Only my third wine from Fratelli Brovia and my second time with the Brea Vigna Ca' mia, previously the 2013 vintage. This is obviosly a very good barolo and maybe age will add 1-2 points to this wine, but the 2013 was better.

1 hr of aeration; drank over two nights. Just as I found it at the Tre Bicchieri event in Dusseldorf, just prior to release - open, giving, and with tannins that are much more inviting than they are stand off-ish. Not likely to become the most complex of wines, but on a scale of pure pleasure, it's pretty high up there. Quite juicy, with rounded, layered layers of bright red fruits. I think its best days are on the younger side, and won't consider holding beyond 2035 - even if it may last - if only because it's so good now. highly recommended
Consumed over the course of two days. More delicate and restrained than the Rocche di Castiglione. Still it’s just stunning stuff and up there with the best of the vintage (especially early drinkers). Strawberry, rose, bay leaf, mint and sour cherry. Needs time but more than drinkable after a long decant.

7 hours bottle decanting. Nose of rose, violet, bay leaf, sweet fruit and some vanilla. Palate full and balanced with 14.5% alcohol. Fine tannins and sour cherry flaors. Good structure and well done. Several rounds after, loads of rose petal, red cherry and some strawberry, very charming.

Forward nose shows black cherry, plum, rose, tar, and menthol. Good example of the better wines of this vintage, with powerful fruit but a cooler year's midweight structure. Ripe, soft tannins. Drink starting 2025.

Brovia's 2015 Barolos (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Medium ruby-the most saturated color of the group. Very much the opposite of the Villero, this is relatively forward and exuberant. Extremely ripe black cherry aromas. Medium weight and sappy. Less complexity than most of these wines, but some tar behind all the fruit. Round, ripe tannins and some heat on the finish, but the acidity is strong enough to keep things in check. Lots of material here but may be too broad and concentrated to ever develop great nuance. We'll see.

Very different from the Castiglione wines, probably my favorite of the line up. Mid weight like the rest, but a sweeter red fruited nose with floral hints. Cherry/berry palate with a real lightness without losing density, dark but not bitter finish. Very good balance, light tannins.

14% alcohol. Slightly tight on the aromas. Touch of rustic, yet wonderfully appealing with rich red currant fruit, clear soil, and tough masculine roses. Pretty full bodied wine with great mouthfeel. Really delicate red currant fruit. Slim style to be from and warmer vintage. Typical classic with tough soils and salts with firm, but softer expression on the tannins. Super wine.

During winery visit. This is the second time I am tasting this, the first time was right after bottling and while very good, there was a touch of warmth that was worrying me a little. This seems better integrated now, but the opulence of the vintage is coming through a little bit in most of the wines.
Typical Serralunga aromatics of dark and dark red cherries, dark plum, tobacco, tar, ash cedar wood, dark spices, licorice and some dried flowers too. It's full-bodied, dense and pretty powerful, with medium-high acidity providing balance and freshness and pretty high tannin that is recognizable but very good quality. Long finish. A powerful, structured and complex Ca' Mia with an extra level of fruit. (94+)

Cured meat, balsam, ricola, nettles, and heme on the nose. Its structured and meaty, but with roses and lovely Serralunga fruit on the palate. Rich and expansive but still lifted, finishing with firm tannins and balsamic notes.

2018 Visit to Brovia with Alex Sanchez (Castiglione Falletto): From tank. Deep ruby colour. Very red fruited bouquet: red cherries, red currants, spices and a little red liquorice. Mouth filling. A palate staining, large volume of crunchy red berry fruit. “This is the most powerful of the Cru. You feel the power here. The 2015 is fresher and bigger than the 2011”. On the evidence of this small pour, this seemed a very promising Serralunga Barolo indeed.

Opened in the bottle all day. In more of a shut down mode compared to last year. Red fruited with a light to medium body. Needs time to fatten up.
