Lovely wine...drinking well now but plenty of life so no rush to drink. As others noted, perfumed matchstick reduction. Lovely acidity that lingers. Nice fruit palate balanced by the acidity. Excellent wine.

Wow, this is good. Has plenty of reduction, which I'm a fan of, and that dominates the nose, but there is fruit there too, a bit of mango (though that seems heavier than what is there) and a wisp of caramel. It has a bit more fruit in the taste than some other more austere WV chards. Nice level of acidity which makes the whole package come together and helps to provide a long finish. Tasting great now, but will hold for a few more years, at least.

Drank over 2 nights just a fantastic daily drinker. A bit fuller and fruitier than some of the other WS cuvées, so this is not my favorite, but it is still pretty excellent. A dose of reductiveness/matchstick, lots of lemon and citrus fruits. Long finish.

Has that stuck match quality on the nose (to me. At least) , everyone else got dairy, butter. Palate quite crisp and a bit minerally with a good amount of acid. Not my supreme go to style for Chardonnay but a unique expression nonetheless .

In a blind tasting of 12 Chards from around the world - all highly regarded and curated wines in the $30-50 range - this finished #1. My notes were impeccably balanced of orchard fruit and minerality. Easy re-buy.
Good amount of reduction (even having been opened a few hours in advance). Definitely sees a bit of toasty oak. All in balance, great acidity, a great wine. My 1, group 1.

Might be my last 750 of this. Similar to my note back in May, nice notes of reductive flint on the nose. Good acidity and tart apple fruit on the palate. Not overly complex, but pretty delicious all the same. If someone was curious about what Walter Scott Chardonnays were all about, I often think this particular cuvee is the perfect intro to the "house style". Not as complex as the SVDs, but more to it than the entry level La Combe Verte.
Transparent yellow color. Ripe orchard fruit and matchstick on the nose. Medium body, medium-plus acid. Bitter lemon and green apple on the palate. With air the bitterness started to mellow, and some white cherry became present. Fine.

I actually finished my stash last year, but then was able to refill when they offered the wines as part of the Cuvee Anne vertical on Berserkers Day.
Lovely reductive flint notes on the nose. Elegant and lighter-bodied on the palate, with good acidity & persistence. I get some citrus here as well, maybe some Granny Smith apple too. Very nice.

Sublime wine--beautiful bouquet of apples, citrus, big floral notes, a touch of salinity and minerality. Expansive palate with lovely texture--oily but a nice grip to balance it out--and refreshing acidity. Everything seems perfectly in balance with each element taking turns at the forefront, but never dominating. A bit reductive, as others have noted, but that seemed fairly integrated at this point and just added to the complexity. Probably the best domestic chardonnay I've had. Should improve over the next 5-10 years. Drink or hold.

Superb oak integration, this is the kinda Chardonnay I want to hate but end up loving. Floral and oily on the nose, notes of daffodils, honeysuckle, citrus oils, hazelnut oil, camphor, mint, toast, tar and petrichor; there's also nice citrus juice, and ripe apple and pear. Great combo of freshness and richness on the palate, myriad crunchy fruits as well as hints of cooked apple and pear, copious flowers, spice and stones too, deep acid cut and subtle tannic grip are in sublime balance. Long and saturating finish, the floral element really sticks around, and the fruit bounces back. This is certainly ready, but should gain complexity for at least a few years, might be worth following much longer. Serve with seared or grilled seafood.

1 hour decant. Had during Walter Scott zoom session and then after with pan seared rockfish.
Agree with the golden apple, light orchard fruit, lemon oil, flint and matchstick. Med- body. I thought it was fine and guessing opened a few years to early. Wife is not a fan of Oregon Chardonnay in general so was not a good fit as a family dinner bottle for us (but I will keep sneaking them in over time to see if that changes). Looking forward to trying the other 2018 and 2019 Walter Scott Chardonnays in the cellar over future years.
Kept getting better on day 2 and 3.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Light straw with a bit more color depth than many OR chardonnay. Nose of apple, citrus and floral herbs. Palate was lemon, apple and citrus fruit amply balanced by hazelnut, a touch of honey and a bit of salinity. Nice, complex finish.

Slow ox'd for around 1 hour or so before dinner. Nose of golden apple and pear, some flinty, reductive notes and a bit of lemon custard. Very nice. Similar flavors on the palate with a delicious mix of citrus and orchard fruit with some slightly smoky, salty minerality. Medium+ acid. Medium body. Long finish. Very nice bottle of chardonnay.

Pop and pour and tasted after finishing the 2019 Goodfellow Whistling Ridge Chardonnay. Light straw color. Nose shows wild fennel, some flint notes, fresh cut sour apple. Nice fresh and tangy on the intro, followed by lemon-lime and some salty minerality. Maybe an accent of hazelnut as well. Steely flint note on the back end. Enjoyable. That flint reductive note gets a bit more steel-like after a day of being open.

