Very 2018 but equally very much in the tradition that Veronique has establish for this bottling. More precisely, dense yet elegant. A deep, unusually dark Petit Monts, with pleasing and attractive aromatics that blossom.with aeration. In the mouth, this enters forcefully and yet, one cannot mistake the impeccable balance and nuance. The well rounded and larger than normal tannins are seamlessly integrated and detectable primarily in the mid palate. The finish falls off abruptly but portends the certainty of future development. Another great Petit Monts from Veronique and team Drouhin.

Needs air. A good bit of oak to integrate. Great depth and density after a couple of hours. Tons of spice. Perfect tannin structure. Smooth and silky. This has tons of potential. Don't touch for a decade or more.

Joseph Drouhin Dinner (Medlar (London)): Very vibrant ruby in colour, from obvious ripe fruit but not some nice acidity to balance this out. Beautiful fine raspberry notes, sexy and immediate today, fine mineral laced finish. Veronique remarks that due to ripeness of fruit she went for 50% whole cluster (this wine usually sees range of 20-50%). This should become a lovely Burgundy from this exciting vineyard and one that manages to retain Burgundian freshness in this vintage. 92-94 potential?

Joseph Drouhin Cellar Visit and Tasting with Vero (Beaune): Barrel tasting at the domaine. I always like this wine, but the 2018 might turn into a knockout. Red and black cherry with so much spice. Starts off powerful with near Grand Cru density, then quickly seems to become more graceful. Very long, finessed finish. 93-94 point potential.

Extremely elegant, smooth operator, creamy, en danseuse. I love this already, must wait of course.
