Old school Burgundy style village level wine. Killer acidity right up front with loads of green apple, lemon, lime, pear, vanilla, and old oak in the background. Normally I do not talk about how a dry apple wine is but this is very dry. Almost as if there are tannins and they are drying out your mouth.

Citrus, candy apples, burned matches, stone/earth. Nice mouthfeel, big, but elegant. A touch of vanilla and pines. High acid and vitality, minerals, long complex finish. Great Bourgogne Blanc. Mersault-style.

High quality BB, very Meursault in character. Nicely balanced acid, with rich fruits (apricot, citrus, and a bit of pineapple), fronted by a bit of sulfur/flintiness and bookended by a hit of minerality. Moderate complexity, but very good depth and even a bit of charm. A touch of heat - 14.5% - but doesn't ever tip into ponderous.

Tasted over two days, better on day 2. Very impressive acidity for the vintage, citrus, hints of butter, classic structure; you feel the mesters hand.. Very enjoyable. #Kandestederne

Right off the bat, this has a puppy-dog like quality where it is upfront and friendly with apples, saline, limes, peach, mineral tones, yellow flowers, and some pears. The Medium bodied feel is well balanced and shows off good depth, but a slightly shorter finish along with crisp, medium+ acidity. This is perfect right now and can age for a few more years if desired.

Not particularly complex but hard to beat at the price. Clean, slight petrol notes, peach, somewhat full reflecting the vintage. A great everyday white burg

Pale gold. Nose significantly benefits from air. At the beginning even slightly unpleasant, getting burgundian with time. The palate is very intense, tightly wound, also requires loads of air. Then it really take above above village level. High acidity promises long tenure. Next bottle to be opened at earliest in 2024.

Note to rookies like me: this wine needs decanting big time. Aromas of cedar, biscuit, cheese, fennel, mint, grapefruit and lemon. Enjoyable medium acidity, high alcohol and medium body. Complex, long finish. I definitely enjoyed it even more 2hrs after opening.

A well made Bourgogne, with predictable yellow citrus, unripe stone fruit, and some white rock notes delivered in a somewhat powerful unfolding of medium+ flavors. Finishes a little abrasive and angular (with some alcohol), but with enough lemon flavors to wash over some of the harder edges on the back end. Hold for another year or so. 90+ points.
This was bested by a series of 2019 Droin 1er Chablis by a decent margin. The Droins had better concentration, focus, and finesse... and ultimately, more sophisticated and interesting expansions of flavor.

Hot vintage and it shows with the 14% ABV. Citrus, stony minerality, white peaches on the nose and palate. Judicious use of oak. For the price, this represents very good value for a white Burgundy. Really good. Drinks well now and should last into the middle part of the decade with ease.

Very crisp and refreshing citrus, green apples, honey and minerals. Long and complex. Excellent with shellfish and shrimps. Still a bit young, should improve even further after some years in the cellar.

This is richer and more bold when compared to the 2018 Benoit Ente Bourgogne Blanc. It is also tight and hard around the edges, still with great a great stony minerality, green apples, and citrus notes. Big scaled on the palate, deep and wide. Needs a bit of time to settle down. 14% alc.

90-91 pts

Clean and pure, with a clarity that keeps the register and delivery a bit higher and linear. With air, lemon juice, lemon seed, quince, and green apple skin notes are coaxed out. There’s some underlying drive (14% ABV?), but it maintains freshness, stopping just short of crossing into an overly sanitized profile. Finishes fairly straight laced at the moment.
There is sophistication and satisfaction to be had here, but this needs a couple-three years to gain girth and depth. Try again in 2022+. 92+ points. Wax covered with a synthetic cork, so it’s nicely set up to sleep a bit with confidence.
This was a couple steps behind a vivaciously complex 2017 Henri Germain Bourgogne Blanc I had the day prior.

So, Henri Boillot is one of my go to Burgundy producers...largely for his quality in craft but, his QPR as well.
Normally, I wouldn’t open even one of his Village Bourgogne whites this early (I would wait 2-3 more years) but, 2018 is a good to very good not outstanding vintage & this was only $25 ish. Inexpensive for a decent Burgundy these days. So, I bought several.
The nose reveals; waxy, sweet & sour lemons, the light, good/softer aspects of lemon pledge, lime zest, green & golden apple, overripe pineapple, honeysuckle, apricots, white peach, orange rind, grapefruit w/ pith, tree bark, flintiness, notes of roasted caramel, vanillin, beautifully, elegant, grey volcanics, salty, powdery, even slightly floral chalkiness, white to lightly brown spices, sea spray, oyster notes, limestone/sandstone, fruit blossoms, yellow lilies framed in a field of spring flowers.
The body is thick, rich, lush and nicely rounded. If you like viscosity, no issues here. It guides over the palate presenting no mouth arguments. Waxy, sweet & sour lemons, the light, good/softer notes of lemon pledge, green & some golden apple with skin, lime zest, overripe pineapple, honeysuckle, apricots, white peach, orange rind, tropicals green melon, tree bark, notes of roasted caramel, beautifully, elegant, grey volcanics, salty, powdery, even slightly floral chalkiness, white to lightly brown spices with some medium palate heat, sea spray, oyster notes, sulfur/flintiness, limestone/sandstone, fruit blossoms, yellow lilies framed in a field of spring flowers. The acidity is near dead on...like a gentle cool stream. The long finish is, gorgeous & sexy, elegant, rich, good balance all around and persists gently for minutes.
Just gets better & better as it warms & opens up in the glass. This Bourgogne will add another point or two when I open my next bottle in 2-3 years.
Excellent with our soft, white cheese...Jasper Hill Farms-Willoughby. If you can find this cheese, gets one of my highest recommendations. Bought it at Whole Foods but, you can always check JasperHillFarms.com if N/A where you shop.

This was a big difference to the more opulent and tropical fruit bottle I had 2 years. Either shut down or an off bottle. More muted than expected.

Robe jaune claire. Jambe discrète
Nez encore discret de pomme verte et zeste de citron.
En bouche c’est riche et crémeux. Un équilibre parfait entre fraîcheur, texture et goût. Très sec.
