Clear red garnet. Good colour still. Not overly brown. First note remains clean red berry! Juicy plum as well. On the palate, there is dusty red fruit. Just a hint of funk. Notes of chocolate as well, even on day 2. Delicious, gentle red. Drink now but not falling over if well cellared (this is from my own cellar since release).

Found this in a corner of my cellar, must have been bought years ago. Happily it was still drinking well, very mature in a full flavoured porty style but very enjoyable with the smoked cheddar that I had to hand.

Did not realize I still had an 04 of this around. Nose is revealing an earthiness coupled with some red cherries, on the palate get a very dusty taste, along with the red fruits, bit of pepper, coats the mouth, very well put together, long fruity finish with hints of oak. I liked this wine before and it has gotten better wth age, a very nice bottle of wine.

Brick red- little separation still. On the nose this is lovely with soft spicy red fruits, a hint of cherry and vanillin, and deeply scented- still young. The palate is true with soft velvety tannins, red berries, gentle vanilla oak, and the tannins just softening to perfection. Soft, supple and rewarding.

Black cherry, raspberry, plum, dried herbs, chocolate, touch of licorice. Black cherry on the palate, vanilla, but not sweet, light tannins. Medium finish. Not too much development in the glass although hints of violet did appear. Great value. Stood up well after a couple of French syrahs (ie not sweet and fruity).

Not the typical Aussie fruitbomb, this wine has evolved nicely. Spicy berries with a nice nose I was impressed when I saw the price I had paid. I guessed it was a $20 bottle.

This was a nice surprise at this price point. It did not have that cloying sweetness that plagues some Aussie Shiraz. Paula guessed it was a Shiraz and it had a nice nose of spice and dark fruit. There was a nice layered texture to this wine.

This is a good wine, but not a great wine. It has a great, fruity aroma and taste. The tannins are a little heavier than I would like, and there doesn't seem to be a interesting underlying structure. It is quite drinkable, but there are better choices at this price point.

when Wine spectator mentions a bit tart ...wow ... a LOT TART .... one wine class mentioned the issue when they press the grapes TOO HARD and split the seeds -- this green tart taste reminds me of this ...
Will return other bottles and try 2005 when it comes out. In the mean time will enjoy Peter Lehmann Clancy's

Nothing like most Barossa shiraz I have had. Not the big over the top dark-purple fruit bomb I am used to, and I actually thought that was a good thing. A bit of a bitter or sour flavor throughout, but a very drinkable and enjoyable bottle. Well balanced for a shiraz in this price range. Not sure I'd buy it again but at $11 (CostCo) this is a solid bargain.

This has evolved a lot since one year ago, when I first tried it. Well balanced, it seems less sweet and brighter. A year ago I scored it 87, now it's a solid 89.

Binny's Shiraz Tasting (St. Charles, Illinois): One of the more elegant Aussie Shiraz in its price range ($13). Old world nose. Medium bodied with some oaky notes and solid red fruit. Not as good as the outstanding 1998 but very good. 89-90 points.

Dark purple. Rich, deep, spicy nose with a sweet edge. Plum, cassis, oak, and a hint of ripe cheese. Powerful but not forward. The palate is more of the same - with juicy black fruits rounding everything out. A lhint of blueberry jam, too. Rich, dark and satisfying. My only concern is that odd aroma that reminds me of blue cheese. It's not strong, but it is a little disconcerting. Nevertheless, this is a good rich red, and would go very well with rare fillet steak. Not overly complex. [Booths, £7]

Decanted for 1 hr. Nose of red fruit and vanilla. Strawberry palate with a touch of vanilla and wax. In general this had mild and integrated tannins. Not your typical fruit-forward punchy shiraz. Actually a very nice change from the ordinary.

Screw cap which must be one of the early ones. Fruit driven, bright colour, drinking very well given the bottle notes. Much appreciated.........

This remains vigorous, retaining loads of rich, exhuberant fruit. Bold, supple. Will age easily for 3+ years. Exemplary vfm.
