Decanted 60 min, after which it was still a bit disjointed. Then left on counter (no N2). Next night it was much better, balanced, deep and long. Great fruit and great structure. Went down beautifully.
Then another day on counter with N2, after which it was about the same. So overall, it is still young, I'd say.

Excellent. Red fruited nose and the palate is full of crushed bright berry, savory herbs, garrigue, and black pepper on the finish. So vibrant and energetic. It's densely flavored but light and jumping on the tongue.

Opened initially to decant it before dinner. My first though on trying: How beautifully aromatic this is. Second thought: This isn't going to last long during dinner. Thought throughout dinner: Damn, I should buy larger quantities of D&R Mourvedre if I want them to last
Explosively aromatic. Blue and black fruit, dark raspberries, wild strawberries, mulberries and wild herbs and flowers, mainly burdock and peonies. One bottle left. Let's see how long I can keep my hand off it.

Frustrating day, so I wanted something reliably delicious. Dirty & Rowdy and Evangelho Vineyard both tick the boxes. The 2017 is fresh, lively and quite slurpable, with the typically sappy Evangelho fruit on display in a lighter form than in some years. That just makes it more delineated, and within a few minutes it fans out completely like a magician displaying a deck of cards. Fruit, earth, herb, spice - it's all there, and floating along an underlying structure that is all but invisible. Before I know it the glass is empty. The magician has turned another trick.

Lovely nose of red fruits, lots of raspberry, cherry and cranberry. As this opens up the palate becomes more complex with spice and licorice. The fruit is on the tart side and this wine is better with food than alone. Needed a long decant on day one as the tannins are still quite strong, smoothed out on day two and was drinking better although the trade off is some of that zippy freshness to the fruit.
rich purple red color, wild and pure nose of chocolate coated chalk and black fruits, cola notes, palate ripe and open fruit with chalk and cocoa notes, a very fun wine with firm and hard dark bramble notes on the tight structure keeping it all together, floral notes with time, still very primary but fun to drink now, some development potential though I do not expect significant transformations, not exactly traditional- but this works, it is balanced and unique.

Old vine Mourvèdre from one of the world’s great vineyards. 13.3% abv. Dark ruby, expressive aromatics. Raspberry and red cherry, accented with mint, spice and a floral element. Great balance and depth but lively and energetic. Should age well, but great now. Winner.

Actually the fruit is quite lively and fresh, but of course no RS. It opens with violet aromatics and a strong aroma of blackberry and raspberry. Ever so slightly Burgundian with spice notes, high natural acidity and low alcohol. I love the ripeness of the fruit, it just tasted like it was picked perfectly. I kind of quaffed it while grilling, so there are probably better ways to appreciate Mr. Wallace’s work here, but it’s a good bottle. Drink or hold.

13.3% abv. Dark cherry red with good aromatics. On the palate, cherry, rosemary, blue fruit and mint. Good depth, length and mouthfeel. An appealing sappy, grippy element. Hope I can keep my hands off my last bottle to see how this develops.

13.3% abv. This is a really pretty young Mataro with pure, grippy cherry, raspberry and rose petal on the palate. Excellent focus, intensity and length. Delicious now and will no doubt improve.

C: Dark ruby red. Very pretty N: Reticent P: This is young, but already interesting and very drinkable. Opens smooth and balanced, but a bit reserved. In 10 minutes it starts of pick up taste. By 20, it's come into its own. Notes of dark red fruits; elegant deep, and resonant. Not bright like many other D&R mourvèdres, more on the intense and brooding side. I look forward to watching this develop over the years. 11/22/18: For Thanksgiving. Decanted one hour the day before per Hardy’s suggestions. Consistent with the previous bottle. Liked it a lot, but one has the strong sense that it needs a few years before it will really strut its stuff. Be patient! 10/9/19: Decanted 3 1/2 hours. It needed it! Tightly coiled and reticent on opening, after the decant it resembled the first one above. Very drinkable, but still a youngster, it seems! 2/19/20: Decanted briefly before drinking. Just ready to go this time, it's grown up and left home. Had all the best qualities listed above. What a great wine! I'm upping the rating to three stars. Three days later, after being on the counter with a Repour, it's even better. Just so compelling, it wraps itself around your tongue and leads you to another, better place. Hardy, you've really done this vineyard justice. 11/28/20: Decanted seven hours, then put back in the bottle to serve. Depth, mystery, intrigue. Dark red fruit, a sense of smoke. Strong but elegant. Still on the young side. Big hit at dinner.
