  • Very tight & austere despite a (short) decant. This may need several more years to open up (or a long decant - see Day 2 note below). Notes of oak, dark fruit on nose. More oak, blackberry, leather, and lots of tannins on palate. A rather sharp, angular mouthfeel on the palate. I'm guessing a drinking window that starts around 2024...

We had this with tri-tip roast, but that didn't seem to help showcase it much.

Opened up quite a bit more on Day 2, with more fruit and a rounder palate. Cinnamon, clove plum on nose, baking spices and blackberry on palate with softer tannins. Spicy leather/oak finish.

IF YOU DRINK THIS SOON, GIVE IT _AT LEAST_ 2-4 HOURS TO DECANT.

  • Ruby in color. Coffee, blackberry, black cherry on the nose with some depth. Medium acid, medium plus tannin, medium body, medium plus finish of cedar and black fruit. A quality wine perhaps slightly overpriced and may have a couple of years ahead.
