  • Friday Night Brown Bagger (R&D’s): Double blind. Lighter color with aromas of red plum and florals with herbal overtones. On the light side of medium-bodied, with flavors of red berry fruit and dried herbs. (J&J)

  • Double decanted two hours before service. Medium red color. The tannins are tight and got tighter with more air. The body of the wine came off as somewhat light weight. I never got a lot of fruit out of it. Does the wine need more time, or is it not going to get better? Hmmm.....

  • Very similar to my last bottle.. although a bit more "polished"...(but using the word cautiously). The wood seems to have mellowed things out a bit, drinking more uniform and less complex than my last bottle. An old school profile tamed by some fairly pronounced wood...although it is stealing the show just a little. 😉

The result is simple, yet somewhat distinguished - displaying background notes of autumn leaf , dark cherry, and a touch of "barn". Warm, dry, dark...uniform with teasers of "restrained" leather, "walnut" and barn. A kiss of cranberry keeping it fresh! A pleasure to consume and would pair with just about anything. A truly delicious taste of old world earth, and old school production...get it while it lasts!!!

  • I was not impressed by this wine. I decanted my Silvio Nardi two hours prior to dinner and served it with Sirloin Steaks, Garlic Mashed Potato's and Spinach. The color was a bit purplish, and the nose was weak. I did not sense that the wine was evolving, and it had no depth at all. I'm not certain that this wine will improve with age and I do not plan to add it to my cellar.

  • Excellent wine.
Purchased for $58 from Half Moon Bay Wine & Cheese, which is a great place to stop after a perfectly cooling day at the beach to escape the Bay Area heat and smoke.
Paired with BBQ from 3 Pigs from across the street. Ate sidewalk dining style in front of HMBWC.
I love that they let me do my own wine service and decanted into their beaker decanters with crystal from which to drink.

This guy was initially tight and held so much in that juice. I figured it would need about 2 hours before it could begin to talk.
That first taste held excellent fine tannins, earth and fungal core with stars at the finish. Loved it from the start. There were tars below the strawberry that were excellent.

It opened excellently and was loved by all who tasted. I shared with parties next to me. One of whom bought two bottles because of my share.

It paired well with the brisket.

Balanced upper, mid and finish, this wine was a great pick.

  • Some big dark cherry fruit to the wine. And vibrant and pretty. Kinda a beautiful spice note to it. Kinda beautiful spice note.

  • Quite grapey, and tastes almost like a barrel sample. The nose shows some rusticity, with shoe leather, cigar box, minerals and sous bois. Juicy acids complement the black fruit profile, which shows a pleasant smokey/stoney edge and a firmly tannic finish. Big mineral streak here, rockheads rejoice. These are always very good wines from Nardi, traditionally made, and built for the long haul. Hard to judge at this stage, but the potential seems to be there.

  • 2015 Brunello di Montalcino, new releases (Montalcino centro): Benvenuto Brunello 2020, Montalcino

Ripe red fruits, a touch of smoke, barnyard, old leather. The palate is fresh, the acids just a bit loose right now; needs to add some tension, or else the wood/tannins will outlive the fruit. Good. Drink 2024-2039. recommended

  • Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello NYC. Aged in new and used french oak barriques for 12 months and 12 months in large Slavonian oak, then at least 6 months in bottle. Light to medium garnet crimson, Very balanced and textured. Good, bright acidity, moderate tannin. Red florals, cherry and anise on the nose and palate. Nice long mineral finish. Not much secondary flavor development yet, but very fresh and delicious. Cellaring won't hurt by any means but reasonable to drink now, otherwise after its 10th birthday. Solid, consistent, delicious.
