Drinking well now and still has some runway. Well-structured, tannins are quite present but integrated. Dark and opaque; blackberry, tart dried Montmorency cherries. PNP, will add more notes after it’s opened up.

Quick decant. Nose of forest floor, oak, and fresh sorrel. Blackberry and brambleberry fruit followed by a sheen of velvety dry blueberry and a touch of graphite. Finish shows slightly rubbery tannins with a long blackberry pie flavor and a final iron note. Perhaps the tannins could develop further but I'm not seeing a reason not to drink in the next few years.

Marked this down as missing over a year ago, glad I found it. Potent, structured, mineral, great savory complexity and depth. I remember it being a wall of structure when I tasted at the pickup party, but I grabbed some because the O&F Teldeschi Zin had been quite impressive. This is more rugged and structured, less elegant than the O&F bottle, but very good and with a long life ahead.

Opened it and had a small glass and let it settle. Every glass and it became more powerful. Big and concentrated black fruit of wonderful dry creek fruit. Great structure.

Decanted for an hour before tasting, and it continued to improve over the following two hours. Intense flavors of fruit (a variety of black and red fruit, focus on blackberries), pepper and spices, and very firm tannins. Medium depth when first tasted, but more depth kicked in with more time and air.

Crimson in color. 14.6% ABV. Brooding nose of red and black fruits, leather, menthol and pepper. Full bodied with mouth watering acidity. Big and burly with dark fruits in spades. Black cherry, black raspberry, plums, earth and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish with gritty tannins. One of the top field blends from Dry Creek Valley and there is no question this will age well. Best over the next 5-7 years.

90 minute decant. Nose of blackberry, black fruits, sawdust, and pine wood. Blackberry, blueberry, schist, graphite, and light pepperiness. Smoky tannins, granite, black raspberry, dried thyme, and then an oak finale. Strong finish brings structure after the bold fruit.

Historic vines from the Dry Creek valley in Sonoma. Mostly Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Carignane. Smashed blueberry and red plums. Mouth coating PS tannins. This is quite rustic and wild at this point and will likely improve over a few more years in bottle. 4+ hour decant, still going strong after 24 hours. 20-year+ wine?

This is excellent but still quite closed. Decant for a long time if you drink it in the next couple of years. It is a gorgeous wine with lots of body, structure, fruit, tannins, and verve.

A bit more closed and showing heavy structure. Great stuffing though, blue and red fruits, quite fresh, but even following over 2 nights this was more about the future.

I recently had a 2016 vintage of this wine and loved it. This was just as good, great wine, especially for a 2017. This vintage has more zin (46%) and less Petite Syrah (34%) then the delicious 2016 vintage.

Love what the Petite Sirah brings to this wine. Rich, bold tannins, ripe stone fruit but not overripe. Spice and black pepper. Long finish. Probably gets better with 5 years.

Gorgeous bright raspberry fruit leaps from the glass. Notes of chocolate and spices. Very fine-grained tannins give this a solid grip, suggesting many years of life ahead. Medium body and finish. Delicious!

Sometimes 6 months is all it takes. The 2017 Lorenzo's has settled down and smoothed out since my last bottle in December. Tannins are supple and more dark fruit has come to the fore. No rush on this one.

This wine has a LOT of time left on it, so if you are planning on drinking it any time soon, be sure to decant it for a couple hours to let it breath and come into its own. We drank it over four nights and on the fourth night it truly was shining: A gorgeous blend by a highly skilled wine maker who is blending wines that will age gracefully.

Not as forward or ready as some vintages of Lorenzo's. More earthiness than fruit with some chunky tannins. Comes across as bit rustic. Needs more time to settle down.

Nose: On first pop, bit of reduction. After settling, spicy, peppery bramble notes mingle with just a faint bit of barnyard earth and white pepper. Reserved projection.
Mouth: Juicy black cherry and blackberry bramble move across the palate in broad strokes, fanning out and giving up layers of fruit and melted licorice notes before fading into a finish of spicy white pepper and hot stone. Light tannins can be found in the background providing structure, but never become overly insistent.
Overall: This has polish, and while juicy and fruit forward, isn't hugely candied in the way that some Bedrock wines have a tendency to be. Remains fun, in that American field blend way with some good layers to it. Still don't know that this has massive aging potential, probably drinkable through 2024 or so. Sooner rather than later is the idea here.
