A lush, full-bodied white blend. Perhaps the richest Sauv Blanc blend I’ve ever had. Age has mellowed some of the funk I experienced in my first bottle a year ago. Oak is evident in the nose but subdued in the mouth. Long finish with white peach and a pleasant bitterness. Drank by itself, really enjoyable.

Aromas include cantaloupe, honeydew, fresh mint, papaya, lanolin, and graham cracker crust. Medium bodied with smooth, juicy acid and a lush, creamy mouthfeel. Flavors include lime flavored shaved ice, lactose, fresh mint, dried tarragon, melon, and sweet lime juice. This is quite complex with a lot of depth and bright juicy acid. This bottle is even better than the one we had in 11/22. We have two more bottles and I’m looking forward to stringing them out over the next four years.

Retail $50. Heavy Bottle. 79% Sauvignon Blanc, 21% Sauvignon Gris. Tasted along side the 2020 Elevage Blanc and while the 2016 has more of a muted nose, holy cow. As it warmed a touch, I picked up a panoply of fruit aromas: peach, pear, citrus. There was also a mineral aspect and a slight honeyed, caramel note. The palate is so complex, with great fruit and weight. The mid palate is just amazing. Rich, on the verge of unctuous but completely stunning. While this is not labeled as such, it technically is a Sauvignon Blanc and I can count on one hand the list of other SBs I have tasted in the class of this 2016 Elevage Blanc. 96 Points.
Beautiful nose shows a little of big age: Marcona almond, dried apricot, dried pear, preserved lemon, and orchid. Nearly full bodied with round acid, the mouthfeel is glycerin in viscosity and texture. Flavors include pear, white peach, dried marigold petal, vanilla curd, and flinty minerality. This is starting to come into its own, and I think it probably has another two to four years of interesting development ahead.

Fresh, herbal nose. Slightly caramel/butterscotch and tropical fruits, creamy, and oak on the palate. Welll balanced, tart. Nicely complex old world style.

One of my favorite vintages of Elevage Blanc. Neutral on the palate initially explodes into a wave of grapefruit, soften by notes of white melon. Long finish.

Terrible QPR at $50, but also not a bad wine. Drinks more fresh and fruity and dime-a-dozen. There are hundreds of similar wines priced under $25 that match or outcompete this. Chimney Rock can make some good wines, but the prices are rarely competitive.

Berries balanced PG 21% and 79% Sav Blanc. A little sweet but a big hit with the girls who tastes peaches and apricots and light Lemmon? Very refreshing.

Buttery and oaky, bitter and toasty notes over red apple, fig, apricot. Moderate acid, medium finish.

Not much experience with this style of wine, but washed down everything bagel with cream cheese, lox, red onion, and caper splendidly.

Drinks better cold. Not bad for a summer night or paired with a white fish, but not worth the $50 price tag IMO.
