Pours like deep yellow extra virgin olive oil, smells like teriyaki glazed grilled pineapple and lemon sesame pound cake, butterscotch crystals, and coconut shavings.
Thick vein of acid keeps this freshy fresh (not at all sloppy).
Great QPR, and something different.

Attractive nose with Appel, Apricot and Honeydew. On the palate, less impressive. Medium-bodied, high acidity, high alcohol and dry. The finish is thin. Did not live up to my expectations. Maybe bottle-variation?

Unctuous, waxy fruit feel in mouth. Golden in color and great fruit flavor, mostly Golden Delicious and Apricot. Well-balanced and delicious served with a ripe Port Salut and water crackers. Bought direct from the winery last summer for a steal of a price per bottle! Loved it!

Mrs Knurd was making shrimp scampi and wanted to see how this would hold up, as I enjoy an extra pinch of red pepper flake goodness with all that garlic, butter and vino bianco. Rewarded with a white wine that I am finding is key to making a meal complete. On its own it is a deep yellow color with a nose and palate of both cinnamon sprinkled baked apples and fresh cut yellow apples. Full and rich mouthfeel that carries hints of earthy green tea along with the traditional waxy Rousanne finish. Combined with the rich garlicky, buttery, and spicy sauce the wine amplifies the lemon juice acidity and adds a citrusy brightness to the meal that is otherwise not found individually in the dish or wine, without cutting the richness of the sauce or the fullness of the wine. The spicy fade of the dish brings out a green apple fade in the wine as well. Priced well at $20 but a steal considering how it performs with food. Overall evaluation A- (92).

Catalan Passport Wine Dinner (Catalan Tapas Bar (Cary NC)): 2nd Course: roasted yams with harissa, Aleppo honey, and fried peanuts. Let me start by saying that the yams were skinned, with both the "flesh" and skins roasted separately, then the nice soft yam was added back into a boat of crispy yam skins. Unbelievably great. Wasn't expecting much from the wine but what the chef did for roasted yams Stolpman did for a single varietal CA Roussanne. Thick and unctuous and I detected some MLF which gave it a nice smooth texture and a hint of unsalted butter on the palate. Savory and fruity, mostly green on both- green apples, almost ripe persimmon, with a cinnamon and waxy apple skin finish. Not quite baked apples, more like tasting them halfway through baking. Was amazed at the 1st course pairing; absolutely blown away by this pairing- A++ (99). Bought 3 bottles after the dinner for a steal at $20 just to have with sweet potatoes.

I miss L’Avion. This was ok and showed roussane structure but was quite one-dimensional by comparison. Orange peel dominates. I much preferred the 2018 Truchard Roussane.

I love Stolpman Vineyards, and have had this wine several times before. Something went wrong tonight! Strange aromas (and some flavors) of soap, grilled asparagus, and lanolin. Originally served at ~ 45 degrees, once you got past the nose you could find some creamy melon, lemon and other tropical fruits. Trust me - these were properly cleaned glasses. After one hour and the wine reached room temp ~ 73 degrees the aromas receded and the tropical fruits, nectarine and lemon rind really came out. Can't explain...

Aromas of lily, light petrol, grapefruit, underripe peach, morel, and artichoke. Palate confirms with some chamomile tea notes. Easy to drink, and dynamite with my vegetable risotto. Fun wine.

A dinner for two (Frenchie, Covent Garden, London): £12.50/glass. Immediately-apparent varietal characteristics, amped up in Californian style without going over the edge. Very much enjoyed. With venison loin, Jerusalem artichoke, roasted quince and trompette mushroom. Chosen to match the quince, which it did very well, and to bring out that not-quite-sweetness in some of the other components of the dish.

Medium gold. Captivating aromas of honeysuckle, clover honey, vanilla and orchard fruits. Oily on the palate, with flavors that mirror the nose. Rich and robust and stood up well to roasted root vegetables and a hearty clam and shellfish bake.

Aroma: creamy peach and nectarine aromas with a touch of minerals. Palate: nutty light bodied with elements of petrol and minerals. White peach flavors. Moderate acidity. Interesting and probably good with food.

Absolutely unctuous and delicious. Golden colored, apricots and tropical fruit on the nose. Rich and decadent but not overdone on the palate. Well balanced with a modest 12.8% alcohol. I've had the fabulous 2017 L'Avion and this is close in quality, although not as extracted as the Avion. Bravo Peter Stolpman & Co.!!

Nicely captures the character of Rousanne in a different style. Slightly stony, lots of nectarine with hints of candied citrus peel. Fresh on the finish, this is full and rounded, but also well balanced. Good with pork.

I like Stolpman's Roussanne, but this perhaps not the best bottle. Enjoyable as always but perhaps something missing.

Nice light fruit, lighter than the L’Avion bold golden I usually drink. 12% Chardonnay gives it a nice citrus character
