Keller & Haart tasting (Concept Riesling, Düsseldorf, Germany): Lots of citrus fruit of course. The most elegant and refined wine in the lineup today, great purity, minerality and tension. Upon revisting an hour or two later it had developed a rather harsh saline taste that was akin to eating a spoonful of salt with a little Abts E dripped on it, probably just needs some time.

Opened at Batard in HK. P&P and enjoyed over lunch.
This was absolutely electric - akin to a tightly wound spring with incredible tension and energy. There was ample fruit: green apple, grapefruit, floral notes, backed by the distinctive Riesling petrol.
This just needs a bit more time to fully resolve itself. I'd revisit in 3+ years and cannot wait to see how this turns out. Definite upside, and Keller just seems to be getting better and better.

Birthday Dinner with Wine Legends (Oriole): Decanted briefly before serving. Lemon start with lemon curd, lime peel, mint, apple, and peach. So much density and richness, seemingly slightly backward, but with a precocious richness. Great now with further upside.

Restaurant purchase. Decanted for ~90min prior to consuming. Very expressive from the get-go, but with even more air, and as it warmed it, it began firing on all cylinders, with the fruit profile on full display. Asian pear, casaba melon, ylang ylang, lime zest, freshly opened can of tennis balls. Incredibly precise, with individuals note ringing clearly. Hard not to like this wine. Even my sister who tends to struggle picking out wine flavours and aromas say things, was picking out the individual components with ease.

Decanted at about 9am, served with lunch and the leftovers with dinner. A beautiful citrus oil intensity, very deep punch of shells, apricot and ripe lemon juice. Very firm acidity today but suits the intensity of the wine. This is a baby but very very good with appropriate air.

On pop and pour not much going on, reductive and primary. So put into a karaf for 1,5 hours or so. Even then, the wine did not really come out of his shell. Some citrus (grapefruit) and herbs. A salty mineral aftertaste. I put a 2018 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère in the same flight which was far more enjoyable...If you own this, wait!

Beautiful intensity on the aromas with rich and wonderful fruit feeling of foaming citrus, grapefruit and this clear mark of wet stone. Lovely full-bodied Riesling that fires on all cylinders in the warmer 2018 vintage with the rich and delicious forward-facing fruit that takes hold and charms with juicy citrus, grape, light petroleum tones and coarse salt, against stone expressions on a long and complex finish. The acid freshens up and is relatively razor sharp for the vintage. Brilliant wine. 95 points.

Saturday riesling and farewell (Chicago, IL): A little reduced on the nose initially, but then this hits like a ton of bricks. Ripe, large-scaled, and incredibly opulent with an abundance of ripe tropical fruit that is incredibly expansive on the palate. The structure of this wine is hidden by the generous fruit (and that comparison is all the more stark having this next to the 2017) but both the mineral cut and the veins of acidity are there if you look for them. For my palate, I feel that this is the better of the pair given the added richness from the fruit and has more long term potential as well for that reason.

Wow, right from the start there was no doubt on the greatness of this wine. Searing acidity, a touch CO2, bright citrus fruit, pink grapefruit, very mineralic and salty. Lots of grapey fruit, at the same time staying airy but not thin on the palate. Like a Coche-Dury but with an Riesling aroma profile. Just amazing, for the purist. Zingy lime finish. A wow GG Riesling. Very young still of course but what a treat already. 96-98

Crazy fine acid, pure lime, lemon zest, everything is just composed in palace. The finish is superb, long and deep and never fading. Weighty but light, ongoing like it is eternal. 94+

Felix and KPs favourite GG in 2018. A wine of pure balance, finesse and precision. Sea salt and citrus all over the place. Although the wine is incredible fine, there are many layers which you can feel but they will only open up with time. Give it 5, better 10 years.

We had it before the 2019 (blind). Due to the vintage it is less precise and focused. Still herbal and with a lot of power. 93.

Blind. Most intense, but acidity is overwhelming. Lacking complexity at the moment.
