Surprisingly okay. While definitely past peak, there are some nice oxidative almond notes. As I think back about the flat vin santos I’ve had in the past, I think a spätlese with decent acidity and fruit isn’t a bad alternative. I’ve certainly had better spatleses of comparable age but they may have been from better vintages. Held up reasonably well with only 1/4 bottle under Coravin after 2 weeks. Nonetheless, drink up as this isn’t improving.

Delicious and chuggable. No doubt past its prime, but still showing some beautiful notes. Petrol, bruised peach and green apple, slate, and lingering acid.
With Indian food. Spot on spatlese. Spectacular nose of ripe pears and golden apples. Kind of a hybrid Rhine/Mosel wine with both yellow and green fruits. Acid structure is perfect. This is yum and really worked with the curry.

Delicious golden hue that only hints of the fruit packed on the inside. After 8 years, this wine is still effervescent and alive. Melons and exotic fruits have merged with the sugars--still sweet but well balanced. I'm glad I've got two more but wished I had stocked up.

Delicious! Not to sweet, the sugar seems integrated by now, the acid is still alive, and this wine was perfect with the spicier-than-normal Chinese we had. Perfect after the meal, too. Bright, ripe orchard fruits.

I am so sad this was my last bottle. It was so well balanced for the spicy Thai I made. I would love to have another case of this. I will miss you Milz!

Wow. This is the best $16 riesling I have ever bought by a wide margin. Ripe open nose of quince and minerals. Uber-rich and fresh palate. This tastes like a 2006 / 2007 cross and has none of the softness that I tend to find in the 2002 mosels. The ripeness of the 2006, combined with the minerality of the 2007s. Medium weight, sweet baked apple, some peaches... Gorgeous lemonade and minerals on the back end. Long... Impossible to put the glass down. I wish I could buy a case of this. Thanks Garagiste.

I just love this wine. Gold in color with frizzante bubbles. Diesel nose. Tastes of diesel, pears and honey. Passes the warm wine test with flying colors. Just plain great.

Just got 4 more bottles in the spring shipment from Garagiste. I opened one for grilled halibut with a Thai pepper/soy/brown sugar/garlic/vinegar reduction glaze. Great pairing. This bottle seems to pick up where my old ones ended a few years back. No discernible age. I was hoping that the sweetness had died a little but it is still the most remarkable aspect to this wine. Lots of stone fruit. There is more diesel on the nose than to the taste at this age. This kind of surprises me as I thought it would become the more dominant aspect. No end in sight for this wine. Can hold for another 5-10 years. WA way off on this one.

Pale gold in color, this riesling is lush and slightly minerally with notes of tropical fruit and honey. A lovely wine that went great with sushi and also filled the role of dessert quite nicely.

I did not get the overwhelming petrol that previous tasters did -- a little but my bottle was very floral and fresh with a strong bright citrus element and a little light zippy spice. It seemed to be holding up very well and easily could have aged another 5 years.
It is a very well balanced wine that was not at all cloying (for the 8.5% alcohol). My bottle at least wasn't ruled by an one element.

Loads of petrol on the nose - it's not a significant nose, but the clear aroma is petrol, without much else. Nicely developed, white peaches, custard, good sweetness - in a good space now.

nose: petrol petrol petrol. palate: I'm not really 'into' petrol' in wine, but this was fabulous. Clean, focused fruit complemented perfectly by the rubberized/synthetic flavor, and a concentrated acidity that has lost its baby fat. Wonderful stuff. Also, the promised layer of mold (Garagiste) was indeed on the cork.

Mmm this stuff is nice with a nose of lemon and a hint of petrol. The palate was rich and delicious especially with home made Pad Thai.
