Solid CDP. Full bodied, tannins well integrated, quite complex with lots of herbs, dark berry, licorice, spice, pencil shavings. A touch high on the alcohol, but it's not too intruding. Drink now.

I continue to be underwhelmed by this wine. Not much flavor and just flat. I will defer to the reviewer who advises to wait five to ten years for the wine to come together. Since I am not enjoying the wine now, might as well ignore it for a while and see what happens. It also appears that the drinking window is way off as more than 50% of bottles registered with CT are still in cellars. Push the drinking window to 2025-2030?

This is simply the best CdP I have consumed. It has been 10+ years since I opened a bottle and it still sings as it did on 5/13/1!. Glad to have one more for a special occasion.

I had expected more maturity, but this is still but a padawan. It has a disturbing fruit focus and a lovely youthful tannic kick. I love the slight "unfriendly" character that is so welcome amongst all the overwhelming Grenache: "You're my huggly best friend *hic* ever".
Beautifully becoming.
Give it at least 5-10 years to get its act together, and it's going to be a treat!

Better than my last bottle but still a bit flat. Seems past peak. Fruit is OK but no vibrancy. Still three bottles left which I plan to consume over the next year.

-- decanted 1.5 hours before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over 2 to 3 hours --
NOSE: very "dark"; a bit fumey; hints of old wood furniture and celery seed; deep, earthy plum; crushed rocks; hint of molasses; medium+ expressiveness.
BODY: dark garnet color of great depth with slight bricking throughout; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: still some tannins hanging on; medium-low to medium acidity; "dark"; bitter; date fruit; a touch earthy; little bit of black cherry; lighter on the palate that I was expecting, but I still think this improves with more age --- maybe another 10 years? My only hesitations with more aging is the slight alc. hit on the Nose and the overall "dark" and "bitter" presentation, making me wonder if this was over-extracted, in which case I don't see age helping it a whole bunch. That said, the notes of old wood furniture and celery seed on the Nose do portend good things with more aging, as I don't see the wine turning in a "stewed" direction.

Just OK. Very faded fruit. Possibly corked but not obvious from either the smell or taste other than the lack of flavor. Hopefully just bottle variation given the very high scores this wine is getting. Will try another bottle soon.

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs, bottle from secondary market -nearly opaque dark red some purple no bricking -heady ripe red-black fruit berry kirsch -med/med- acidity, med+/big bodied loaded mid-palate with fruit cake fig kirsch berry, while the alcohol is not prominent as heat it rears up with a vengeance as a bitter bite on the long finish along with med- tannins -this is utterly massive for a CdP and still may be on the upside as there aren't many overt mature elements though I do worry that as the fruit fades the alcohol may throw it out of balance, thus would drink over the next 5-8 years

Mag Dinner Pampas Steakhouse: From magnum; very CDP, raspberry, garrigue, medicinal almost screechy finish, not sure why this wasn't more harmonious at this stage in its development and format.

Drinking very well. Decanted for 2 hours. Structured rather than exuberant. Well-rounded with nice balance between reserved dark fruit and earth/gravel. A touch of smoked meats on the finish with tannins still hanging around. Enjoyed w roasted tofu mushrooms and red peppers.

Semi-translucent dark crimson core with lighter crimson rim; more modern seeming on the initial nose, nutty, acorn, strong sweaty sock, darker red fruit; thicker, richer, some sweetness, ripe, roasted fruit, raspberry, fig, bitter finish; delicious, but this bottle fell apart after being open for a couple hours, previous bottles from this vintage have been very structured and almost closed unlike this one.

Disappointed. Possibly mildly corked? I am not sensitive to cork taint but this did not seem right. Light and acidic. Very little fruit. Consumed over three hours. Too bad as I have enjoyed bottles from Ferrand in the past.

Very focused. A mouthfull. Black stone. Large purple fruit. Concentrated palate of fruit pleasure. Drinks well now but could get more complex with some age.

One of the best CdPs I have consumed. Nice dark fruit and some earthy funk upon P&P. After 30-60 minutes the nose was bright dark fruit, w/leather,cedar,forest floor in the background. Very smooth on the palate with a long finish, with a hint of pepper. Hard to believe that it is 14.5% ABV. It may stand some more age, but it is drinking perfectly now.

Decanted two hours. Brooding dark nose, with spicy licorice. On the palate, instant structure bomb - this is clearly nowhere near its peak. It drinks almost more like a Barolo. The acidity is downright delicious, and the finish is concentrated and very long. It's closed down in the sense that there are a million exciting things bouncing around in a tiny little room. The fruit is ripe, but not at all rich or sweet. There's a lot of old-world elegance going on here. A big note of spicy black pepper. A tiny bit of oak bitterness on the finish, but it's drowned out by everything else. I've had a string of goopy California Cabs, so this is just the shot in the arm I needed to wake me back up. $55 on sale for $31, and worth every penny.
Third night: decanted the last half of the bottle four hours, and it's quite a bit more accessible now. Still beautifully structured, but the fruit's jumping out of the glass more and everything's just more harmonious. Bumping up a point.

Nearly opaque purple color. Bright aromas of blackberry and and earth on opening. Flavors of blackberry, cassis, licorice, garrigue, some iodine and chalky taninnis. This was a very nice bottle of wine. The finish was lacking, but overall this was very enjoyable.

Lunch at The Square, London, W1 (The Square, 6-10 Bruton Street, London, W1): Drank over a great leisurely lunch catching up with Simon and Michel, where the food and the conversation diverted me from making detailed notes on the wines. Quite deep blood-red for a Rhone wine. A nice earthy and dark red cherry nose which took a while to unfurl. Similar palate with still a lot of tannin. Rather closed on the back end. Needs several more years to show its true colours.

Lots of earth here, which I very much like. Fruit was present but rather muted. It improved with an hour or so in the glass, and I would recommend a significant decant. I plan on waiting a while before opening the next bottle.

Purple violet brightening out to the rim. Deep bouquet showing garrigue, chocolate and spicy dark plum fruit and herbs. On the second and third day notes of licorice emerged. Smooth entry, bursting mid palate with some spicy raspberry and liquid mineral streaks. Nice long finish. Great right after pulling the cork but ended up shutting down after a ½ hour or so. Refrigerated the remainder air-tight and drank over two days – it was best on Day 3. So early but so impressive.

This is not a far off from some top notch CDP's I have had. Beautiful dark ruby color, Focused around Plums, Raspberry, Mineral, Graphite, licorice and spices. This wine has elegance and complexity and needs some more bottle age. (Best from 2010-2019) – JD93

Jungle Jim's Southern Rhone Tasting (Jungle Jim's, Fairfield, OH): 80% Grenache, 10 Mourvedre, 5 Syrah, 5 Cinsault. Dark red color, but not dark enough to be completely opaque. Big blueberry, dark cherry, cranberry nose with a touch of herbs thrown in. Big dark fruit juice up front, nice transition leads to smooth tannins that build throughout finish, which continues to show some of the good fruit prevalent throughout the wine.
