Boxing day at NY Verden: Consistent with previous bottle. Champagne that had broad appeal with its ripe fruit and being on the sweeter side. A crowd pleaser and a versatile pairing with food.

July 2018 disgorgement, 69% Chardonnay, 31% Pinot Noir, 4g/l dosage. One of the best value champagnes that I've had. Green apple nose that points towards a Chardonnay-heavy blend, Underneath the creamy texture that are ripe pears, brioche that makes it a very food-friendly champagne. No malo apparently but I suspect it sees some oak, the fuller texture works well with the freshness of the wine here. Seriously impressive stuff, grower champagnes and warmer vintages are always a good bet.

DG 11/2017 This remains as tight as the last time. Lots of citrus fruits: lemons, limes, tangerines and a particular dominate of pink grapefruit; green apples, plums, exotic fruits such as dragon fruit, banana and pineapple, a hint of smoke and a balsamic feeling, wet stones and chalk that, with more bottle age, I'm sure will turn into some toasty notes, but now they are just a very light reminiscence of butter and nuts. Compared to other 2009s we've drunk, this particular cuvée shows as much younger (perhaps due to non-malo), and needs more bottle age before it will reach its full potential; this bottle in particular was difficult, it only opened up to around 65-70%, with lots of room for improvement. High acidity, limited expression right now. We have had the chance to drink the 2005, which was an excellent bottle. The bottom line is: store! 89pt

42% Pinot Noir, and it really shines through here. Several things stand out. The red fruit dominance on the nose and palate - loads of raspberry and cranberry, with structure. Then the length - super long length. Then the 9 years on lees - so subtle, so smooth, so rounded.
This really is a beautiful champagne that will stand up to Salmon and whatever else you throw at it. Definitely lay it down for further ageing if you would like as it has the acid, the structure and the fruit to go on for a lot longer.

DG 07/2018 Pineapple, lychee, dragon fruit, mango, blackcurrant, cardamom, fennel, minerals, smoke, black tea and camomile, a hint of caramel. Juicy texture with lots of bubbles, moderate acidity. Youthful but really enjoyable. 91pt

Encore ? Une paire pour la garde.

A perfectly serviceable champagne. Bought this at a decent price - will not rebuy - not worth the premium over say a Louis Roederer 242.

Noticeably corked as soon as we opened it; bitter on the palate, hollow and stagnant. No improvement throughout the bottle.

Underbar. Hoppar ur glaset! Kaprifol och vaxljus, parat med våt sten. Lagom syra, grönt äpple. Eken finns där men som en klang.
