  • Tasted at the "Bam Bam" restaurant on Hayman Island; had it with their curried lobster and curried duck.
The curry dishes were not overly convincing; a bit contrived (how, for example, duck and curry can go together convincingly frankly escapes me)
Golden 14ct. color, completely dry, bordering the austere. Touch of kerosene which denotes a certain age.. Well balanced with medium finish. A different class from the 2023 Watervale Riesling tasted two days earlier from the sam producer. Where the wine was lacking was that the middle palate wa not well pronounced. • Pale for its age. Steely acidic nose but softer in the palate. This is going to develop in a petrol style of Riesling.

It’s good. But the later run of cooler vintages have produced more beautiful Clare Rieslings.

    12%, screwcap.

  • Wow! Not what I was expecting

    Greenish tinge to the wine
All petrol and stone fruit off the nose
Super aggressive acidity. Steely. Stone fruit and petrol with sour lychee fruit. Long finish. Bone dry. This wine is going to go the distance. Well 'built'. In ten plus years this wine will be epic. Really good stuff but one needs to be patient.

Smoked a Drew Estate Liga Privada 9
