  • Pop and pour. Notes from 24 hrs open. On the nose: pineapple, meyer lemon, a kiss of vanilla. Large scaled on the nose and better put-together today than yesterday. On the palate: fantastic acidity, and richness, soft ginger, meyer lemon, and wet stone. Some tangy citrus and a long finish. Needs a lot of air right now, so wait a while on final btl (even though this is a ripe '17!).

  • First bottle from a half case purchased from the Belgian importer in 2020. Decanted for three hours. This wine is not really at ease with itself right now. The fruit centres around ripe apple, and the palate is quite structured with lots of bitters from the skins, but the whole thing does not really come together and it certainly does not display the magical blend of finesse and gravitas I am looking for in this wine. No obvious errors, just not "bien dans sa peau". Conservative score.

Shows Grandcru scale, detail but s little lack the power

  • The texture of this wine is excellent, a light but substantial “polished” feel to it. Succulent fruit, well balanced with tension and minerality. This is a super 1er on par with Chartron’s grand crus.

  • A big wine, with a touch of reduction and some oak, but handled extremely well. This is round and with a touch of sweetness on the finish (which I think is from the oak that hasn't quite integrated). Blind, most guessed this to be Batard or 1er cru Meursault. As someone once noted, this is a bit of a baby Chevy, so I can understand the winemaking here - the density can handle the oak; there's a lot of acidity here that I think will be brought into great balance as this ages. Already a very good wine, I think this has tremendous potential.

  • Clean, pure, and fresh; the clarity of this wine is one of its most compelling attributes. Yellow citrus and pineapple flavors are flanked by quince, white stone, and some vanilla notes. Unadulterated in its profile, the sophisticated expansion of flavor succeeds due to a heightened refinement and focused delivery. Finishes as it starts, glossy and polished.

Those looking for more intense power and broad-shouldered succulence and breadth may find this style a bit too civil and disciplined. It’s a beautiful muse; less of a bodacious smokeshow centerfold.

I still recommend holding a couple-three more years to see how the overall depth forms-up after some short term cellaring.

  • A baby, but had to benchmark. On the.nose: pineapple, meyer lemon, vanilla oak, a touch of herbs and wet stone. On the palate, lovely acidity, a touch of vanilla, some spice, lemon/lime, pastry cream..fantastic density, and a long, slightly spicy finish.

  • Fresh squeezed Meyer lemon juice, quince, unripe pineapple rind, white melon, limestone, and some pumice. Linear but focused and lively. A good mix of yellow and white fruit. Beautifully balanced, but comes across young and slightly immature. Has a serious streak that gives promise for the future. 93-94++ points, with definite upside after 2023.

  • Blek strågul. Servert blindt. Svært pen nese. Ren hvit frukt med et grønt eucalyptus-aktig slør over. Dyr eik med kledelig toast. Sykt pen. Alle lander på blodfersk Puligny, Premier Cru. Spenstig og ung i munn med et veldig ferskt preg. Relativt slank. Sødmefull frukt med moderat modning. Pen, men ikke elektrisk syre. Medium konsentrasjon og lengde.

  • A friend who’s very much in to wine, though not that in to Burgundy made the comment “Anyone who doesn’t think they like oak should try this wine.” Indeed, there is some stylish, creamy oak to this that’s impossible to ignore. It marries very well with the wines underlying acidic freshness and mineral impressions. There’s a generous amount of yellow fruit on the palate, mostly meyer lemon and lemon oil with lemon meringue and green apple accents. Coats the mouth well toward the back and shows good length through its medium plus finish.

Possessing good depth and inherent power that fit its level, this is perhaps more delicious than serious, owing to its slightly rounded nature, but without a doubt, there is excellent material here. Found this a little more together and ready than the 17’ Chartron Clos de la Pucelles recently tasted. Looking forward to following both of these beauties as they age.

  • Upon PNP this has Grand Cru depth all the way for under $100. The nose is very elegant with lemon oil and some pear notes. The palate is striking and moderately long. Beautifully balanced acid with hints of smoke and matchstick. Chartron's 16's & 17's are all really good.
