Sadly, my last btl. On the nose:.bright lemon, soft sea breeze, crystalline nose. On the palate: spectacular acidity, lemon, sea salt, softest lanolin, fantastic density, with some sour apple coming on with time. Fantastic.

Opened yesterday. Notes from Day 2 open. A fantastic showing with razor sharp acidity. On the nose:soft lanolin, sour apple, lemon. On the palate...wow, that acidity is so nice, lemon and stone. Lovely finish. Primary, but fantastic right now.

A glass via coravin. Nicely expressive straight out of the glass - apricot, orange, peaches and smoke tinged throughout, takes on a bit more of a herbal note with air. It carries through some of that concentrated orange fruit flavour onto the palate, while the trademark acid kicks in across the mid-palate, it isn't as prominent as some other wines from this producer I've tried. I quite enjoyed this, will leave my other bottle for 5-6 years and see what happens.
27/03/2021 - Finished off the bottle from 1/4 full after using coravin over the past year. No signs of wear and tear from the coravin access. Smoky, herbal, plenty of that apricot and orange soaked fruit. Probably noticing the acid a bit more as it sizzles across the palate, but that could also be just me.

Bibendum Portfolio Tasting 2019: Herbal and smokey with honeydew aromas as well. Palate has good drive and some acid buzz to go with some concentrated fruit. Good length as well.

BODY: light bodied; pale yellow color with a hint of golden richness.
TASTE: very dry; strong mineral; started opening-up significantly after about 30 minutes open; high acidity, but not screechy; surprisingly good pair with a pecorino ice cream. Low-level excellent. Not quite as good as the '14 vintage of same bottling. Hold.

Chenin study (et al.) (Chicago, IL): I liked this more than the 2011 Clos des Carmes (which was far too high-acid and structural without any flesh to counterbalance it). This bottle, while still having some of the green spicy things is overall a little more balanced with just a hint of sweetness from fruit here. A little more expressive than the last time I tasted this (earlier this year).

New Saumur Releases from Romain Guiberteau (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Of all 4 whites, this was the only one that was more Savennières than Saumur in its funky, wooly nose. Bigger and more glycerine than the 2017 Moulins with real Chenin texture. Some wood. No lack of acidity, but not as electric as the 2017 wines. I did not care for this as much as other vintages of the Clos de Guichaux.

Eclectica at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): Mild reduction on the nose here. You can pretty much smell the acidity as well; I do like the steely qualities in this wine, and that slight hint of fruit and mineral as well. Obviously taut, this needs plenty of time to soften up.

Soft on the palate.
Hint of sweetness but a high octane acidity at the core. Melon flavours on the palate. Gentle mouthfeel. Nice balance.
