Ripe strawberry, licorice, and some rosy florals. The rich 2017 fruit here was really front and center, robbing the wine of the grace and energy that I recall from other vintages. AG’s 2037 drinking window seems extremely optimistic, but I do think I’ll give my second bottle 3-5 years to see where this goes.

Pretty consistent with previous note apart from a bit more development in this one. I thought that the alcohol came through a bit on the finish which I haven't picked up earlier. Seems like this vintage is aging fast.

Soft, fruity chianti. Not too much oak here and the fruit is allowed to do all the talking. Easy going, fairly straightforward and well made, I enjoyed this, though not your pure Sangiovese fruit here - more on the plummy side of things (dash of canaiolo?)

Second time tasting this particular vintage and my impression that 17 is a rather forward and early drinking vintage remains. Nose shows a lovely mixture of ripe red cherry, balsamic spice, fresh sage, dusty gravel road and floral overtones.
Smooth texture with fine tannins and medium+ acidity. Somewhere around medium bodied and very good intensity to the flavors. It is a nice place now where the fruit is still vibrant but is taking on a bit darker tone and more spicy, savory notes has developed. Drink now through 2025.

Medium ruby red in color. Fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, plums & strawberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes with dried herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of cedar. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, plums & strawberries with dried herbs, minerals/earthy & a slight hint of oak. Lingering finish. Quite accessible & drinks well at present with decanting & airing but has the structure & fruit to continue with further development with additional aging.

Said to be 95% Sangiovese along with a mix of Canaiolo, Colorino & Malvasia Nero from vines 15-40+ yrs old. Aged in larger cask. A non interventionist style that lets the terroir and fruit shine through. I love this basic cuvee year in year out and out. Slowed oxed in btl and glass for 2-1/2 hours prior to dinner. Lovely semi translucent ruby red color. Still some tannins to meld stand alone but utterly perfect with the first bite of food. Perfumed aromas of berries, flowers & underbrush. The palate is a mix of cherry, raspberry, mineral, more underbrush, earth, licorice and like many a chianti a slightly bitter finish. Tannins resume after dinner. Label says 14% alc feels more like sub 13%. Nice value at $17 for real chianti. Give it plenty of air. If time is short, decant.

Nothing fancy here, just good straightforward Chianti made in a mid-weight style and without any rustic elements. For $13-14, this is perfect for pairing with pizza, pasta with red sauce, or burgers.

Super pretty nose that sings right out of the bottle. Dark cherry, raspberries, red currant, balsamic spice, black tea, dried rose petals, Tuscan gravel road, dusty herbs and just a whiff of paint bucket. Somewhere around mid weight with silky tannins and mouthwatering acidity. Bone dry but the warm vintage provides a bit more generous fruit to give a smooth mouthfeel. Very good intensity to the flavors that mirrors the nose very well. Lingering sour cherry finish with a bit of dusty gravel road to the very end.
I think I've tasted almost ten vintages of this wine and this is probably the one that showed best this young. The vintage brings out a bit more approachable style and more generous fruit (relatively speaking) than the average vintage. Drinks perfectly fine now but will probably gain more complexity with time. As always one of the best QPR out there

Nose has a haunting floral quality that I just love, as well as cherry and smoke. The palate has good acidity and weight but the tannin is not quite there and the flavor lacks some precision. In that respect I prefer the 2016. But this is still good and overdelivers for the $15 sale price.
Day 2: As with the ‘16, this has improved tremendously. Heat has dissipated, tannin has softened, overall quality has gone up. Seems it’s not a wine to PnP.

There's a wonderful complexity here - cherry, wood and a bunch of herbs. On the palate it's very dry with a nice bite from the tannins. I get more wood and grass than fruit and the acidity also hides the fruit a bit. This is a smashing wine!

Less advanced than the last bottle. Pretty much in line with my note from March 2021.

Starts with high alcohol and acidity but once allowed to breath opens up to a nice depth with a slight pepper and cranberry finish.

Forest berries, more tannic and powerful than I expected. Alcohol comes through a bit. Good with food.
