Very young - better on night 2 (still good on night 1 though). Dark red, nearly black color. On nose, black olives, pepper, blackberry and iron - clearly Syrah. On palate, similar flavor profile to nose with medium+ body, medium tannins / acidity and nice long finish. 91-92+ Would rate higher with 5+ years in bottle.

Reticent nose offering black cherry and mulberry aromas along with black pepper and herbal undercurrents. Rich and structured with velvety tannins and an elegant mouth-feel.

Decanted and consumed over 2 hours. Not as fresh/impressive as last time. That aside, consistent experience with the cork - cheap and easily falls breaks apart.
This bottle was purchased from K&L, whereas the last bottle was purchased wholesale. I know K&L's warehouse is not temperature controlled. Can't help but wonder if that explains this bottle's performance; it wouldn't be the first time I've had a problem with K&L.

Cork appeared cheap and defective. Decanted. Vibrant and translucent crimson. This showed quite a bit of structure the first 30 minutes and then pulled back to reveal a beautiful and approachable wine. Light aromas of red, blue, and purple fruits. Same fruit profile of moderate strength flavors plus a touch of savory meats followed by moderately dusty tannins on a long finish. Moderate+ complexity. Enjoyable now. But, lots of energy in this wine. 92-95.

The bouquet and profile offer blue and purple fruits and berries, olive medley, savory herbs, cracked peppercorns, root vegetables, blood, smoked meats, mincemeat, coal, crushed granite, and wafting hints of tar.
Piercing energy, compact yet expansive, sleek yet featuring enthralling depth. Medium plus to high acid and gritty tannins grace this offering and will provide it a long maturation curve. Perfect oak treatment. The imperceptible 13 abv proves that purists can still craft wondrously balanced wines. A giant in simplicity and purity. Worth seeking out! 95-96.

Rich nose of blueberries, blackberries, violets and earthy spices. Very dense palate with mouth fulls of floral dark fruit. Long, long mouth-tingling finish and light soft tannins. Good balance in light acid. Really good, while very youthful still silky in a beautiful way. Yea, this is pretty good.

Surprisingly good first night. Drinkable and doesn’t really show the vintage like the 2018 SJ VV
Bravo!

Tasted over two days.
Deep purple in color, without the translucence that 10 percent co-fermented Viognier often imparts to Syrah.
Friggin' Spectacular!!!
Refined, exquisite, compact, gripping...seductive!