PNP into Triton plastic Burgundy glass (“No” day): Medium lemon golden to the eyes.
On the nose this decidedly the young Burgundian style with lots of flinty, white spices, then freshly picked stone fruits like apricots, citrus fruits like lemons, some reduction. Very restrained oak with just a little toasty notes as garnish.
On palate, this has good tension with the strong minerality and bright acidity. Flavor wise this is lemon rinds and oil in a textbook style, very nicely done just right with a slight bittersweet edge but good complexity.
Enjoyable wine indeed, but also a lot of finesse in my view and good for slow sips. Will age well. Pairs well with delicate western style dishes too. 94 points.

Lemon and Crème Brûlée aromas. Very nice, mid-weight fruit. Lemon, minerals, very Chablis-like. Nice acidity, good balance. Minerality is the defining element on the mid-palate. Finishes long with light lemon flavors and nice minerality. No discernible oak. The crispness, acidity and minerality all become more pronounced with air. I have not been overwhelmed with the Walter Scott Chardonnays before, but this is the best I have tried and well worth the wait.

PNP. Flint, minerals. Stone fruit. A bit tight upon opening. Something just a bit vegetal, not in a bad way, this is on the lean, racier side. Best after some air, or short decant.

Hints of flinty, sulfur, reduction. Air it out. Core of white fruit, sweet, lemon-honeysuckle. Tart. Clean, pure, direct Chardonnay. Needs some time for ideal pleasure. Well done.

I'm on a boat (Chicago, IL): The nose has a fair bit of reduction, as well as some tart white fruit aromas. The sulphur however seems to be a little stinkier than usual. That follows through on the palate, where the wine itself comes off as slightly dilute. That dilution though is somewhat hidden by the sulphur on the palate. I know many people seem to love these wines; I admit I don't get them.
Reductive on opening but blows off in first 30 minutes. Good lemon blossom nose and white flowers. Delicious in the mouth with good texture and intensity.

Another enjoyable Eola Amity Chardonnay Cuvée that beautifully showcases an awesome AVA for This varietal. This time when we consumed it over two days it seemed more seemless and elegant on day two. Lovely stuff!

Very reduced to start - borderline rotten eggs. Blows off after a couple hours, but not completely and obscures any aromatics on the nose. Palate has good material, juicy acid, crushed rock minerals, and some nice pear, lemon and green apple. Will check back on day 2 but it is a bit angular for enjoyment on night 1.

Served blind against an 17 Rollin P&F Pernard-Vergelesses ‘Les Cloux’, I thought this was the White Burg and as such, rather surprising during the reveal. Upon reflection, we only spent about 10 minutes with the wines during the guessing game and I am somewhat confident I would have gotten the right origin in due time. In addition, I think it was quite the compliment to both wines that their qualities could have been interpreted as being from either side of the pond. The CA had a clear cut focus of nervy white nectarine, a tad bit of reduction, a kiss of matchstick, and closing with a gentle finish of both sweet and salty, and it good effect. Excellent.

The first bit of a spring day in the Northern Rockies. This wine was chosen specifically for that reason and it fit. Angular, chiseled but soft pear and white fruit. Mild citrus. That icky struck match thing was present on opening and in the first glass but it (blessedly) disappeared soon, with only hints in the front palate after an hour or two. Briny, citrusy, a bit of minerality on the finish. Quite lovely - should be an excellent crisp fall day wine.

Opened the day before this time around, avoiding the tightness of Day 1... flint and apple on the nose, crisp apple and mango up front in the mouth moving through a complex, mionerally core and finishing on very good acidity with steeliness and salinity. High notes the whole way through. Side-by-side with 00 VGW '17 Chard, this is brighter, slightly less nuanced, slightly less intense, a little more closed off and needed a little more time to open up. Both are killer and as good as any white burgundy I've had the pleasure to try... at $40 that's pretty amazing... woot home team Oregon chard!

Agree with the note from Bob H—the perfect antidote to a busy day. I just love the nose on these Walter Scott Chardonnays, slightly reductive, minerals and some crisp fruit. Fruitier on the palate than the nose. I had to order more of these, great wines and great QPR
Slightly closed on opening, with notes of green apple and lime peel. It’s not tropical, but there is a fullness of fruit and midpalate volume that speaks to the origin as new world. Other than that, burgundy fans should appreciate this.

After a tough day of remote working, having some of this slide down your throat is guaranteed to put a smile on your face ;^)
All the troubles gone in a single gulp! Just delicious, and just what the doctor ordered. This is probably my last bottle, but it has served it's purpose well by successfully keeping my hands off the Seven Springs and X-Novo. I just had a glass of the '18 Le Combe Vert, and right now, I actually think I prefer that wine to this. This is quite good as well, and fairly accessible, but isn't quite as lively on the palate. I do give this wine the edge on the nose, where it has a reductive flint note that I'm enjoying right now that the first wine didn't display, but this is very good, as opposed to outright delicious, on the palate.
Taut and lively on the palate; there is still a reductive note on the nose. This is between the Le Combe Verte and the SVD’s on the qualitative hierarchy at WS, and while this is definitely enjoyable, in all honesty I am drinking these too young, as the wine feels like it will get better with more time in the bottle.
That said, it’s not a waste to try now, and it does help me keep my hands off the Seven Springs and X-novo. ;^)

decanted 30 min. pale gold; precisely the nose one seeks, brilliant & evocative, mineral, flint, citron; elegant weight; succulent & juicy, stimulating acids, good length.
on a weird day after massive rains, unseasonably humid, the second bottle of this cuvée consumed in 2020, to even greater appreciation.
The Last Few Weeks; 9/1/2020-11/2/2020: Really impressive wine...especially for the cost. Aromas of pears, lime, flint, and lemon were beautifully composed. Palate had good weight with soaring citrus and minerals tones. Loved it.

