Rich dark red, with a little fading on rim. After PnP, the nose is sweet with cherries and dark fruits. Cigars and herbs as well. Very well balanced, medium body with some nice grip. Somewhat unidimensional but really quite enjoyable to drink. I expect that this will fare better with some further decant/aging. But go ahead and drink.

Had with rigatoni and meatballs after 30 minute decant.
Needed a few hours to open up. Was better at room temp vs out of the wine fridge.. Nice quality wine, reserved, but in balance. Tannins were mouth coating. Overall no compliants, but would not buy again at this pricepoint (as we like some chianti classico just as well at almost half the price and the CC is probably more food friendly).

Pretty tart out of the bottle, this needs several hours of air and/or food. Cherry, tobacco, walnut wood. I enjoyed this but more cellar time would certainly help. Some upside.

Better than my first bottle, with more dark berries, but still pretty austere and not that much fun to drink. Will keep the last bottle for a few more years and see how that goes. And in the mean time buy some of the many, many Tuscan options that are actually delicious at this price.

I admit I probably would have called this a Tuscan Sangiovese if blind. It has those earthy and leathery notes. However the fruit is a touch darker. Aromatic nose, full flavored palate. Refreshingly acidic finish, though also a little astringent. Interesting blend and well made.

"Explosive nose. Funk, integrated fruits. Nice acidity. Finish shows great Tuscan fruit and lasting acidity and tannins. Plenty of green on the palate, enjoyable, has some blood mineral character too. Feels medium body. Good quality but not crazy about it. 92 range."

"Super complex nose of stewed black and red fruits. Vegetable notes, tobacco, dried fruits like fig. Palate is bodied and ripe but with the acid to hold it together, very quality mouthfeel. A high quality super tuscan with a good amount of age on it in the prime of its drinking window. 94pts."
Wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did, it had fantastic complexity and balance and more acid that I was expecting. Really just firing on all cylinders right now.

For the $30 I paid, this represents terrific value, and I regret not buying more. Fruit is black cherry and blackberry. Add tar, pepper, some tart elements. Others suggest graphite, which I see. I enjoy these heavier flavors (in contrast to bright fresh sweet fruit, which I find too cloying, or extracted jammy flavors, a la Cali cult cabs). This is slightly imbalanced, which is what stops it short of a 95+ rating. But it's not an extracted imbalance; the imbalance is in heavy earth flavors. Better than almost any New World cab/merlot blend for $30 and a strong value recommendation. Enjoy with a peppered steak, like we did tonight.
Thanks but no thanks. acidic, dominated by earthy and vegetal flavors without being terribly mature. Not loving this now and will leave the other bottles for 5 years to see if anything changes. Have with food if you have to have it now.
Pretty prominent nose once it’s opened up, mainly bramble and earth and a bit of funk. Not a lot of fruit there.
Flavor kind of similar. LOTS of acid which really dominates the impression. There is some fruit but it’s small, unripe blackberries with a lot more earth, vegetal and violet flavors. Not super tannic, but its there. Pretty full body and long finish.

The flagship wine from this estate. This Supertuscan is a blend of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah. 10-20% of the juice is siphoned off to increase concentration. Normally $55. Blueish purple color. A well rounded wine. Supple tannins with raspberry, lavender and chocolate notes. 94 points.
Had it with pasta and meatballs, and I didn’t have a wow experience for this wine. Maybe it’s not ready yet? Seems like a very light wine, no depth, and not so much full body.

Beautiful wine! Ruby in the glass; big dark fruit, graphite and leather notes, with a nice balanced oak presence; great tannin structure and med+ acidity. Still young but approachable now. - Once in the glass after decanting for 2hrs+ it really started to evolve... - Five more resting in the cellar and may look to acquire some more. Great QPR!

On the nose, powerful dark fruit notes are quickly followed by leather, oak and graphite. On the palate, this is full bodied with medium-high tannins.
This delicious SuperTuscan has a lot of potential, but needs a few more years in the cellar for the components to better integrate. Would not touch it for another 2 years.

A very, very good wine. Still quite young. Lots of gorgeous primary fruit and a nice graphite streak. Pleasant acidity gives this wine some serious lift. I wouldn’t have guessed that this is 50% Merlot, except for the slight funkiness I’ve seen in other Italian expressions of this grape.
The Syrah adds intimations of Northern Rhone to what is otherwise a VERY Bordeaux-style blend.
This wine was fairly dry for all the beautiful fruit... fine-grained tannins which did well with food. Oak presence noted, but deftly used here.
I’ll be curious to see how this develops.

This was good, it a bit young. Big fruit and oak driven wine, with a lot of tannic structure. Went well with deep dish pizza. I think the oak is a bit overpowering at the moment, and this will likely get much better with some additional cellar time.

Good stuff. Reminds me of the first Super Tuscans I drank back in the day. Really rich, dense and structured. Taste profile is 1 for 1 Christmas cake, so interesting. Needs a bit more time in the bottle unfortunately.

Powerful wine with 14% alcohol, this super tanxany wine with 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, 5% Petit Verdot. It has a powerful noise with strewberry jam, vanilla, oak and chocolate as well as a powerful spicy fav on the palate. A wine is too powerful for me.

At 28.00 worth every penny. Syrah expression dominates but that is great with red sauce, putanesca, and much more. Very versatile food wine. Nose of terroir, smoke, herbal noes, slight acetone. Dark black fruit with rich purple color. While the grapes are a Bordeaux blend with Syrah, the wine is more reminiscent of Northern Rhone then Bordeaux IMHO. Regardless a very, very good wine at a reasonable price point. Worth the try.

Whoa. Nose of blackberry, cherry, and spice jumps out of the glass. Ripe blackberry, cherries, and tar with good acidity, moderate tannins, and a lengthy finish. Very, very good now. Will be even better when it calms down just a bit. Love this.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, prune, plum, tar and cherry. It tastes like blackberry, prune, cherry, plum and tar. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

The nose shows fresh blackberries and a hint of graphite, polished and graceful, linear and fine in every aspect, full and intense with matching acid, balanced, flavors of blackberry, currant, red plum, herbs and mineral grace the tongue, a fabulous wine from a fabulous vintage, a perfect accompaniment with ribollita stew with sausage, well made!
