On a Lufthansa BC flight from Singapore to Frankfurt. Dark ruby colour. Intense cassis, cherry, blackberry, light bell pepper, spices, black pepper, some cedar, and some chocolate, with good acidity, ripe, well integrated tannin, and god length. Quite balanced, only the alcohol is lightly warming. Drinks well. A safe bet, as always.

I previously thought this was not too jammy but this time I think it is a bit of a fruit bomb. But it is deeply flavored with its black and red fruit, chocolate, a soft minerality, mild tannins, and moderate acidity. Would go well with dark chocolate.

Rich and full bodied, approachable now. Black cherry and cassis with some wet stone. Fruit forward but not jammy. Soft tannins, medium acidity. Good value weekday drinker.

Blind Tasting - Bordeaux red varieties, single or blend, mid price range MZ$60-100 (Forrest Hill, Auckland): ripe dark fruits, jammy, medium grained tannins, but surprisingly the m+ body can't wrap the tannins very well, tasted a little sharply bitter. all elements are not bad individually but putting together they are not in harmony, don't think it will get better by more years. as a table wine, essentially good quality to the price.
voted to the lest favoured by both me and group as it tastes obviously an entry level new world CS, its balance and complexity are not at the same level as other wines tonight. WE 89, TA 92
Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 15/20, Overall 3+3/10 Total 88/100

Great value at $18 for a weekday red. Quite well balanced, black cherry, cassis fruit but not a fruit bomb. Soft dusty tannins and medium acidity structure. A bit of tobacco and tea add a little complexity.

Pop and pour. On the first day cherry, cassis. Classic green CS notes. Tannins not prominent. After storing in the fridge for 2-3 days the greenish notes were gone, so this might improve a bit with more time in the bottle. Still good to drink now. Nothing exciting about the wine, a bit boring. Very Good (88).

A really exciting wine with rich aroma: tobacco, leather, ripe black fruits, fig, dark chocolate and vanilla. Palate is harmonic with nice tannins and acids and a long pleasant stay. Highly recommended!

Strong flavours of cherry and berries. Bold but soft on the palate. Nice deep cherry colour and a strong finish. Great for pairing with dinner (any, who cares, wine was delicious).

DAy I this was a oaky fruit bomb, but had some characteristics in it i liked, and knowing it would blow off. Day II. Oak attack is gone, mellowed into a rich SA Cab, w some deliciousness too its kinda poofiness. The whole erstwhile oak attak is balanced, gives way to a wave of ripe delicious jammy cab fruit, then some tannins, acids, then a wave of fruit. The tannins are really there, grippy in day II. Amazing. The fruit wont let go of the palate. Great QPR and some life ahead. This gets way better in 2 years.

Clear deep ruby with colourful legs; clean medium nose of jammy cassis, jammy blueberries, red licorice, black licorice, black pepper and damp soil; dry; medium plus acidity; medium plus tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; pfn with pronounced black licorice and some coffee; medium plus finish; very good quality; nose is a little confected and palate is a little concocted, but still drinks well

This started off a little odd, but within about 20 minutes things got back to normal, lots of dark fruit and menthol.

Tons of fruit, mainly black currant, cassis and plum. Balanced acidity with leveled tannins. Spicy finish. Has years to go. Great QPR

A little rustic. Heavy on violet and licorice. Wouldn’t get again at any price.

Odd aroma like burnt wood. Taste is sweet like raisins and the tannins seem disconnected. Doesn’t seem like an off bottle, just maybe not my thing.
