Deep black and blue fruits, quite smooth. Last had a year or so ago and it continues to improve. I’m letting the clio age more but wondering if this 2017 is better. Plenty of life ahead.

This is big in every way, with ripe notes of blackberry and plum out front. Oak takes control, with hints of smoke and tar emerging late and lingering on the mildly tannic finish. The oak is more dominant than I'd prefer, but this is still a hedonistic treat.

A charmer, but with depth, ready to support the favourable first impression with serious arguments. Not subtle, but proud and strong. Better after some time open. Decanting might have improved the impression further. The nose still quite alcoholic with its 15.5 degrees showing through. On the palate a touch of sweetness from highly concentrated fruit, followed by a long-lasting impression and aftertaste. One of those wines you want more of, event though it remains a hint monochromatic compared to other very good wines.

Tasted after a 2 1/2 hour decant. Indicated blend is 60% Monastrell, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Syrah. Dark ruby in colour with lovely aromas of sweet black fruit, background oak, sweet earth & somewhat herbal/floral. On the palate, full bodied black fruit, blackberry, cassis, blueberry, well integrated oak, herbal & earthiness with high acidity & high silky tannins. Finish is long to black pepper & crushed gravel. This is tasty, balanced, excellent wine! Still lovely deep, rich flavour on night #3.
One-hour splash decant at the excellent Maxwell's in Fargo and off of the wine list. No sediment. Wine was clear; bright garnet from bowl to rim. Nose was far more Syrah than Monastrell: red fruits of raspberry and cherry. In the mouth, far brighter than a typical Jumilla. Only the depth of the fruit indicated the Monastrell. Again red fruits, no plums or raisins. Finish was very nice: moderately long with licorice, a hint of tobacco and some chalk. Had I drank this blind, I would have surmised a mid-level Northern Rhone from a very good year. Was an excellent compliment with a rack of lamb.

This is a big, brawny red with a new world/modern profile. Dark, rich, ripe fruit profile with generous oak and not a lot of the minerality you would expect with an old world wine. however this is a really well made wine especially for the price.

Colour is dark ruby with aromas of sweet black fruit & a hint of oak & earth. On the palate, bold but not offensive black fruit, cassis, blackberry (jam), well integrated oak, tobacco, earth with medium acidity transitioning to spice/pepper and high but soft approachable tannins. Finish is long & this wine is well balanced & well deserving of the Wine Spectator 94 point rating.

It’s difficult for me to give a normal review on this bottle. Had the parents over for dinner, so between trying to tell mom that Fox News is full of sh*t and trying to follow the baseball game, all I can say is that this is an exceptional wine for the price point. Going to grab another bottle from TW and properly enjoy the experience on another day.

Brilliant wine, has enormous depth for a wine at this price point. This wine has many layers that are so well balanced. Paired with grilled flank steak and it was beautiful.

PnP. Big wine with a lot of oak initially. Settled down and opened up more as the night went on. Dark fruit, earthy spice with a little licorice. Well balanced tannins and acid. Long, long finish. It’s really a nice wine, but needs a little more time or a decant for an hour or two.

Concentrated, rich, opulent - bursting with dark fruit flavors but not too sweet. Mainly composed of Monastrell and cabernet. 94 pts WS, I have always had success with inexpensive wines from Juan Gill, 2004 vintage to today. At $30, this is a great value

Baby Clio is a good description.....but one of a very few wines that for my palate does not need food and mebbe even better without it. Sumptuous wine to be savored alone by the thimbleful. QPR for me is off the scale. Will also add ....and apologies if I am....but I think I'm repeating myself, if you want to get someone/anyone started on red wine , this for sure is your baby. If you cant drink this(and enjoy), dont bother!!

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 2-3 hours.
Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Tight nose up front with notes of dust, plums and red berries poking through. Flavors of red raspberries, plums and red cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink over the short to medium term, decant about an hour if opening over the short term.

A bit lighter in body and lower in alcohol than the 2015 vintage but the prominent coffee and baking spice is still featured. The blend is the same as in 2015. Still a big, bold food wine. A great go to when looking to change up the pairing with grilled meats etc.

this is a $30 wine that holds it own against much more expensive wines. Juan Gils blue label, buy it! try it ! If you don't agree give me grief.
