Totally legit. Served blind to me, and I guessed a decade younger.. MSR spatlese was a good call. Still youthful and green, with lime peel, lychee, minimal petrol. Great stuff

Lots of white flowers, wet rocks, elderflower, lime pee. Creamy palate, key limes, elderflower syrup but don't worry it's not sticky sweet or anything. Not insanely complex but everything that is there is perfect.

Asian pear, lime, and too much sugar for me to perceive any of the really interesting things that make Riesling great. Good acid balance, though, and at least it's refreshing. Somebody suggested "If you don't like this then you don't like spatlesen" and I accept that.

Killer, mature riesling, one of my consistent favorites. This is lacy and subtle with gentle scents of petrol, lime, rocks, but with great sneaky length and intensity. Very lime margarita. Gets better with air as the finish gets longer and the acids come out, but remains barely sweet (for a spatlese) and ever so elegant and restrained. Loved it. Drinking great now but seems like it will hold even as the sugar fades.

This was already in my glass as I walked in the door. I'm not sure if I even greeted my friends, as I saw the glass shimmering in the corner of my eye, grabbed it, 'called' Riesling, then 'called' fantastic Riesling, then proceeded to fawn over it. So, if my friends are reading this, please forgive me. Oh, and this was blanquito's bottle, and my experience was the same as his, except some freshly sawed wood weaved in and out like some magician's trick. At least it was consistently magical ;-)
Served double-blind; in such a beautiful spot right now and for the next 8-10 years.

Hasn't changed much since I had it in 2012. Understated and delicate as ever with very fresh citrus, apple and pear fruit tinged with floral and creamy notes, and a stony undercurrent beneath. The sweetness is quite moderate, less than many Kabinett today, and there's that powerful '01 acidity beneath giving it great focus and precision.

Normally not really my thing but this had a refreshing lime-ade and petrol character that was gulpable. Showed some TCA after a while but was miraculously clean the next night. Maybe it's the weather but this was great.

Just like the last bottle I opened; incredibly refreshing and vibrant with wonderful purity and precision to the flavours and that great balance and length so many of the '01 Mosels show.

Incredibly pure, piercingly bright lemon and strawberry fruit framed by gentle vanilla cream and slate notes on a lightweight frame. There's wonderful precision and focus here and a sense of real refreshment. Drinking superbly now, but still very youthful. Glad to have more.

really impressed where this has gone. big, intense fruit saddled by bracing acidity. very clear across the board with stunning freshness and persistence. classic sour green apple and thyme. long finish. crispy fruit. classic Mosel. classic 2001.

I own too little Riesling. A sweet attack is countered by a wonderfully spicy palate with lemon, green fruit, flowers and minerals. Intense and precise with great acidity that makes this a great partner for cheeses for example. Still very young with plenty of years left. Enjoyed over 2 days.

Better than my last bottle of this wine. At first the wine needed to blow off some sulpher. Once it did it looked pretty good. More mature on the nose than I would had thought already showing a bit of kerosene. The palate had good weight but could have used a bit more acid for my taste.

I am usually a fan of this producer and this vineyard but I found this wine to be a bit clumsy. The wine had real a real good nose, atypical of mosel riesling but seemed a bit hollow in the mid pallate. It was not a bad wine but could have used a bit more acid to liven things up.

Lovers of sour lemon-lime margaritas should look no further. After two days I’m left with the feeling that the sour acidity is totally masking everything in this wine, because I’m just not getting anything. The finish isn't lingering nor complex. Still, at $12.50 this is quite a bargain on a Spatlese, but it’s gonna need a few years. Drink after 2006.

8% abv. While this was a good German riesling spatlese, I think it would have been better drank a few years earlier. Starting to get tired.

very light color, nutty nose, lime, grapefruit, nice balance w/acidity, creamy? OK, but not memorable. Shut down?
