I've not previously much enjoyed Primitivo but this entry level offering went down easily having enough fresh acidity to liven up its medium+ body, red and dark fruit and discreet notes of toffee. I probably enjoyed this more than "prestige" offerings where the richer fruit and toffee notes might cloy. Quite good.

Colour: dark cherry red Nose: plum, blackcurrant jelly, liqueured black fruit. Sweet spice, maybe some bitter dark cocoa. Old oak. Palate: plum, blackcurrant jelly, ribena, liqueured black fruit. Blueberry. Sweet spice, bittter dark cocoa. Smooth berry-like acidity. Fine grained, drying tannins. Medium to full bodied, 13,5% alcohol.

Oog: Helder, intens, karmijn rood, matige doorzichtigheid en meniscus, grote viscositeit en veel licht gekleurde tranen. Neus: Zuiver en gematigd, Aroma van rood fruit (kers, rode bes) en ook pruim en vlierbes, rokerig, chocolade, vanille, zachte kruidigheid (witte peper, tijm, laurier), kruidnagel, karamel. Mond: zacht en aangenaam met evenwicht tussen zuren en molligheid (+1) en ronde tannines (+0,5) met vrij lange afdronk van 4 a 5 sec. Mooie wijn voor zachte prijs, net zoals jaargang 2016. Gerecht: Rood vlees, gevogelte, rijpe harde kazen, spaghetti en pasta's.
