  • 3rd bottle from a 6 pack. No formal TN, but a perennial favorite of mine.

  • Consumed over 2 evenings; first not giving much raspberries and violets. Note from second night. Now we are talking! Raspberries, orange, violets, strong mineral mid-palate with even black cherry and cardamom on the finish. Very clean, transparent with fine tannins on the finish. Speaking of which, the finish lingers for a good 45 seconds. Purchased two don't know when I'll dig into the second but I'll try to wait 5+ years. Really enjoyable on 2nd night.

  • 89 Como siempre, un vino muy agradable. Mantiene un bello color granate oscuro. Nariz limpia, sin notas desagradables ni vegetales. Hay fruta roja, cerezas picotas. Intensidad media.

  • All raspberry sorbet on the nose and palate. Not bad but different from the notes here, might have been the bottle. Very different from the bottle I had 3 years ago.

  • A very clean and silky wine right now, almost too polished, but in any case it’s a pleasure to drink for the purity of its fruit and smooth texture. Hard to imagine it improving, unless one prefers a wine like this on the mature side.

  • 2nd bottle from a 6 pack, last consumed about 2 yrs prior.
Dark cooked cherries, burnt embers, lifted by mint and cinnamon, with evident slate-like minerals.
Beautifully refined tannins, with ample acidity and a med+ length finish. Drink through 2032+.

  • Unmistakable tart cherry but along with some granite and earthy undertones. In a beautiful spot at present.

  • Really lovely. Lifted red fruit + spice. Medium bodied, pure w/ some red fruits and a fine mineral finish. Finely etched tannin, acidity keeps it fresh and reaching for another glass. Elegant and very drinkable Moulin a Vent here just coming into it's drinking window.

  • A very fresh and enjoyable summer cru. Different from the typical
Moulin a Vent profile and certainly not a Metras. In some ways this is to Moulin a Vent as Sunier is to Fleurie. Bright, taut cherry acid backing a purple fruit and dark cherry minerality, showing some of the elegance of Moulin a Vent in a showing that either suggests longer aging or, on the other hand, a need for near term fresh drinking

  • Decanted. Now 30 min after decant. Aromas of tart blackberries and red and black cherries, herbs, bark and a bit of earth.
    Vraiment EXTRA!

  • 1st of 6 bottles. Beautiful M-a-V from one of my favorite producers. Just entering it's drinking window, showing lovely and refreshing red and blue berry fruit, alongside mint, pepper, and rocky minerality. Drink now through 2035++ or so...lovely.

  • This was lovely; a refined Moulin a Vent; nose with ripe red fruits, floral notes, and minerality; the nose is very pure and high toned and quite reminiscent of a village Volnay from a ripe year really; the palate has structure, but it is barely noticeable with the ripe and delicious fruit. Very good and should age nicely for the mid-term.

  • 2 hrs open and an hour or so over dinner. So big dark fruit starting out very dark and young (purple notes), then over the course of dinner it seems to come out a bit of more red fruit. All in the context of very ripe and lush, easy tannins and unfortunately next to no acid structure. Easy to drink but not one that I would say "I've could drink all night". Gets kind of boring after a bit.

    SUPERBE!

  • Decanted and now 1h later. Aromas of red cherries and ripe blackberries, minerals, bubblegum and herbs. Palate reflects the aromas with a nice mineral streak and excellent acids to balance the fruit. Moderate tannins on midpalate give some grip. Good complexity. Definitely on a riper fruit forward side but w enough acids to balance the fruit. Always a delicious, enjoyable wine.

  • A somewhat more positive attitude towards this wine this time than last time, but it is not my style. Quite interesting on the nose with something herbal, sunny forest. Medium acidity. Ripe cherries, olives. Linear: fruit, then a bit watery, then olives an something a bit bitter, cherry stones? There is quite a bit of alcohol warmth, and that, together with the watery mouthfeel, makes it unbalanced in my opinion.

