Nose of brambly blackberry, smoky campfire, and hints of hard candy. Powerful rush of complex black raspberry layers with tart cherry notes, fresh herbs, light pepper, and lively acidity. Chewy finish bring oak, fat tannins, black fruits, earthiness, and another round of acidity. Well put together. Old school but polished.

That’s a spicy Zinfandel! Brighter, and more linear in structure than a lot of the Bedrock Zins, this shows bright cherry fruit that is dusted with cayenne. Medium bodied and pure, I treasure the freshness of expression that lets the vineyard express its potential through the vision of a talented team. Drink it now because it’s really good.

“Dry-farmed, Planted 1910 St. George Rootstock Eastern Edge of Russian River Valley Tended by Jake Bilbro —MTP”
Opaque violet with burgundy coloration at edges. Nose red fruits with a mineral backbone. Palate ripe black cherries with a mineral edge. A cranberry note. A dusky note on the finish.
Would air it out next time, a good pairing with red meat. 91 pts

Ruby red edge / dark burgundy core. Cherry, strawberry, bay leaf. Chalky tannins, a rocky kind of country road aroma. Beautiful old vine (1910 block) California Zinfandel from the confluence of Russian river, Chalk Hill and Alexander Valley.

Dry dense fruit forward nose, bramble and some cassis, very full bodied wine, flavors of red and black cherry, mild to moderate acidity, mild tannins, borderline jammy but not a fruit bomb, hint of yeast on the finish, very good. After a couple hours this has really come together, quite primary in a good way, very brambly very nice Zinfandel.

This is pretty young and bound up, but lots of good stuff. Like most young bedrock zins, this has a very complex profile of primary fruit; boysenberry, pomegranate, pluot, melon rind even, with some good layers of coffee grounds and rhubarb showing with air. Great wine, probably best in '22, but plenty to enjoy now. I'll update with day 2.

Nose of red raspberry and aloe vera. Black raspberry and rhubarb fruit with heavy spice and zippy bright cherry. Tannins follow with a tight grip, adding firm oak, graphite, and lingering earth. Give it at least a year to unfold the finish. 92+ points.

What a difference a year makes. 89 pts a year but really coming along nicely. Fresh, lively acidity, almost fruit forward for a Bedrock wine with supple tannins on the finish. Along with the Carlisle this is at the top of zin designated wines. Never enough to go around.

Excellent wine, with juicy fruit, plump, plummy character and copious structure. Lots of upside here, as although the pieces are there, it seems a bit monolithic and "blocky". Needs time to loosen up.

2 of 4 during zin blind tasting - 2017 limerick horizontal - Carlisle, Bedrock, Limerick - plus Turley Paso Robles zin for contrast.
Mild nose with some cherry. More black pepper, and blackberry or currant. Nice flavors with a lingering finish.

Quite reliable zin from a remarkable vineyard. 2017 just seems a step or two behind prior vintages

Pop and pour. Super dark fruited and intense spice perfume. Better on day one.

Not quite as good as the 2016. Still a bit tightly wound. Good acidity and berry fruit with dry tannins. Better with air but needs more time.
