Very, very spicy and a degree of tannin over its fruit level. Good, but definitely in need of food and you certainly need to be ready for the extra degree of herb and spice above even what most Cristom wines provide. I would consider drinking this in the shorter term.

Very pleasant wine. Nice cinnamon and light cloves on the nose when opened. Some forest floor and somewhat restrained red fruit. An elegant, not hugely expressive pinot, but very typical of the Oregon style.

Medium light, ruby. Black fruit, light cola nose. Medium bodied, astringent black fruit. Good balance, long flavor. Nice, some what light fruit, mature balanced pinot.

Drank from half bottle. Light raspberry red, turning translucent at the edge, this light bodied wine exhibited a fantastic nose of red fruit and flowers. On the palate the wine exhibited the typical Oregon earthiness intertwined with spice, blackcherry and strawberry notes. Juicy acidity but an the oak was prominent on the finish.
I kept wishing I could rate this higher, but alas, it is not to be.

very closed nose or my nose is stuffy. Take your pick. I'm going for closed bouquet. Light in color. Nice earthy, raspberry flavors with hints of menthol and camphor. Menthol and camphor for my stuffy nose. Good acidity suggest this would be better with food. It's pretty good but nothing spectacular.

fantastic. Slightly on the fiery side but exciting spices on the nose and after some air time we found some nuance in terms of classic leaf&mushroom tones. A very nice wine and a favourite oregon pinot

Fabulous - had half a bottle at Bistro Maison in McMinnville with a bouillabaisse and some morel, shiitake, oyster mushroom apetizer. Dark red, well balanced, balckberries and a very long aftertaste.

Quite a change from past Oregon pinots I have tasted (which is not many). I have to say I really enjoyed this. It took about an hour for the fruit to truly show expression, though the dominant aroma for me was a bouquet of white flowers. Quite lovely. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of earth and butt. However, at the 2 hour mark it became mildly astringent and tannic, then regained its fruit profile. Nonetheless, the lesson I learned tonight was that preconceptions can really hinder an honest evaluation of a wine. It had been a while since I tried an Oregon pinot - but I now know that expecting Burg or Cali pinot can be a real hindrance to appreciating Oregon pinots. Great pairing with chicken and green beans.
My opinion of Oregon pinot is changing for the better...good thing, since I'll be moving to Central Oregon soon!!

Had this wine with grilled salmon, rice and a salad. Opened and drank w/o decanting. the initial boquet was quite floral and fruity with none or the barnyard often associated with pinot. The flavors were black fruit with a fairly tannic finnish. The wine was well balanced and will likely improve with a few years in the cellar. The wine also improved with some air time. I really do need to get in the decanting habit.

7/4/2015 - jshearer Does not like this wine:
This is over the hill. No freshness. Showing as big with some heat.

Not much of a nose. Spice, plum and earth on the palate. Excellent balance, concentration and acidity. Very enjoyable, though not especially long.