This is great wine. I drank this while cooking hamburgers on an open fire. The weather was warm/cool; it couldn't make up its mind, and I just had to have a fire. This wine is bright, and quenching, with flint and mineral, and cool toned fruit. There are plenty or orchard fruits, cistern perception, and thoughts of limestone, and maybe a green growing thing of two. This is a combination of barrels from multiple sites. 12 months in new oak and finished for 3 month in stainless steel.

The nose is smoky and flinty in the modern style of white Burgundy, and there's also a hint of salty caramel-covered nuts and white flower character. The palate is incisive and focused with lively acid but with an attractive breadth and weight on the palate; I love the perfect tightrope walking here between the elegance and raciness of the Old World with the roundness of the New. There's certainly lots of room for development here but drinking really, really well.

This is still a little coiled when compared to the ‘18 Le Combe Verte. Tasty, with a more pronounced reductive note here and tart white fruits on the palate. Whereas the Le Combe Verte may be as good as it will be right now, this wine still promises to get better with some additional time in the bottle.

Reductive as expected; Gasoline and industrial notes on the nose at pop, moving over for baked apple and peach with a fairly complex, deep chalk and saline core in front of a long, steely, mineral-driven finish on good but not overwhelming acidity.

A light "yellow diamond" color. It has a complex nose which I appreciate: breadth of lemon from fresh squeezed to baked lemon pie. It's balanced with acidity, stone and oak. I've enjoyed several WS chardonnays, and this one does not disappoint. However, there are other chardonnays of similar profile at similar or slightly better price points.

Nice reductive style nose, salty, leesy, dried pineapple, white & yellow flower, some general pit fruit character good cooling drive and lift. Good first impression. Great acid drive in the mouth, great length, youthful playful mouthfeel, gripy citric acid like lingering on the tongue. Creates for a really nervy finish. The fruit that makes it through before the citric element takes over is some nice silky textured orchard fruit. The wine is young and rambunctious and has room to settle but the elements are there and its super impressive. Looking forward to tasting the single site wines.

Wifes Note: "Smells like Goodfellow, sesame seeds. Bright acid and light fruit with no/low oak."
My Note: Pale Gold but crystal clear in the glass. Pleasant flinty funk on the nose followed shells, soft citrus, apple. The nose on this wine is alluring straight out of the bottle. The flint has disappeared by day three, but the nose is very agile. Subtle fruit and minerality dance around. The palate starts with pleasing bright, citrusy acidity. Lemon rind, soft lime, ripe notes of pear and apple, and hints of tropical fruit. The barrel notes and richness appear on the mid-palate and dance around briefly and then slowly disappear, leaving the choir of fruit and acid dancing through the long finish. A very complete wine. Show's purity of fruit yet very light and complex. Shows excellent on Pop N Pour but plenty of structure.too. 13% ABV
Side Note: As with other Willamette Valley 2018's I am finding this ripeness and purity of fruit adding to the nose/palate but not dragging the wines down or making them taste bigger or fatter like say 2015
Similar to the last time I tried these side-by-side, I still prefer the older wine. The fruit on the palate is a touch too tart for me right now, so this may just need some time to pull itself together. The noses of the two wines are similar, so if the wine can gain some balance over the next year or two, I can see it being another nice wine, but I will personally try to avoid my remaining bottles for at least six months.

Pale yellow. Overpowering matchstick aroma that took a long time to fade before giving way to some vanilla. Lighter boded than the Meursault we had with it. Flavors were initially strongly reminiscent of lemon-lime soda, but improved tremendously with time in the glass with more apple notes. Will probably give it 20 minutes or so in the decanter before the next bottle, but this was great once it got going.

Drank alongside a 2016 Boillot Mouchere and the resemblance was quite uncanny. Lots of reduction (though the boillot had more), a bit of nicely toasty oak but no buttery flavors. Big fruit, high acidity. The finish suffered slightly from a mild odd sourness (almost beer-ish) that, truth be told, I barely noticed at first but my drinking companion picked up on. Really impressive.

Beautiful stuff! Nice yellow apple and pear with fresh, sea air on the nose. A palate of golden apple with some minerality. A great combination of finesse and stuffing. A nice pairing with beer battered cod and quite inviting on its own.

That said, it’s not a waste to try now, and it does help me keep my hands off the Seven Springs and X-novo. ;^)