After 24 hours, the wine had more balance. It feels less watery and more concentrated, for some reason. The fruitiness appears more intense. It has an interesting cherry tarness to it that I didn't get yesterday.

  • Lots of fruit in this wine (raspberries and cranberries) with a nice acidity and a medium tannic base however there is also a fairly pronounced taste of banana that personally I try to avoid in gamay (I know I am looking for trouble but there are producers who do not have this taste in their wines). So not very impressed but if the banana taste does not bother you it is well done as a wine.

  • Fruit fruit fruit !

  • Tasty, medium body, strawberry/raspberry dominated fruit, a bit of warmth and sweetness from the vintage, pretty decent balance, with some fine, slightly grippy tannins. A nice, reasonably tasty quaff, but I was more impressed with the Coeur de Vendange, with its darker, more brooding profile.

  • Raspberry on the nose. On the palate, raspberry, cranberry, and notes of strawberry, orange peel, and light savory spice, with moderate tannins and moderate acidity on the medium finish. This should improve for several years. It was a good value at a little over $30.

    SUPERBE.

Amazing value for the price point.

  • Cru Beaujolais and friends (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Cedar, spice, slight sour cherry, wild ferment meatiness, controlled stalks, a little butter and cream, cherry fruit, structured, dense. Again a little too much work for the fruit. Perhaps Fuder would bet better than barriques? Hmm

  • Medium bodied, a bit darker than the norm, excellent if slightly reticent nose, very energetic and good, fresh, bright fruit flavors, good minerality. Should have much more to offer in the coming years as some of the non fruit components start to come into being.

  • Pure and linear, crunchy red fruits, mineral, great QPR

  • Medium ruby color. Lots of smoke on the nose, plus granite / slate. Medium body, medium acid, light tannins. Medium finish, medium minus complexity. Candied strawberry on the palette, some blackberry and cassis. More extracted fruit notes than fresh fruit. Hint of something vegetative (cut grass? Stems?). Much heavier than the Fleurie (see below). Written in conjunction with @Chateau de Farmer.

Drank with a Chateau De Poncie Fleurie “Le Pre Roi” 2016 for comparison, which was fun.

  • Aromas a mix of red and darker fruits; raspberry, cranberry, goji and dark cherries that are laced with scents of potpourri, rooibos, earth, volcanic mineral and lighter hints of sous bois, bramble and blood orange.
The palate shows nice density across the mid-palate and layered textures. Tannins are present and moderate/ moderate-plus while the acidity is a touch higher, Flavors reveal the red fruits of brambly raspberry, dark cherry, goji, cranberry along with orange oil, potpourri, tea, earth, rock and minerals. The finish lingers on.
Overall a strong showing from one of Beaujolais's best. Love the density and texture here. Should do well for another decade.

  • Nose of matches and forest in the fall. Medium acidity. High concentration. Warmth from the alcohol. Ripe red fruit, licorice. Rather neutral and too much alcohol warmth. Not what I expected at all. A bad bottle?

  • Opened up nicely over a couple-few days. Agree with others about the tartness, but it became rounder and much less so while re-corked (no vacuvin). Maybe hold the other five for a few years....

  • Poogan's Porch @ James Beard (James Beard House in NYC): A bit more muted. A bit basic. It was meant to pair with a gold rice and crab pirloo and I must say the food kindof overpowered the wine so this came across as a bit bland and tart.

  • This wine is incredibly classic this vintage. Aromas show cranberry, volcanic soil, tart minerals, and a thanksgiving day feast full of spices (I swear we haven't started cooking yet). Palate enters quite tight, showing some high toned red berries, potpourri, minerals, and moderate acidity. It's overall fairly tight and compact on the palate, but just incredibly wound up. It has intensity and depth, but it's hiding. The finish comes in with a little darker fruit, and a wash of minerals and acidity. Impressively structured and a wonderful ageable specimen. I don't think it will start showing its best for 10 years, but I expect it to unfurl with grace. Score for today. It will be much better in due time.
