These 4th generation growers have been producing their own Champagne since 1929 and are located in the town of Chouilly. They own 18 ha spread across 40 parcels. 100% Chardonnay from their oldest Chouilly Grand Cru vines in the Cote des Blancs which are planted on shallow chalk soils. 6g/l dosage. I previously had the 2007 and 2008 vintages of this wine and this 2012 was the best. Light yellow color. Moderate bead. Cotton candy nose. Very bright on the palate with notes of chalk and almonds. 94 points.

Clear - Medium Gold - Aggressive mouse. Steady stream of fine bubbles throughout. Definite lees / bread / brioche heavy on nose. Green apple, lemon zest, minerality. Creamy. M+ to high acid, Med Alc (12.5% Abv)
Notes from winemaker: 6y on lees aging.
Special Club: Concept started in 1971 for 'Grower Champagne'. Bottle with a special shape, created exclusively for them & used only by them. The Club comprises 28 artisan wine makers, selected from the finest areas of the Champagne region, each one recognized for the quality of their work. The Club is the only organization in Champagne to select its members according to a set of unrelenting quality standards: Each champagne is subject to two blind tastings (once at the still wine stage before bottling and again after 3 years ageing in bottle) by a panel of passionate and distinguished oenologists and wine makers.
A Special Club champagne may only be made in outstanding vintage years. 4 years aging minimum is required.

Very nice fruit, just a touch of yeast. Eminently sippable. If I wanted to introduce a neophyte to good, textbook Champagne, this would be a leading candidate.

Had this with chips, caviar and creme fraiche as a starter to a sushi meal...was delightful...toasty with flavors of brioche and apple and a yeasty undercurrent. In a great spot right now...Would buy again!

Never warmed up to this one. Shows too much oxidation for my liking. A constant distraction for my palate but others will rave about it. Not flawed, just me. Thankfully, I only grabbed one.

Minns att jag var besviken påå första flaskan men sedan fick den andra ligga ett par år och nu var den helt klart bättre! Stor skillnad beroende på vilka kupor vi drack denna ur!

Nose: The Nose is fresh and lively with a salinity to it along with lemon peels, apples, pears, white fruits, crushed rocks, warm bread, biscuits, jasmin, mint, and acacia flowers.
Taste: The feel is medium bodied with refreshing, high acidity acidity. There is excellent balance and poise with apples, pears, crushed rocks, white fruits, acacia flowers, warm bread, mint, and jasmin notes.
Overall: This is an excellent and lovely Blanc de Blancs. It shows off a lot of white and citrus fruits along with a clean saline backdrop. This can certainly age for at least another 5-8+ years, but I really like what it brings right now.

Chouilly. This was initially a bit thin and boring, but rounded out with air and ended up being quite pleasant to drink. The style reminded me a bit of Gimonnet, whose wines I rather enjoy in riper vintages but find a bit slight otherwise. Overall I was happy to drink it, but it's not something I'm inclined to buy again.

Bread, hazelnuts, acid well judged and not intrusive. Perhaps too little for some. Has a more profound layer of red apples but on the whole just an ice champagne but nothing to get excited over.
