Super concentrated. Thyme, lavender, mint and licorice in the nose as traveling through the Provence. Hefty herb and liquor notes as well. On the palate full bodied, unctuous and well-delineated. Tannins are perfectly integrated, well made! At start of drinking curve.

Much richer than the 2002 Kay Brothers Hillside it was paired with. A very deep wine with rich berry fruits, plums, blackberries, black raspberries and currants. Full bodied, nice complexity and a very long finish. Impressive.

Opened and left alone for about 30 minutes, but not decanted. Interesting nose, initially something like fish oil, but this settles down to raspberry reduction, red and black currants with a bitter edge, brown sugar, cinnamon, black stone/slate mineral, and distant vanilla. Palate has more raspberry reduction, sour berry fruit pulp, and ripe but not too sweet fruit. Extracted and masculine, giving off youthful notions of primary red and black berry, especially raspberry. Tannins are present but overwhelmed by the strong fruit extract. At 10 years this is still quite young. Later, decanting did little to coax more expression from this youthful wine. Very, very good now, but honestly it needs about 7-10 more years in the cellar.

Full bodied and dark ripe fruit. No decant but drinking beautifully from start to finish. Never tasted pepper on the finish as vividly as with this wine.

Oh my God...this Shiraz is amazing! Huge nose of blackberry, blueberry and black pepper. Coating my glass, mouth, teeth, and existence. A huge wine on the palate, just exploding with black pepper, blueberry and black fruits, with just a hint of menthol in there as well. I'm in awe of the power in this wine. Simply incredible.
I have to add, the friend I shared this with talks about this wine every time I see him. He wants to find more! A memorable experience, for certain.

Dark, inky. Meaty, raspberry, blackberry and very menthol nose. Very full on the palate, chewy, attacks with spice, pepper and briary berry fruit. Feels like there's masses of wound up potential waiting to be released here. Long finish, balanced.

Belated Birthday Extravaganza (an Restaurant (Cary, NC)): Decanted (not sure of length). This wine exhibited a dark purple color. On the nose, aromas of sweet black cherries and blackberries were joined by notes of tar, vanilla and pepper. On the palate, flavors of blackberries, cherries, and blueberries were complemented by notes of graphite and freshly ground espresso leading to a spicy finish. Another amazing Kilikanoon production. Very, very nice. Fantastic nose, but not overkill. Black fruit and just enough oak. Tannins are silky and balanced here.
