This continues to drink very well, though it's reticent when opened at fridge temp. Becomes more aromatically expressive and fills out on the palate as it warms and gets some air.

Textbook Santa Cruz Mountains Chard. Citrus, minerals, crisp and on the more delicate side this vintage, steely fruit on the palate with hints of unripe pear, green apple, lemon, and the empty glass hints at a lovely toffee fragrance at the finish. Medium length, changed little over 4 days. If you like them delicate and crisp with some subtle nuance, this is it! Delicious.

Pop and pour. I was mildly shocked about how well this showed. On the nose: bright meyer lemon, lime, vanilla, soft almond, and citrus leaf. On the palate: lovely acidity, loads of limestone minerality, lemon, grapefruit, mineral oil, and lovely density on the finish. Wow. Stunning.

I thought this was drinking very well. Shy on the nose and brisk/crisp on the palate when first opened, but with some air and as it warmed up, it opened to show more nuance: better delineated fruit and some nuttiness on the nose, and more fleshed out fruit on the palate. Still bright and tangy, but with enough heft to balance that. Really nice, classic Chardonnay without any gussying up.

Drinking very good. Regretting I did not buy more. It's drinking very much like the French Burgundy counterpart from Cote de Beaune, Meursault or Chassagne-Montrachet which I think they're aiming for. Nose is very rich of ripe and freshly cut citrus fruit, lemon curd, pineapple, toffee, almonds. It's drinking like a medium body wine - going to full perhaps. Citrus fruit entry with saline, mineral, held by integrated wood with a grapefruit peel bite on a rich concentrated "Chablis" like finish. I'm surprised how much I like this compared to my last bottle. Everything is integrating but still drinks young to me. This is a very good 2nd label Rhys wine that I feel I could blind (read fool) some of my wine snob friends with.

Light gold. There is a pungent saline minerality to complement the lemon notes in the aromas here, not unlike some Chablis expressions. The palate is medium bodied with generous fruit, decent depth, and very focused, grippy acidity. While there's a touch of oak creaminess to the palate perhaps, it's subtle and not intrusive. This has more substance than some of the other Alesia bottlings, and while it's drinking quite well right now, it's still clearly young, and it has potential to develop with some additional cellar time. And it bodes very well for the '16 vineyard designates for the SC Mtns.

Medium light hay color, lightly toasted nose, really beautiful, elegant, pure Chardonnay fruit, medium intensity, with some nice lighter umami saline notes, touch of lemon curd citrus, fading slowly into a lovely mineral dominated finish. Fabulous balance, quintessential Chardonnay, very Burgundian in style, what a fantastic value.

It keeps a modest 12,3 procent alcohol, but it lacks nothing in terms of taste and balance. Lovely citrus-fruit here, creamy and delish, almost an old time Meursault - with great precision.

An alright wine. Right out of the white wine fridge it drank the best. This benefits from being very cold, more like an alright French counterpart. As it warmed it became more “fuzzy” - kind of didn’t know what I was drinking. Oak became more prominent with each degree but nothing else came along with the oak. Kind of boring and lifeless. Could have spent $20 less on white low end Burg/Chablis and been just as happy.... or happier since I really don’t like oak in my whites. Especially when the oak is not surrounded by anything else interesting.

Herbs, lemon, apples, and minerals on the nose. Good acidity and flavors of lemon and wet rocks on the palate. Rather short finish. A pleasant wine, but maybe a bit linear and boring.

Pretty good Santa Cruz Chardonnay. Medium bodied, balanced, lamony, a bit creamy. Substantially better compared to the uninspiring bottle I had year and a half back. I am just not sure that these are good value for money .. when I can get my Chardonnay fix of similar quality (obviously different personality) bottom feeding from Burgundy.

had alongside a Frank Family Chardonnay which really helped this show as more Chablis like. A bit citrusy with some grapefruit flavors though, which seem out of line for a chardonnay, but I still liked it and preferred to the more oaky, heavy malo style of the frank family.

Pop and pour and tasted with food (turkey burger on a flour tortilla, in case you were wondering). Light golden straw color. Nose offers lemon and stainless steel. Fresh and crisp, with a saline and mineral (stainless steel) note. Good acidity and citrus flavors, with that saline (sea spray) side coming through. Shows a slight bitterness on the finish, though.

My final bottle. 12.3% ABV, so it's easy on the 'ol body, too. We opened this yesterday, re-tasting what's left today. A core of lemon curd, grapefruit, lime and framed by toasted barrel notes, finishing with flint and medium weight. My final conclusion on the Alesia SCM Chard is that it's just a lighter, less intense version of the single vineyard components. I also think of all the bottles I have enjoyed, this one was the best yet, as the finish on this is excellent.

I'm a Rhys advocate and own 6 of these so definitely not looking for flaws. But this is just very average. It's a perfectly fine drink but something I would expect for $20, not $40. Pretty good, floral nose with some reduction that is reminiscent of a warmer vintage village Puligny or Meursault. But the palate is incredibly hollow, at least at this stage. Good mouthfeel and texture but not much else -- tastes very watered down with no intensity at all and some bitterness on the finish.
Based purely on this experience I imagine myself drinking the balance of my bottles very chilled on a super hot day or by the pool. But Rhys really should deliver a lot more than that, especially at this price point. I will be thrilled if I am completely off base but right now I'm not excited to own more of this.

Peach and caramel on the nose with some oak. On the palate there’s a slight creaminess with peach, pineapple, tropical fruit notes, and some oak. Minerality on the finish. What most disappointed us about the wine was the near absence of any acidity, resulting in a wine that was flat and lifeless. That's surprising in light of others' notes. Did we get a bad bottle?

Luis' "Bring a very good bottle" event: This is consistent with the Rhys style, elegant, understated, low oak treatment. I believe this will improve for the next 5 years. While this wine is not flashy, it is completely my style, and I'm glad I went deep on the 2014 Anderson Valley chardonnay.
Mixed Wines at Tilia (Tilia, Mpls): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. Cedar, lime, citrus, tart, medium plus body, oak. Definitely has some oak, but it integrates fairly well over 30 minutes. Good acidity and a fairly lean style make this appealing for me. 91+pts.
