  • This wine is drinking spectacularly. The tannins are at a perfect level where the fruit is still solid, but the smoothness and mouthfeel are at an optimal point.

  • I will say that for a Washington cab in a more "old school" style it doesn't get much better than this.

The thing I see in this wine that I find often lacks in many modern cabs is balance. This wine is exquisitely balanced. I would have never guessed that there was 100% new oak on this.

My wife wanted to have this last night with our anniversary dinner, but otherwise I'd probably hold this at least another 5 years. That said, was enjoyable now and a bit of time in a decanter did it wonders.

  • Tasted at the Wine & Spirits Top 100 Symposium in NYC. From vines planted in 1959 aged in 100% new French oak. Fairly full bodied, masculine wine but very well controlled and not overdone in any dimension. Great texture and mouth feel, long and luxurious finish. Nearly wine-infanticide but this was actually more approachable than I expected, second taste even better. Probably needs another decade in the cellar or more but may be beautiful around its 10th birthday.

  • My wife and I tasted this at the Carriage House tasting room on 6/7/19. It had a rich, deep and complex nose of black currant, black cherry, sandalwood, tobacco, rose petal, anise and spice aromas. The palate was rich, elegant and balanced with flavors of black currant, black cherry, mocha, cocoa, tobacco, spice and minerals.

  • Nice higher end Washington bordeaux blend. Some liked it more than I did although I did think it was a good representation and vintage.

  • An incredible wine, layered in inflection-changing substance, which features suggestions of Pomerol on the bouquet and palate. Seamless and superbly balanced. Notably young and time will certainly serve it well. Recommend holding for a decade or longer, to achieve maximum affect. It should evolve and hold through 2035-2040.

  • Light brick colour

Relatively tight aromatics at this point, earthiness under (potentially exuberant) dark fruit continuing to palate
Subtle acidity lingers a long time into raspberry notes on finish. Refined tannins in a medium weight beauty
One of most engaging and controlled HH to date

  • This ranks among the prettiest and most balanced New World Bordeaux tributes that I have crossed paths with. It features a sublimity uncommon to the New World and puts the mind to Margaux in all regards.

The bouquet reflects purity of place and blend. The mouthfeel and handling bend the mind, and the finish has no understanding of 'quit'. A lightly sweetened coco powder-like dustiness graces the wine with textural intrigue. Enjoy bottles over the next year or two, or bury bottles in the cellar for seven to ten years+. Stunning! 95-97.

  • My wife and I tasted this at the Carriage House on 3/17/19. It had a deep, ripe, elegant nose of floral, cassis, blackberry, sandalwood, tobacco, sage, anise and spice aromas. The palate was rich, elegant and dry with flavors of cassis, blackberry, toast, anise, sage and spice.
