  • PnP. Strawberry, raspberry, red cherry, loam, some spice. More developed than my last note from 12/2020. This still has tremendous balance. It has that Momtazi richness and robustness, but it also has the elegance of the house style. It has an elegant charm, but once you get passed that, you notice it has pretty firm structure underneath. Well integrated tannins, and medium+ acidity. Don't let its forward charm fool you - I think this has the stuffing to age well for 15-20 years from the vintage and perhaps longer. I think this is just starting to show its real potential.

  • This was delicious. Less structured and a bit more plush than many of the Kelly Fox offerings. Shows a strong strawberry and raspberry profile on the nose. Palate on the softer side but nice depth. Really easy to drink and enjoy. Lovely.

  • My final of three bottles. Very elegant wine that after six years is just hitting its stride. Red fruited with strawberries and red raspberry. Fine tannins - super smooth. Not overly complex but a real beauty.

  • In a week full of burgundy this showed really well. Delightful aromatics with some loam and black cherry notes. Fruit notes were somewhat muted on the palate with toast, spice, and loam notes really carrying. Fruit leans darker than I recall previously but still in the red spectrum. Moderate concetration. Mid weight with nicely balanced acidity and ripeness.

  • Decanted 6hrs. A tad darker profile than is the norm at KF, but all the elegance, balance and just a damn gorgeous Pinot. Under the dark raspberry fruit lurks a sizeable amount of structure and verve. But it seems to be all in balance (as always) so no harm in drinking my 2nd to last bottle earlier that anticipated, so we’ll let the last one sit for a good bit.

  • Tasted over two days.

Pretty, elegant, and light...even a touch thin, all of which seem to be hallmarks of the vintage. Judicious oak treatment, supple and lingering finish. Not an extended ager, but three to five years should bring out its best. 92-93.

  • KF wines are always amazing to me. So complex, soft, with notes of tea, roses, blood orange. So interesting and mouth watering. Just excellent.

  • Clearly young, but wanted to try it. Lots of strawberry and red cherry, some pie spice and cinnamon. Fine tannins, medium acid. Has tremendous depth and intensity, but still maintains the house style of nuance, subtlety, and elegance. Followed over two days and it really didn't open until the second day. Wines from Momtazi normally have a lot of power and structure, and this wine is no different, but when married with the Kelley's style, it sort of walks a knife edge of power and understated elegance. Score is conservative and reflects where this is now, but this will almost certainly improve for at least 10-15 years.

  • Followed over 2 nights. Light and crisp, but impressive depth. Starberry and spice flavors, bit of underbrush on the palate. Quite Fresh and crunchy on the palate. Accessible but could use some time

  • Same bottle as Rocknroller. I liked this a good bit more than he did, but can't disagree that it's far too young. It didn't help that I thought I was grabbing a 2016, but realized after opening that it had been incorrectly entered in CT. Didn't take notes, but I recall dark red fruit and dusty stone notes.

  • Safely Summer Sort of Picnicking (Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): Medium plus garnet red color. I'm sorry, but I'm missing the excitement over these wines. I guess, I only get them too young. I will say that I like the weight, medium bodied, the fruit is there and it comes across vivid and largely red fruited, but damn this is green right now. Throw this in the back of the cellar and forget about it for at least 3 years. Score reserved, 87ish now.

  • More bramble an spice driven than the other offerings. Spice, some cola notes, riper fruit. It's more structured, or at least overly forward, darker, firmer and less nuance. This is well done, but I do not love this expression of pinot. If you like CentralCali pinot, this would be good experience.

  • This was another excellent bottle. The nose presents an ethereal cherry perfume with hints of red apple and cinnamon which carry forward to a soft palate of velvety tannins and perfect acidity. An amazing combination of elegance and depth.

  • Lovely wine. Nice really jumps from the glass. Strong strawberry and raspberry notes on the palate. Quite fine and fresh. Lengthy finish. Delicious.

  • Essentially a pop and pour. Very enjoyable bottle of wine. Nice nose of pure fruit accented by some earthy and spice tones. The palate continues this theme and even adds a little acidity to keep your taste buds coming back for more. Kelley Fox wines continue to impress me and I can't wait to follow this bottling over the next 5-7 years. 93pts.

  • Delayed TN - So a little hazy, but this was flat out good. At 12.5 % this carried a surprisingly forward, even generous core of pinot fruit, it more a red apple feel, but a lovely spice overlay and impeccably crafty and precision. Surely to age well, but I just couldn’t resist giving this a go.

  • The 2017 has a similar black cherry and cinnamon profile as the 2016, but is somewhat lighter in body reflecting the vintage. Nicely aromatic. Gains a bit of weight in the glass.
