Lots of air duly given, double decanting twice seemed to help. Plenty of fresh juicy fruit here, lots to like, just a touch of tannin to finish. I’m not sure if time helps these bottles or not, but they never last long enough to find out, but they do need air

From MAG @ Bad Moravian’s back yard. Same as before in 750, but now twice as large, Excellent and a joy to drink. Fresh red fruit and exotic fine grained peppercorn.

Similar to before in every way, but the three years since last bottle I think has meant it has lost a bit of its energy. Still good, but felt slightly on the thin side now.

These were so good. The last one we drank alongside Envinate's Taganan tinto and their Vidueno de Santiago, and we generally liked this one most (cheapest of the bunch). It had the most distinctive ash/smoky element, and a crunchiness of fruit that the others couldn't quite match. Crazy good value in light red wine.

Pale garnet, intense. Crunchy red fruit. Herbal with high acidity and low tannins. Touch of smoke. The fruit is lacking concentration leaving a gap in the mouthfeel, resulting in a lack of balance. Thin, Graphite like profile.

Light and bright colour. Needs a good airing to let the reduction blow off and reveal the herb tinged fruit underneath. It’s fresh and juicy with a crushed rock influence, a few lingering tannins and a decent length finish. Lovely wine but I must remember to give this plenty of air to start with next time round

Pale garnet, touch of Brett on the nose. Fresh/sour watered down profile with barnyardy notes.. Fruits seems to have almost disappeared. 12% 2 days later the wine has really improved and developed an herbal palate, with mineral expression and hidden fruit.

Very reduced with eggy, sulfur nose to start. Splash decanted which helped but it's still very slight and never showed much beyond simple cherry and woodsy twig notes. No improvement overnight.

Another great bottle. It is like a slightly reductive but very fresh mix of beaujolais and a Jura red. Strawberry and cherry mixed with sulphuric minerality (or maybe it is just the reductiveness) and black pepper. Takes well to a slight chill and is excellent for a warm evening.

Ready to drink on pnp. Coffee-like. True and delicious. A beautiful wine. Wild and floral. Surprising length; fresh with sweet tannins. Dont have dessert with this; it’s diminished by anything too sweet. Crazy value at $22. Drink over the next four or five years -2023.
Karen wanted a light red and was this ever it. It took half a bottle to appreciate it. Very understated in every way. Eventually, enjoyed (and believed) the 12% ABV. In balance, light, easy fruit, nice acid (and failing to remember the tannin level.) Interestingly it did have a touch of savoriness, much appreciated in such an otherwise easy straight forward wine.
Likely would not buy again unless looking for something unusual. Was glad we tried it, but at $20, perhaps over priced for what it is, especially for a 2nd bottle.

Winorama: A winter in Wineland III; 1/4/2019-1/13/2019 (Portland/Willamette, Eureka, Napa): Very much a wine of the earth. Pours a slightly lighter red color. Very fresh. There's a longer finish than I would have expected - it just goes on and on. Can almost taste the volcano but in a good way. Somehow it reminded me of the non sugar part of licorice (the red kind, not black).

Tasted double-blind, and enjoyed over three days. Cranberry juice cocktail color. Distinctly volcanic bouquet and taste profile, with strong ash notes, along with white pepper, cured meats, sous-bois, loess, and mineral ores. The wine features Burgundy-like texture, lovely balance, excellent acid, and powdery tannins. Guessed Etna.
Much lighter in color, body, and style than other examples of Listan Negro. Ridiculously interesting!

Some reductive sulfur on initial opening that blew off quickly. Bright red fruit, black pepper, allspice, blood orange. Fresh acidity, a bit thin on the midpalate if I were to nitpick. Drank with pasta and chicken liver ragu, the bright fruit and acidity made it a good palate refresher.

Grapey, Bazooka bubble gum (carbonic maceration?), modern, awful. Tastes poorly made, not flawed, but since another bottle showed up at the same tasting and it had none of these qualities--flawed.

Bob n Caitlin's wedding: Nose shows a lot of pepper, smoke, some brett. Juicy and red-berried with smoky, peppery, bretty, meaty, this is funky but lots of fun. From magnum.

Real ”volcanic juice” here with a red berried, quite soft structured and gluggable wine with some obvious rustic sulphuric notes. Interestingly it behaves the opposite to the 2016 in that it is instantly drinkable and friendly on pop and pour but on day 2 it feels a bit thin and acidic. The 2016 opened up that way but came together with air and even more so with a day more open. Maybe 2017 is a more horisontal vintage as Roberto Santana is prone to saying, compared to the vertical 2016

Love the lighter style of these wines but it lacks no complexity! The medley of cracked pepper and incense is intoxicating.

PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Pale purplish ruby to the eyes.
Peppery, earthy and reduction upfront.
Very saline. Tannins that is quite angular but nicely balanced.
93 points.
Second round (1 hour upon opening): saline white pepper spices notes.
