Dry January....I remember not being so impressed with my first of these about a year or so ago. Tonight was better - light bodied, vaguely floral with a whiff of kerosene. Soft wine, no acidity or tension and a short final. One can't expect miracles I suppose. I preferred this to water but in some cruel way it seemed to remind me of what "real" Riesling could taste like.

Pale yellow. Apple bouquet. Palate seems mostly like apple juice, with a few floral topnotes that vaguely remind one of Riesling. Medium bodied, a suggestion of sugar and decent balance. Also some length. But somehow this did not come together as a package for me - felt like there was a hole in it. I think if I prefer to drink something non-alcoholic I will not try and drink wine - I'd rather have any number of mocktails.

Almost colourless, spritz in the glass. Nearly imperceptible nose of fresh yeast - not wine-like at all, let alone varietally correct. The taste is pleasant, and almost approaches a mediocre Hock, with mandarin juice and good malic acidity. I wonder if the lack of character is due to using a poorer base wine, or the process by which alcohol is removed? Either way, this is disappointing given the price and producer - it’s perfectly drinkable, but one-dimensional. [Screwcap; 0% abv; Waitrose, £6.99].

Nose is ok, but flavour is not quite right. Artificial sweetness and lingering bitterness.

Whiff of kero. Lime water with body. Soft. Not the worst wine I’ve ever tasted.

Light and crisp with subtle citrus notes.
Is it the most amazing wine ever? No. Is it solid for what it is? Absolutely.

Zero alcohol, recognizable Riesling, with 5.1% sugar a bit too sweet, but still drinkable and sufficiently balanced.
