by rich notes of mocha, and cassis and again with cigar box, spice and hints of violets and minerals. The palate offers plush textures, super fine tannins and juicy acidity. Dense fruit on the palate shows rich notes of blackberry, dark cherry, fig and plum that intermingle with cassis, baking spice, mocha, vanilla, tea and hints of smoke, earth and mineral. The finish lingers with density letting the individual components stand out but also playing off each other with harmony.

Tasted twice over two days just after picking these up. Right out of the bottle the wine shows bright fruit, crushed stone, tight tobacco and a brief, front-palatte finish. Other bottle was decanted and followed over 90 mins, and showed less stone, more modest dark berry fruit and seemed lighter. I couch both notes given the wines youth and my lack of experience drinking these so soon after release. 89 when decanted, maybe 90 right out of the bottle. With plenty of these remaining, I’ll let these rest for at least 6-9 months before approaching.

Well...I didn't hold this until 2025 like I said I would. But the flavors here are spot on with my note from earlier this year, less the yeasty bits.

And a great value
Dark fruit, currant, spice, tobacco.

With limited air this is a bit restrained; tar and very tight oak. Feels nice across the palate but is lacking the sweetness you expect as this wine matures.

The palate was rich and layered with flavors of black currant, blackberry, blueberry, plum, mocha, cocoa, licorice, herb and spice.

Tasted at the Quilceda release weekend. Soft, black cashmere fruits make this the go to wine while the flagship softens and integrates. Bought six.

Needed a bit of air to integrate, then tasty, crowd-pleasing red with bright red fruit, coconut and cinnamon.

Best CVR to date? I think it is better than 12 and 08. Deep dark berry nose. Taste is almost 1st label quality. not too grippy (but still very tannic) Huge blackberry, currant, cassis. Very long follow.

Really nice cool from the cellar and with no decant. Fresh plum, decent concentration despite this being a basic wine. Wet stones, a little tobacco, agree with previous comments. I enjoyed this more than the 2014
