Beautiful nose of crushed black berries, dark cherries with cranberries and loamy iron soil. The palate of black fruit and berries. Firm tannins with balanced acidity evolves with a long iodine iron nuanced finish. Very traditional brunello that goes with tomatoe sauce spaghetti.

Cherry and red fruit nose, yet another one of our 4 wines with great aromatics. Tannins and mouthfeel silky, medium++ acidity which provides such a lift to this wine and paired perfectly with the top quality beef.
Full-bodied, long finish. Legendary and textbook 2016 vintage, one if finesse and harmony with ideal September weather promoting perfect acidity in the grapes!
Alwin had blurted out that this was a Brunello so no guessing required there.. I did think it was a very good vintage (and since the tannins were reasonably resolved and so fine) hence I.. thought 2013.
It was in fact the epic 2016 vintage. Hann asked me to guess the maker, I knew it wasn't a Casanova Neri or a Il Poggione.. but was clueless who it was. Have only had a 2017 to date.. and this far surpassed that experience. Wonderful!
Thanks to brother Hann Sze for sharing this at Gyudon Yakiniku where we were spoiled for 3 hours with cut after cut of A5 wagyu!

Dark brown hue, soft nose. One of the darkest colours I have seen in Brunellos. Subtle first Brunello burst, but with dark red fruits clear - cherries, blackberries, currants. Finish is quick and dry with long linger. Nice earthy notes - ash, tabacco, licorice. Drinking well and good value.

Clear dark garnet colour in the glass consistent with some age on this sangiovese wine from 2016. Some signs of age on the nose with more earthy and spice savory characteristics dominating cherries and plums. The palate is smooth with acidity and tannins mellowing out but retaining a certain degree of complexity. Recommend drinking within an hour of opening to retain more fruit and freshness. Perhaps bottle variation in my case?

14% ABV. Medium ruby appearance, slight hints of garnet. Nose - black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, violets, tar, tobacco, and dark chocolate. Palate - same as nose, tannins well integrated, and medium acidity/body/finish.
Decanted for 30 min and felt that was more than enough.

Unriped black fruits, raspberry, tobacco, crushed petals, and leather. Medium bodied, medium acidity, medium-high tannin and long finish. Well balanced and enjoyable.

A slightly brickish red. Rich and full bodied on the palate, showing black cherries, strawberries, violets, bitter dark chocolate, oak and vanilla and bits of tar on the finish. The acidity is really well dialed in here; the delivery has a certain elegance and power behind it that’s really quite enticing. The tannins still have plenty of heft to them—you could no doubt let this rest for another ten years or more—but it’s drinking well even now.

Even though I drink all this big boy stuff … I do like certain every day wines. This is my pasta night go-to. It’s just so darn good. Chewy tanin and this amazing cherry flavor. I get a hint of robitusin which I don’t love but otherwise this always shows up and never disappoints

At the Tuscan restaurant aboard the Celebrity Summit. Most of the wines were 2018 and this was one of the older bottles that they had. They did double decant it and we did let it sit but it is too young. When it did come together it was a palate of dark cherry, tobacco and hints of sage which led to a moderately long finish. Time in the cellar should improve the score.

Lot 10 Cucina. First Tuscany Sangiovese so I don’t have a reference point. Savoury characters on the nose. Very smooth palate. Slightly grippy tannins.

Medium ruby/garnet colour. Cherry, red apple, walnut husk, and sweet/savoury spice aromas. Flavourful, elegant, creamy and well-balanced. Smart tannins and a bit of warmth on the focused finish. 4/5

Dominant riped cherry, good amount of pleasant acidity, and polished tanin.
Almost everything you can expect from a well made BDM.
Lacks complexity; but easily ccessible and enjoyable BDM.
Recommended.

I second Shangguy’s last note on this - an excellent Brunello if you like something on the more fruit forward end of the spectrum.

I've heard great things about 2016 brunello - but i'm not so sure about this one.... maybe just way too young to assess properly
