Root Day - Cork sound, wine ingress about 1/2 way up cork. Decanted off virtually no sediment (a couple of hard flakes about the size of a dime). On the Pop and pour it has a browning core and rim. The nose is warm with spice, cigar tobacco, licorice root, old leather, damp earth, dried red flowers and dried red fruit. On the palate it’s very smooth with fully resolved tannins, medium acidity and medium weight. The flavours are dried red fruit, mushroom, tobacco, leather along with a sous-bois that holds it all together. The finish has red florals, spice, dried fruit and light herbs. Later - this is such a delicious sipping and contemplative wine. It went extremely well with a 4 cheese pizza but just sitting and sipping now it is so engaging and comforting. All of the elements in the flavour profile have joined into one glorious meld. Should be a 94 but I’ll stick with the 93.

Nose of sweet earth and black raspberry. A touch of acid on the mid palate. Lots of sour black cherry, a good tannic finish. Cultured and potent, a nice Tuscan, still enough stuffing for a couple years.

Clear dark garnet core med intensity, Clean nose of damp earth, mushroom, sour cherry and that indefinable 'Italian' nose. Dry with med+ acid, med alcohol, body and (ripe) tannin. Flavours of sour cherry, spice, and chokecherry. Ripe fruit flavours with good balance auger well for this wine. Drinkable now but able to hold and develop another 5 - 8 years.

Pop and pour. Some dark fruits on the nose, but pretty tight right after opening. After about 45 minutes it opened up a lot and the nose was full of dark fruit, cherry, and even a little vanilla as the bottle continued to open up. Didn't decant at all, wish I would have decanted for an hour or so to see how much more the wine wold open up. Medium body, pretty short finish. The first glass was very tannic, but the tannins softened considerably after 30-45 minutes and actually baanced out pretty well with the cherry flavors. The taste of dark fruits, plum mostly overpowered anything else initially, but as the wine opened up, the cherries came to the forefront of my palette.

restaurant bottle pop-n-pour. very tight on opening. lingered over the meal and it started to open, but this would have been better with more air. cherry notes are pronounced with solid structure behind. very good.

Tried pop'n'pour and with 1 hour decant. Definitely recommend an hour decant, as it opens up so much and really shines but it can be drunk straight from the bottle. Dark ruby colour. Some black fruit with some tea and mineral on the nose. Black fruit, mostly plum with some cherry on the palate. Good acidity and nice tannins. Decent finish. Fantastic QPR.

Decent little wine. The cherry and plum fruit is quite clean, and there is a nice herby touch too, but the alcohol brings too much heat and makes it unbalanced. OK effort for the pricepoint.

Ruby with pink rim. Pleasant nose, plums and cherry along with earthy and tea leaf notes. It is medium bodied and nicely balanced with sweet fruit, a good acidity and a spicy finish. Modern, friendly style. 13,5% alc.

Wonderful Italian that is priced right and great with food. This needs about a 1/2 hour to soften a bit. It can be a bit harsh immediately after opening. A very nice IGT wine that allows a Super-Tuscan to be priced right. I will get more.

Very bright, rich, raw, juicy, savoury...really fun, i'll definitely buy this again. Yummy. Too good for the money, and I bet this can age beautifully.

Rich, aromatic and vibrant. The cherries and citrus almost come off as pomegranate. A beautiful inexpensive wine. I'll continue to buy.
