Gorgeous Zin with a fresh rip blackberry, boysenberry, bramble and spice character.
Blend of two vineyards located on Schmiedt Road in Lodi. It's predominately from Katushas’ along with a quotient from the excellent Kirschenmann Vineyard located on the other side of road

Dense nose of dark plum, dry blackberry, boysenberry, pain grille, and firewood. Ripe wild blackberry fruit starts the palate, then quick acidic rush, then getting a little grainy texture with purple fruits, anise, campfire smoke. Rustic finish of oak, firm tannins, grilled meats, dark fruits, and a leather finale. A rustic take on Zin, but well-done.

PnP. Nose of both fresh and cooked red fruit, eucalyptus, and wet oak. Bright cherry with cranberry, a bit of sour cherry followed by a pile of wood and earth A charcoal note leads the finish, adding soft tannins, more red fruit, some acidity, and wet earthiness on the medium finish.

Nose of plum and red currant. Spicy cherry, cranberry, and baked raspberry with a bunch of pepperiness. Quick rush, some red fruits, and then soft tannins and earth, Fairly feminine but seems ready to go, with a lot of fruit even if it lacks some punch.

On day one: really pretty fruit forward nose. Fresh crushed blackberries, strawberry jam, crushed black pepper. Almost an herbal/pine element as well. Not incredibly complex but very nice. Elegant on the palate, and more fruit forward than the nose. Red fruited with some brambly zin fruit as well. Medium acid and very elegant fine grained tannin. The structure reminds me of the Bedrock Evangelho, but this isn't quite as high toned and doesn't have the orange peel highlights of Evangelho.
On day two, the wine really opened up. The nose is still brambly/red zin fruit, but it's more elegant now. Tannings subsided, leaving mostly the fruit on the palate. Again, not as complex as some of the heritage wines, but really just a joy to drink. Better on day two, so no rush to open these.

Juicy elegant fruit. Persistent finish, even on Day 2. This is not ... “Let’s hear you talk about this Wine”. This is just unabashedly ready to please. Vinified with care to exhibit it’s unique appeal. 4 of 5. Purchased 2+1+2.

Purchased on release, served at room temperature (c.25 degrees). Dark colored, transparent but relatively low viscosity. Initially a very heady nose of blueberry jam, becoming more muted with time. Very light tannins, balanced flavor profile of dark fruits, hint of acidity, with a medium plus finish. A surprisingly lithe wine. Pretty yummy.

A flavorful, graceful Zinfandel. It’s easy to enjoy a young wine that is so fresh & invitingly open for business. A welcome change from dark & brooding needing time+ to integrate. In the last 6 months it has really blossomed too. An intriguing glimpse into vines that have survived on their own roots. A rare red to enjoy on the porch in the heat as well. Nicely done!

Consistent with previous notes. Drinking well immediately upon opening. Nice subtle spice and approach with this red. Love the restraint.
