Great dark color, some dark fruit as well as some leather and heavy, heavy cedar box. Nice full body and excellent weight on the palate. The only problem I see here is that the oak was way overpowering. I am normally not turned off by oak, but when it dominates the wine and hides the fruit almost completely I have a problem. – JD88

Good wine, will definitely buy again. Actually I might go buy some more today. HurrahSyrah's notes from 2007 are right on. Nose smelled like hot jam, but there was no heat in this wine. Very good food wine and by itself as well.

Blind Spanish Tasting (Wesabi's Abode): Decanted for 1 hour. Despite no one else agreeing with me, I felt that there was something off with this bottle. In the glass, this exhibited a dark garnet color. On the nose, there was a musky smell with some barnyard in the mix. There was a hint of that wet cardboard smell as well with some blackberries and plums making up the fruit. On the palate, this wine was a bit funky... with a side of blackberries, plums and some licorice that made it through. Upon revealing what this wine was... this wine was nothing like what I remembered it being a year ago... thus it HAS to be flawed. NR

Dark purple in color, slightly cloudy; Dark fruit aromas and flavors. It had decent structure but came across as very rustic in style. It improved slightly after time in the decanter and in the glass. Crisp finish with good acidity. Hoping for further integration in the other bottles. A blend of 60% Grenache, 40% Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah. [~$18 on release; Splash decanted and suggest a longer decant to help open it up; 14.5% alcohol]

NC Vayniac Get Together (The Angus Barn-Raleigh, NC): Popped and poured. This wine is a blend of 60% Garnacha and the rest consisting of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah. This wine exhibited a dark garnet/purple color with aromas of black cherries, black raspberries, plum with hints of violets and earth. On the palate, ripe plums, black cherries, black raspberries, blackberries were met with a bit of spice and licorice that finished with hints of earth and brambly fruit. Nice finish with great acidity. HS92

This wine consisted of 60% Garnacha, 40% Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah and weighed in at 14.5% alcohol. The color on this wine reminded me of purple Skittles, maybe a tad bit darker, but purple nonetheless. On the nose, there was bright scents of black cherries, violets, and a hint of minerality. On the palate, this wine started with flavors of RIPE plums (imagine chomping into a plum) that filled out in the mid-palate with some brambly fruits and berries, and finished off with nice lingering notes of licorice and cherries. Good acidity and balance that carries the flavors through the finish. WOW! Drink now and don't stop! HS92

Nice structure. Some earth tones with mature red cherry. Glad that this is drinking nicely even though outside of my drinking window.
