  • I tend to pop Ultramarine rosé young - the aromas+flavors of crunchy red berries and violets cloaked in fresh acidity & mineral remind me of well-made young red burgs. In my book, calling anything Burgundian is the highest complement and I am an admitted fanboy of what Cruse is doing w/ his Ultramarine lineup. Anyway, got up the willpower to stash away a couple bottles 2015s to taste the effects of some cellaring. I must say, very please with what's going on here. The tension and energy remains and the fruit softened a bit to reveal additional layers pleasing complexity. Even young, the effervescence is very fine (a previous writer mentioned an "explosive mousse" but I fear he opened a shaken bottle haha) and here, the mousse is like Cedric Bouchard rose, ie, tongue tingling but soft. Cruse is trying to show off the vinous character of his rose bubbly and for my money, I'd sell Cedric's rose and buy a case of Ultramarine instead (as I have.) No knock against the Creux, I just think the market has taken the prices to speculative heights reminiscent of the 2021 crypto bubble and I for one, would rather cash that in and let the market pop it.

  • Awesome.

Love the roses fairly young - and this one is still in the zone. Super energetic, fresh and zippy.

  • Explosive mousse (the cork was ready to fly out the moment I touched it), boisterous red fruit and fresh acidity made this very easy to drink. I had to remind myself to slow down a little and appreciate it. Maybe it's a little simple at this early age, but it's still delicious. No rush here. It has plenty of depth for more serious cellar time.

  • Dinner at home, Mill Valley, CA. From 750ml. Poured 1/2 hour after opening and imbibed over three hours. Cellared since release.

This wine has come together beautifully over the last year. Super expressive but nuanced/delicate pinot fruit, with taut acidity providing verve and structure. Really enjoyed the interplay of fruit and minerality on the finish. Refreshing and complex. A memorable sparkling wine.

  • Our first bottle of Ultramarine after years of waiting... ombre in the glass, a gorgeous copper/salmon color trending to translucent near the bottom... as many have said fine, fine mousse and a tantalizing aroma of fresh picked wild strawberries. On the palate a linear acidity, but of cranberry not lemon or lime zest. The wine can best be described as luxurious and finely crafted. Can't wait to try more from the producer.

  • Opened, chilled, 30 minutes before service. In the glass, clear watermelon/copper in color, with a sparse amount of medium bubbles. On the nose, strawberry, bread, and a secondary note of lemon. On the palate, full bodied and yeasty on the attack, with cherry, strawberry, and plums, with ample acidity on the midpalate and a crisp finish.

  • Don't drink this one too cold. At first it was a bit mute, but once it warmed up a bit there was crunchy, dry red fruit, and a finishing citrus snap. Good now, with lots of depth to the fruit, so a few years in the cellar should be just fine.

I have been up and down on the Ultramarine Rosé in the past (I adore their Blanc de Blancs), but this vintage is right up my alley.

  • Just starting to drink nicely. Lots of fleshy strawberry and cherry but still fresh and weightless with a fine creamy mousse. Wonderful.

  • Darker color and medium body. Lots of strawberry and red fruit. Quite a bit different from other Roses I’ve had (eg, Prevost and others from Champagne), but very interesting and enjoyable.

  • Semi-fine mousse, restrained strawberry, long finish. Enjoyable, but will hold last bottle for a few more years to further develop.

  • Crazy good. Cranberry and red plum, touch of spice, excellent fruit backed up with green apple acidity. Very fine (small) ebullient mousse. Medium crisp finish. More complexity with air....beautiful Rose.

  • Slightly darker colour that I recall, but singing tonight! Lots of strawberries, brioche, dusty earth minerals on the nose, really energetic mousse, with good fruit, medium plus acidity and a long finish

  • Lovely bubbles with deep salmon pink. Rich strawberry on the nose with some creaminess and minerality. Medium acidity (6/10) and medium bodied. Creamy mouthfeel with vibrant strawberries and raspberries. Long finish. A touch sweet as well. Would like to see this in a few years. Drink till 2030.

  • Lovely color, a vibrant bright salmon-to light orange. A lot of citrus on ths nose and front palate. There is a sweet cherry/strawberry...almost a jolly rancher-ish-candied note in the front that it is a tad to pronounced right now. Still very tight bubbles, effervescent. It is super fresh and fun right now and A good foil to fried chicken.

  • Incredibly vibrant mousse. Nice pink-orange color, close to salmon. You can smell some minerality on the initial pour, along with strawberry and an herbal note (elderflower?). In the mouth there’s a nice acidic streak that runs down the center of your tongue, slightly pushing the moderately ripe red fruits down. Very round finish and lingering taste.

As the glass comes to room temp, the acid drops off and the vibrancy of fruit really shows. Awesome! Another stellar Ultramarine.

  • Ah...a little more red saignée in this than the lighter 2014! Intense citrus and crispness with those exploding pop rocks of bubbles...not an elegant effervescence...a full on par-tay! Lots of fleshy cherry skin and strawberry...creamy ginger and blood orange mousse...lovely dried roses and cherry blossom florals. What I just LOVE about these UM wines is...it works! The fleshy fruit, yet weightless freshness...energized effervescence that's not harsh, but totally Champenoise...creamy and airy mousse...just a true pleasure to pop and enjoy! The benchmark for domestic bubbly imo.
