  • One hour decant, a rich nose that has earth and scrub notes to it, which extends into the palate as well, with a tart taste of cherry and an interesting complex herbal element. Cloudy in the glass, with a long finish, this is a very enjoyable bottle that is not like your typical pinot.

  • This is an interesting wine. It is a hazy wine (unfined and unfiltered).
On the nose, blackberry, leather, cola. Opens with blackberry, boysenberry, blueberry, very fruity with layers of big flavors. Medium long finish with mixed berry, strawberry, truffle and allspice. Med minus acidity and firm tannins for a PN. This is a sexy Pinot Noir. It has a raw untamed feel to it. For 29 USD I’ll be buying more. Kudos to Purple hands for daring to be different. Really enjoyed this wine. 94/100 2,700 cases produced.

  • Nice fruit and body, but not much acidity or depth to balance it out. Time should help.

  • Pretty much a pop and pour. Aromas of cherry, strawberry, mushroom and bit of rhubarb. Flavors of cherry, strawberry, cranberry and earth. Ends with a nice finish of 20+ seconds with dark cherry and earth notes. Some of that baby fat melted away since I had it last.

  • A young tasting ‘18. Red fruit, strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. Little bit of earthy spice. Would like a little more acidity. Not quite as good as the prior couple years, but it’s young.

  • Decanted for 45 minutes. Aromas of strawberry, cherry and touch of earth. Flavors of strawberry, cherry, rhubarb and touch of earth. Ends with a cherry and strawberry infused finish of 20 seconds. Not quite as good as the 2016 but still a nice Pinot noir.

  • In the glass it is a medium purple, with a nose that smells of tobacco leaf, with hints of smoke and blueberries.
The palate is red fruit sitting behind smoke - hints of tobacco and what might be leather?
This is young - give it time, it has what it takes to mature into a great Pinot Noir, but could do with some time in the bottle - we’ll revisit this one in 2021.

  • Pale ruby, hazy in the glass

Nose: Deep cola and rhubarb notes, mixed with delicate red florals, rose petal and fine grained nutmeg. Bit of black potting soil.

Mouth: Juicy, tart, black cherry and blueberry notes glide across the palate ahead of a thread of buried acid, leaving behind a finish of very fine grained tannins and a wet earth note that continues to play out amidst a powdered baking spice.

Overall: Even when young, it's clear that this is elegant and polished. Darker in profile than prior years, with the wet earth notes taking point through the mid palate and the finish. Will benefit from some continued integration. Well built and has the parts. Best from 2020 through 2027. 100% Pinot Noir

    92.
